Stayed for 2 nights during full moon. The pick up from the ferry pier was very good value and convenient. They also helped us book our ferry to ko tao.
The resort is set in a beautiful bay with the nicest water and view.
The room was simple but fine for us except no safe.
Breakfast was busy with lots of guests but did the job.
It was lovely laying by the water during the day.
The drop off and pick up to full moon was the best. It was so organized and we didn't have to worry about getting home. It is about 45 minutes to haad rin
There are 2 really good supermarkets next to the resort as well and nice massage on the beach

We read a lot of reviews before staying at Haad Yao Bayview and didn't have high expectations but...

The resort occupies the whole end of Haad Yao and its really a great spot. The staff was nice to us and we felt like they wanted to help us at all times . The resort is a bit expensive compared to others and sometimes you feel that you don't get full value for your money.

For travelling with kids it offers food of all kinds and a large pool with "good" water.

Sadly we had two nights sleep disturbed, one due to that our neighbours didn't stop their fullmoon party until 11 in the morning and the other one due to loud music on the beach until 3 in the morning.

I do not recommend this hotel because the staff was unreliable! We met them at the port and they said we could get three nights at their hotel. Once we were up there, they had suddenly just two nights for us. The woman who seemed to own or manage the hotel said that if it did not suit us, we could go. We felt not welcome but we had to stay at because all other hotels were full. The breakfast was also up cold and there was not much to choose from.

We stayed at Haad Yao Bayview Resort for 3 nights and I was quite surprised after reading previous reviews as we did not have a negative experience here at all. Check in was quick and easy and we found the staff to be very nice and attentive. Dinner on the beach was beautiful. You have a choice of Traditional Thai Food or BBQ. The food was fresh and you'll pay a little more then you would at other places.
Breakfast was average but there was a large selection of food.
The staff tend to 'hang around' sometimes while you're trying to eat, but this did not bother us and we only really noticed this after being told by other guests.
If you don't want to climb flights of steep stairs then request a room on a lower floor, as there are no elevators. The staff take your bags up and down from your room though.
Our room was clean and well air conditioned, the balcony was nice and big but the only downside is that it's not very private as you can see into neighbouring balconies. The shower had really low pressure, no exhaust fan in the bathroom and no door or curtain to seperate the shower from toilet so it would get quite wet in the bathroom.
The motel offers a taxi service to and from the resort for those attending the full moon party.
The pool overlooked the beach, it was clean and there were plenty of chairs so you could lie out in the sun.

We came across this hotel at the ferry jetty (they had staff there trying to sell the hotel) as we had come to koh phangan from Surathani. As we had no booked anywhere to stay, and were tired and hot, we decided to stay there. We paid 600thb per night and 100 thb each for transport. For this price, you really do only get what you pay for. Alot of the other bad reviews are justified, but at 600thb per night, I reckon you do get what you pay for and can't really expect everything to be perfect as it s not 4 or 5 star resort prices. Be forwarned though, most of the staff are really rude.BUILDING WORK IS ALSO BEING CARRIED OUT AT THE HOTEL SO BE CAREFUL WHERE YOUR ROOM IS SITUATED.

Good points:
- Food is nice, pricey, but good food with a wide range of both western and thail food.
- Rooms are really clean and big.
- Lovely beach, rooms are right by the beach so not far to walk.
- As there doesn't seem to be many people staying in the hotel, there is always a sun lounger free and more than enough staff in the restaurant, generally about 3 staff per table! Not sure why they need so many people working.
- Had a nice pool
-Lovely dinner setting on the beach at night

Bad points:
- Staff have a poor almost non-existent english which makes it impossible to get anything sorted
- Staff are really rude. The shop staff are also really rude (apparently not associated with the hotel though), mainly we believe due to lack of english, although perhaps this is being optimistic and that's just their nature?
-Very steep steps, very tiring going up and down to room.
- Building work is on-going in the hotel as they are building a new wing. The noise can be heard early morning right throughout the day.
- No more than one key is given to the room as the key connects to the air conditioning and they don't want you going out and leaving the air conditioning on. There is also a 500tbh fine for leaving it on and leaving your room.
- Airconditioning takes a long time to work
- Be prepared for cleaning/housekeeping staff to sleep on the hotel corridors during the day - not very professional!
- Internet is not free. We paid extra for wifi access but it still would not work.
- No phones in the room. Therefore if you need anything sorted, you have to go direct to reception. First hotel I have ever come across with no phone in the room.

Room:
We stayed in a seaview deluxe room with a wonderful view. The room was spacious and clean with great floor to ceiling windows, 2 free water daily, free wifi, fridge, tv, enough drawers and big closet. The only thing we missed was a shower curtain and two towels each instead of only one.

Balcony:
Good size, but difficult to use in the afternoon as it got unbearably warm before the sun went down, and we had to be careful not to get burned by touching the metal rack. We could also see into the neighbour room trough the open wooden fence between the balconies.

Restaurant:
One of the best dining restaurants at the beach, imo, with a tasty bbq at the beach and a good la carte menu in the restaurant. Great cocktails as well.
The breakfast on the other hand, was among the poorest we have ever had. Almost everything at the buffet was unhealthy, high glycemic dishes made of suger, fat and white flour. There were no vegetables or salad. No cereal, cheese or youghurt, no bacon, just some tasteless, dampened ham and sausages. I could hardly find anything to eat except from water melon and fried (cold) eggs.

Misc:
The restaurant was in the front of the hotel building, and there was a huge noisy fan sending strong smell of food up to the hotel balconies behind the kitchen.
People who are not able to climb very steep stairs, should choose to stay at the front bungalows and avoid the seaview rooms on the higher floors. The ground floor standard rooms in the building are not a good alternative as they have no balconies, garden or outdoor area to sit, and everyone passing can look into the rooms.
The staff, except from the front desk, was smiling and service minded. But there was a suspicious attitude towards the guests. For example they did try to force us to wear big signs with our room number during breakfast even if they received vouchers every morning. Embarrassing and ridiculous. And the staff almost panicked when a guest forgot to sign in the beach towel in the afternoon.
Nice pool, but we didn`t use it.
Very good massage.
It is possible to walk north to Haad Salad and south to Haad Son, but the road is very steep and hilly, so it is essential to bring enough drinking water and sun shade.
Haad Yao Bayview is not perfect, but some of the previous negative comments are unfair, imo

To make a long story short:

The location is great and the hotel is clean, the massages are great.

A shame a waiter tryed to steal my necklace and I only got it back because I had the staff checked twice,

A shame the hotel commission for a flight reservation is THB1000 for one phone call,

A shame you can get followed through the hotel and accused of "not having returned a towel" until the towel magicaly turns up 15 minutes later,

A shame that after all this you can't talk to the director (hiding) and only to a totally unprofessional "manager" who doesn't refund your remaining nights,
because that's "hotel policy".

When we got to the tourist authority of Thailand at the pier, turned out they already knew about this hotel, and they booked us in a very nice place (B52), for our last night.
