“Perfect relaxation with amazing food”
Reviewed October 30, 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed at Salad Hut for 5 nights in Oct and absolutely loved it. Accommodation is simple but perfect - very close to the beach and gorgeous wooden floors & decking. The food at Salad Hut was out of this world. The banana pancakes for breakfast were to die for. We tried many things on the menu and everything was delicious and top quality. The baguettes for lunch deserve a mention - only the freshest ingredients tomato, lettuce, onion, cucumber & tuna/cheese. The staff were great too and I loved the rule of no shoes - accelerated the relaxation!
Don't hesitate to book a stay here if you fancy laid back, relaxing destination with great food.

We have been to these bungalows 3 times now as a family of 4. It's amazing value for such a stunning beach front setting. The infinity pool looks straight onto the beach and the view is gorgeous. The price of the rooms includes breakfast which is great, offering a choice of about 4 styles of breakfast. I always go for the muesli and fresh fruit option: this also comes with 'real' coffee and a fresh fruit shake. We have found the food here the best in the resort, when we have tried elsewhere the food has never been as nice as Salad Hut. It's also a great place to visit with young children as it is so peaceful and they are really safe. The only tiny complaint is we found the beds quite hard but the stunning setting makes up for it.

Room Tip: There are a few new bungalows overlooking the sea which look a bit bigger and suitable for families.

Great bungalow, great pool, great restaurant, great beach and great personal. What could I say more? Salad Hut gave us (2 adults and a 2,5 yr old child) the true holiday feeling. The only bad thing about it is that the return to reality is so hard....

Been to Salad Hut a few times over the years, but since the addition of the Infinity Pool in the last couple of years this place has become perfect.

Great beach - though more gearded towards couples and families (just so you know) - and the best resort by fart when combining the various attributes of cost, quality and service.

We got a free upgrade to a lovely family bungalow. Wonderful decor, very clean, and a stunning location. Please note that Salad Huts is not your 10 bucks a night type of Thai Venue, but the price is worth it.

The food is some of the best Thai food we have ever eaten (and we have eaten a lot) and the service is outstanding. Friendly, effective and efficient, and ALWAYS a smile.

Try it; you won't be disappointed. Near perfection.

This is definately one of, if not the best beaches in Koh Phangan and Salad Hut has possibly the best spot on it. However, cracks soon start to appear in this initially perceived paradise!
One of the problems with the Thai Islands is the lack of planning process for beach resorts. They just seem to build them wherever they want, using any old materials with little thought to the environment of the image of the locality. Often these resorts just use plain concrete where they join the beach and this looks awful and spoils the look of the beach.

This does not apply to Salad Huts though as their huts are all dark wood and tastefully set out. The wall that separates them from the beach has stone in it and it looks much more natural than all of the others on Salad Beach.

The rooms, although facing the sea do not have sea views as this is obstructed by trees, plants etc. This gives some privacy, but I would rather be able to see the sea! From the outside the rooms look really nice, each with a large outside day bed and a hammock. Inside the rooms are not great. Very plain with simple toilet/shower. Our sink had a broken tap that barely trickled water and could not control temparature. The fan was very old and very very noisy so much that we didn;t use it as it kept us awake.

We had a family bungalow as this was all that was left and this had two double beds. We started off with four towlels on the room but each time they cleaned the room they took one away, so they went down the three then two, even though we had paid for four! Plus they smelt like they hadn't been cleaned properly. A bit musty/ B.O.' ish.

The staff here were really friendly at first but this soon wears off with some of them and you are just another customer who they have to serve etc.

The breakfasts are average, and you have to chose off a set menu rather than a buffet style which means you dont get the usual variety.

Dinner in the evening was quite expensive, but very good quality. I had a lovely Thai Green Curry one night which was very very good and very hot. Just how I like it. Most restaurants in thailand seem to have got a lot dearer than the last time I visited so this is not a particular moan at Salad Huts, just a general complaint! I dont suppose the £/Bht ex rate helps though as we only got 46 to the £ as apposed to over 60 in the past. This restaurant was always busy as other people can use it and is an indicator of the good food quality.

We paid about £50 per night for our room including breakfast and I believe this was not good value.

At first Salad Beach (Haad Salad) is one of the nicest beaches in Phangan. If not the best. It's relatively small and secluded but there are just enough hotels, bungalows, bars and great massage places, not to get bored. The atmosphere is laid-back and the sunset to die for!

Salad Hut is everything what you already can read in the positive reviews. When I only think of the fantastic breakfast my mouth starts watering. When we were there the restaurant was packed every night. Mostly great food (Thai and Western) for reasonable prices. What also stands out is that the staff is not only very friendly and attentive, but very efficient as well. (you don't see that often in Thailand...I mean efficiency)

We had a wonderful week in Salad Hut -I miss it already- with only one 'defect': in the European summer holidays there are mostly (Scandinavian) families with young children, even lots of babies. So if you hate (blond) kids, don't go there in June, July and August :-)

We stayed at Salad Hut during our trip around SE Asia and really loved it!
Haad Salad is one of the best all-round beaches on Koh Phangan as it has enough going on (plenty of bars and restaurants) whilst having a relaxed atmosphere free from drunk partygoers.
The resort itself has basic, but clean and tidy bungalows each with their own balcony and hammock, The pool area is a real bonus and from what we could see, was the only pool along the beach. The restaurant served excellent food including the best breakfast we had in Asia. The staff were very helpful and assisted in organising our onward travel.
Only downside is the taxi service to the pier which costs an additional THB150 per person. Why not include this in the room price since it is the only way to get to and from the ferry ?
Overall we had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back.
