Phi Phi Andaman Legacy
Ranked #19 of 66 Ko Phi Phi Don B&B and Inns
Reviewed January 15, 2014

Stayed here for 5 nights in early Nov 2013 - in the 'Main Building' (room with Garden view).

Overall a really decent place to stay if you're the kind of person that wants a decent level of cleanliness and a few modern conveniences.

Garden view = looks out onto a 'park' with small pink bungalows around it where the locals play football most nights after work, and a hillside. A few 'telephone' wires right outside the balcony as well so if that bothers you, get a Sea View room. But I liked it anyway.

Room = air con was great to have as it was hot. The room was cleaned every day we left the sign on the door handle. Good toilet (thai toilets can be dodgy to say the least so it was nice to have it to go back to if needed). No problem with any noise from the adjacent Mosque either. Internet in main building is dodgy though, but who cares.

Price = was a few months ago now, but from what I remember it was one of the more expensive places we stayed in Thailand. BUT Phi Phi is an exceptionally beautiful island (well, it was before it got too touristy) and as I was with my girlfr we were happy to pay it. Circa maybe £40 / night?? Can't remember.

Staff = very nice to us. Thai people can sometimes be rude and you can find people who will have varying experiences with them, but in general if you're nice to them and reasonable about any requests / complaints then they're lovely. This lot were a good bunch for us.

Location = I've stayed on Phi Phi 5 times with the first visit in 2001 and this area is the best in my opinion. It is on the more 'family' orientated side of the Island (Tonsai / Long Beach side), not the 'party' side (Lo Dalum Beach) which is a lot noisier, but generally cheaper. For me it is in the ideal place as it's a 5 min walk into Tonsai village, and 15 mins walk to Long Beach which is the better beach with great snorkelling and little restaurants overlooking the beach etc.

Overall - yeh if you can afford this and you're not too precious about it being totally 'perfect' then go for it.

Room Tip: Stay in the Main Building with either Garden or Sea view!

Although it's in the quieter part of Phi Phi, we were not far from the main stretch of the beach. Phi Phi island is a pretty small island with very narrow beach (not for swimming). More of a connecting place to other beautiful islands. The reception of the hotel was friendly, kind and courteous. Rooms were alright, could do with better bed sheets. The grocery shop next to the hotel is convenient and also the massage place next to it is worth a try.

The hotel is far enough to escape the invasive loudness of the center but close enough to navigate to the heart of the island with ease. The staff is efficient and friendly. We stayed in a room in the building which overlooked a quiet field. It was the perfect escape for some sound sleep after spending many hours at the loud parties by the beaches. Long beach is a mildly adventurous 20 minute walk away and the hotel is adjacent its own little stretch of white beach. It was good value for money and a good stay overall.

We stayed here from 3rd until 10th of January. Had a bungalow, clean and nice. Staff and service- great! Mosque is behind the left row of bungalows, but we had no problems with it. They are not so loud in the morning, so they cant wake you up. But in afternoon they sing quite louder... Breakfast good.Lack in fruit choices- only watermellon and pineapple slices. So if you are vegeterian like me- you need to satisfy yourself with that and yogurt. Scrambled eggs, noodles, pancakes, fried potatoes, sausages, cheese, salads... Variety of choices. Biggest applause for clean sheets and staff on the reception- they made our stay!

On arrival at the pier, our luggage was carried by an employee after he welcomed us just after we left the boat. With a temperature of 30, that was really welcome :)

On arrival at the reception we got wet towels and juice to freshen ourselves up. Nice!

On arrival at our room, we were really excited about the view! Sea view, while we didn't book it :) The room was great and clean, we loved it.
The pool was also great.
Breakfast was fine. We're happy when we can order our scrambled eggs, which is possible :)

When we left, our luggage was also brought to the pier again and the guy even helped us buying boat tickets to our next destination.

Less good:
- Shower. Temperature was not constant
- wifi. Not good in our room (3rd floor), but worked good everywhere else

Overall I would recommend this place, but it's pretty expensive in peak season.

I had stay in this resort for two nights and the resort overall view was nice and spacy between each bungalow with a nice garden and a pool in the center of the resort. The room decoration was simple and the bed is comfortable. However, cleanliness of the room can be improved and more variety to offer for breakfast.

Perfect location to stay on Phi Phi, great service. Someone from the hotel even meets you at the boat and carries your luggage for you. Good location to experience Phi Phi, no noise from the parties, but walking distances to them and easy to get taxi boats to the other beaches on the island. Make sure you stay in the hotel and not the bungalows. The hotel is clean and tidy, modern and value for money.

Room Tip: Make sure you stay in the hotel and not the bungalows
