Phi Phi Paradise Pearl Resort
Ranked #7 of 38 Hotels in Ko Phi Phi Don
Reviewed April 11, 2013

We booked here last minute after arriving on Phi Phi island for 4 days and as a result were given a total of 3 rooms for the duration. Completely understandable, but the staff refused to discount the rate whatsoever for the inconvenience of having to check out and back in every day. The first room we stayed in had a leaking toilet- bad enough to flood the whole bathroom. I warned reception, purely out of courtesy so that the next couple to check in wouldn't have to deal with it, and a member of staff came, stared at it, and did nothing, but since we were moving rooms the next day we didn't really care. The next room had a leaking air conditioner - which was situated right above the tv (on top of a large desk), the kettle, the plug sockets, basically everything electrical. My partner had to get up in the middle of the night and move all of this to stop it getting wet. In general the rooms are all getting very shabby, they don't really reflect the price. The staff were grumpy throughout the stay, everything seemed too much trouble for them and I felt guilty asking for anything. The restaurant food was okay, about the same standard as everywhere else we ate in Thailand. It's right on the beach and candlelit so very romantic, but again the staff give fairly thoughtless service; my food would be delivered within 5 minutes of ordering whereas my partners wouldn't arrive until 30 minutes or so later, why not just bring them together? Ultimately though the resort is on a beautiful beach with incredible scenery, so if you can tolerate the staff and the rooms then its worth it.

Room Tip: Don't bother paying extra for beachfront rooms, the others have more privacy and are seconds awa...

Pros:
-Really nicely located. Right on Long Beach (which is the best beach on Phi Phi IMO). Compared to the other resorts on Long Beach, this is the best located. Closest to the swimming area of the sea.
- Safe in room.
- Free extra towel hire.
- Really good and well priced resort massages (must book)
- Breakfast is included
- Free pick up from ferry at the pier. Also free drop off.
- Hotel resort is convenient.
- You can have drinks on the resort beach.

Cons:
- SEA WATER SHOWERS. No fresh water to shower. Be prepared to be salty the entire trip. Not just salty water. Straight from the sea. You have to brush teeth with bottled water.
- Resort only provides you with one small bottle of water per couple complimentary.
- Breakfast is average, and restaurant food is average.
- Service is not good. Poor english capabilities and noone tries to help you when asked for directions. Hotel staff couldn't care less.
- 30 minute walk to town.
- 150 baht prices are charged for a long tail boat taxi to town. Per person. Not negotiable. It's a 2 minute trip?

Overall, I would recommend this place purely based of its location on Long Beach, but apart from the location, the resort doesn't have that much going for it.

Room Tip: S1 is the only "S" room to have a view of the sea. It's closest to the beach out of th...

This hotel/resort is in a fantastic location on a gorgeous white sandy beach with wonderful views of Phi Phi Leh. Easy to reach - the hotel provides a complementary long boat from Tonsai pier, which was very welcome upon reaching Ko Phi Phi Don. Our bungalow was excellent - clean, nicely fitted in a Thai style with a large bathroom and verandah. Breakfast was excellent, with freshly cooked eggs to order and the restaurant was next to the beach, with great views. The restaurant also provided fantastic food for lunch and dinner, which was also very good value. The reception staff were efficient and helpful and were able to book day trips as requested. We had a lovely time staying at Paradise Pearl and would happily return.

We spent 2 nights at this beautiful place. We liked everything, well or almost everything. Breakfast could have been with a better choice and bed more comfy. Our Delux room (S5) was nicely decorated in local style. Food at the restaurant was great, especially fish dishes. Desert, however, wasn't too good for us - we had sweet coconut milk soup with bananas which not us but our stomachs did not like, but maybe it's just us and nothing wrong was with the soup! Staff at the reception and at the restaurant were pleasant. Overall, we had a very nice stay and honestly did not want to leave!

The beach and the water are beautiful. The rooms where the decent and had nice decor, but the bathrooms were really outdated. Water pressure and temperature were poor. I don't know why the other reviews say the employees are so rude. They are just not as friendly and full of smiles as they were other places, but in no way were we treated poorly. The bathrooms could really use a renovation, but overall i would stay at this resort again, 2-3 nights would be sufficient. The beach is spectacular. :)

The resort is worn and tired and so is the staff. I suppose it comes from years of dealing with the post-MTV spring break wannabes that swarm what should be an amazing tropical paradise. The front office staff just can't be bothered to be very helpful at all. The restaurant staff warms up if you smile first and actually the restaurant is quite good and a very nice place to hang out.
Frankly the beach is fine but not great and the crowds are annoying. This resort is the closest to the path that comes from town, so those idiots come and hang out on the beach in front of the resort.
Taking a boat trip around the islands is a fantastic and makes the visit worthwhile, but I wouldn't stay too long. I'm pretty sure you can find better accommodation for the price just down the beach.
