I think how this company is responding to its negative reviews probably tells you all you need to know to avoid booking - excuses and belittling the customers rather than apologising, accepting the constructive criticism and learning from it to improve. 'Operations manager' Robert clearly needs some training in operations and customer services!
We booked months in advance and communication at that point was good whilst they were trying to sell me something but once they had my deposit any communication after that nearer to the date of the trip was either non existent or poor.in fact it was only on the very morning of the trip I finally got confirmation of pick up and even that didnt answer the other questions I had asked.
Having never been to Thailand before it's hard to know what to expect but let me tell you the best thing you can so is get the public ferry to Ko Phi Phi which is 450baht and maybe even book a night or 2 to stay like we did as it's a great place. From there you will find HUNDREDS of captains, companies, tour guides selling any type of tour you want be it private or group all at a fraction of the cost and in better boats with better captain's.
We were celebrating a 40th birthday so we wanted it to be a perfect day. We were told there would be an extra something as were were celebrating a special birthday but that didnt materialise. They say they tailor everything to suit so we wanted a very early morning pick up so we could be in a great spot for sunrise as my husband is a photographer so we wanted that lovely pink sky before the sun comes up - that didnt happen as they were late which looking at other reviews is a common occurrence. We were told excuses but you wonder how true they are when it happens so often. Sadly we didn't get the sunrise pictures we wanted as we were still sat on the beach waiting pick up!
Our captain was a very nice man, I have nothing negative to say about him personally however he just isnt suited to the tourist industry. He hardly spoke to us all day, when he did his English was very limited, when we tried to speak to him he didnt understand. He told us nothing about the places we stopped or where we were going next, he offered to take no photos etc. He just wasnt they type of happy go lucky, smiley make a persons day type of guy which there is absolutely nothing wrong with that... unless your job is to make tourists happy! We wish we could speak Thai and maybe that would have made things a lot better however if we did have the knowledge to speak Thai we wouldnt be booking a tourist tour like this.
The boat itself was in need of severe maintenance and I mean severe. I had visions of us hitting a hard wave and it falling to bits. Many of the boats are old and to a point that is part of the charm on the long boats, we have been on many during our 6 week tour, you expect a bit of water and the odd noise but this one was literally none stop pouring in water around each side to the point the bilge pump was on constant. I expressed my concern and was told very old and no money to repair. As we were out and about I paid attention to other private tours and saw lovely boats decorated in traditional style, Happy captain's serving food and drinks to their customers and providing lots of information as well as taking photos. To be fair we were given 2 bottles of water then dumped on a beach whilst he disappeared for an hour and came back with pad thai to eat which I specifically said when booking and to the captain that I was a fussy eater and would need just plain chicken or bread... I was told no problem by both but Instead I went hungry.
People pay for a private boat at a higher cost than a group tour so they can get the experience they want rather than having to fit in with others. We are very lucky to travel frequently and have paid for 8 private tour boats in the past 2 years...all I would say is DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY it is the worst experience of our time in Thailand and the worst private tour I have ever taken however what I would say is DO go to the Phi Phi Islands, it is beautiful and a must see, in fact a national magazine has already bought one of my husband's images taken here (just think if this tour had been any good we could have said how we travelled and that would have been great free advertising whereas instead we will only tell people to avoid this company)
