“Beauty on a beach”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Lovely beach with plenty of restaurants and places to stay but still retains a very serene and picturesque atmosphere. Good for kiddies as there are tree swings and the water is very clear. Adults can enjoy massages and most places offer a BBQ at night.

“Animal cruelty”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

This was our second stay at Had Salad and surely the last! We had to witness an old, friendly labrador dying slowly over 5 days, getting fits and foaming at the mouth. We were extremely upset that no one bothered to help the dog. A resort staff member told us the dog is being poisoned by order by the resort owner of Had Salad Villa. We called Phangan Info after the animal rescue people just left the dog on the beach as they could not help him, a very helpfull lady at Phangan info called back to say it was not the owner of Had Salad Villa that ordered the poisening but the owner of two resorts down the beach. She would not name the resort but I can count to two. We were told by the resort staff that this happens all the time! it was a very distressful experience for my daughter and I wish it on no one to experience such agony in a animal. Surely these resorts make enough money to have these unwanted animals put down in a more humane way and definitely not let us, visitors with small children witness this cruelty. I will go to Koh Toa or Samui for my next visit where there is proper care for animals!

“A bliss”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

Koh Pha-ngan is well-known fot its maddening Full Moon Parties. But the northern side of the island is still a real paradise. Life is cheap there. It is absolutely gorgeous. Salad Beach is one of the nicest. Quiet, beautiful, attractive. A real bliss. It reminded me of some of the beaches on the island of Lombok, east of Bali. Hopefully, it will remain this way for many more years. The nearby fishing village offers all the necessities and the necessary facilities.

“calm and relaxing”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

This cove is really calm. There are no noisy happenings, loud discos, not too many people even during the New Year period. The beach is not too overcrowded. There is a bunch of restaurants and massage tents, but not too many of them to make it too touristic. The shops are mainly in the two central streets, and are very basic.

The sea is shallow, but the tide in January was not too low, so there was a way to swim even at low tide. There are better access places in the left part of the cove, there are some stones on the right and weeds in the middle. The water was calm even during the rain.
