“Fantastic Staff made our stay wonderfully memorable”
Reviewed April 29, 2010

My wife, myelf and four friends stayed in Milky Bay in March 2010. We had the most amazing time which was made special by the caring attitude of the staff. We renewed our wedding vows at Milky Bay and nothing was too difficult. It was a magical occasion that we will never forget.
Because we loved it so much , we are going back with our 2 teenage children in 2011.
We highly recomend Milky Bay for anyone who is looking for a holiday with a personal touch.

We stayed for 12 nights, myself and my wife in Villa V.1 and my daughter,son-in-law & 2 grandchildren in Villa V3. The rooms were spacious and had all we needed,Air Con,Shower,Hot & Cold, Tv, Minibar ,Nice comfy bed and importantly a safe for your passports and money etc. The resort is well laid out with jungle like & tranquil setting. The restaurant was good and the food delicious with plenty of choice. The Milky bay breakfast is great.
The staff were very, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A really professional team. The pool bar is good and fresh pissa was cooked most nights...The sunsets are incredible and something to behold. The swimming pool is nice and clean and has a nice shady part with a roof. A good hideaway fom the scorching sun.
We were treated exceptionally well by all the staff and would recomment the resort without reservation.
Myself and my wife will definately be returning to Milky Bay Resort.

We booked 5 nights at milky bay resort in advance based on the good reviews at tripadvisor. And we were really disappointed. First of all the location is in the middle of nowhere. The hotell taxi service is expensive. You could always go to the main raid and get a taxi from there. The beach is picture perfect, but useless due to low tides. The pool is deep, and good for swimming, but a little small. They should move the pool near the beach. The villa we booked looked as terrible in real life as the pictures. All the furnitures are made of concrete. The one positive thing about the place was the hotell resturant, every meal we tried tasted great. The breakfast is a little small. The staff were fun and ok. The little restaurant at the main road to the left from the hotell going out had great and really cheap food. Wifi connection was free, but only functioned in the reception.

We stayed in a bungalow style accommodation for 2 nights along with a large selection of critters including mosquitos. The air conditioning systems were inadequate and the bathroom looked like something on a campsite. The staff were reluctant to help explaining that the air conditioning was on, they also told us there were no other rooms available so we couldn't change rooms. When we threatened to leave another room suddenly became available and we switched rooms. The air conditioning was slightly better and the reception provided a fan for us. Taxis were expensive and there is very little in the immediate area. The food is good in the restaurant, however, for the £50 per night we paid it was the worst value for money we experienced in Thailand.

My partner and I travelled to Thailand without booking any hotels and it was actually the information desk at Bangkok Airport that suggested the Milky Bay resort. From the pictures it looked lovely but we were dubious as to whether we really would get to stay in such a gorgeous room.

When we arrived at 6am there was someone there to greet us, after a few language barrier problems we were shown to our room which was AMAZING! It was a mini apartment but had only cost us around £60 per night. We had a huge space with separate living area and TV, huge bed, massive fridge/freezer and a lovely wet room/bathroom. Everything in the room looked pretty and cared for, small touches like paintings, vases and ornaments made it all feel very authentic.

The location of Milky Bay is off of a main road but you do feel a little like there is nothing much to do on the main road so I would suggest that if you want a mix of relaxation and going out and about to rent a motorbike, something we did not do. We used taxis to get around which was fine as it was very cheap but not for the faint hearted as you often have to jump on the back of someones truck!

The staff at Milky Bay were wonderful! We had a few language barrier problems but through our own ignorance of not learning enough Thai! The hotel Manager, Natalie, is fluent in English and always on hand to help and is very friendly, always smiling and asking how our stay was. The restaurant staff were equally friendly and a pleasure to talk to. They always went the extra mile and offered to bring our drinks out on to the beach when we ordered them at the bar or recommending drinks/food when you do not know what you want.

The general staff would always greet you with a smile and always happy to help which was great for me being pregnant as any time I was carrying a heavy bag one of the male staff members would always come running along to help me out! One of them even came and removed a giant cockroach from our apartment for us!

The food at the resort is very good value for money. Breakfast is included and although it is a la carte it is a good selection of hot/cold food both fried and fresh/healthy. The lunch and dinner menus offer a variety of both English and traditional Thai food all at very very good prices. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, it is right on the beachfront and has no windows so the breeze comes in (no mosquitos!!) and if you are celebrating a special occassion the staff are happy to put a table out on the beach for you complete with candles, lovely.

The cleanliness of the hotel was second to none, staff were always up first thing in the morning cleaning everywhere and laying down new wood chippings on the paths between the villas. Our room was always cleaned thoroughly and promptly.

The reception staff were very very helpful. They booked all of our trips for us and helped us out when we needed to book flights back to bangkok by booking us on the ferry, sorting us out with a taxi to the port and also allowing us to use their office printer to print out our flight confirmation from our email.

The great thing about the staff at the milky bay is that they all come across as genuine. In some hotels you get the feeling that people are helping you so that they can earn a tip but at the Milky Bay you get the impression that they just want to help you and make sure you have a lovely holiday.

Overall this is a luxurious gem of a hotel that we felt we got absolute value for money for. I would recommend it to couples (young or old!) who want a relaxing holiday and honeymooners wanting a romantic experience. I do not think this is the resort for parents and families as there is not enough to keep kids entertained although it is not marketed as a family resort anyway.

We enjoyed our four day stay at the Milky Bay so much that we stayed another four days!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights and really didn't want to leave. The resort itself was gorgeous and really well looked after with lots of nice little touches. We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a superior room which looked quite new and was perfect for us. The staff were lovely and made us feel really welcome, the general atmosphere in the hotel with other guests was also really nice, everyone was very friendly. The food was wonderful and well above average. Although a few people would say it's expensive, it's really not, especially as the taste and portion sizes are pretty good. The cocktails were also delicious. We were here during the half moon and the hotel arranged taxis to take people there. Swimming pool was nice, the beach was also lovely, we especially liked being able to walk out to the sand bank during low tide. We really don't have a bad word to say about this place, it really was relaxing and enjoyable in every way. We'll definitely be returning to Milky Bay!

Our stay at Milky Bay was very relaxing. The Villa was newly refurbished and had everything we needed. Very clean and comfortable. The food was superb. All dishes we tried came as positive surprises, even the european. The only thing we found a bit limiting was the very shallow water on the beach, but this would be perfect for smaller children and I also suspect the tide to be very low at the time of our visit. Full moon......
