Firstly, what a beautiful view. Literally one big rock away from the Full Moon Party (not that you can walk around that rock - you have to walk 15 mins in the other direction up a dirt track) but far enough away that the beach is not covered in scummy litter like Haad Rin.
The beach is a clean, peaceful paradise (and I really mean that), a cove shared by one other expensive-looking bungalow resort (Sarikantang) which is far away enough not to notice (plus you can sneak into their pool...).
There is a lovely communal hut with a bar and cushions which is great for convening in the evenings. Serves some pretty good Thai dishes too. There is a hammock right on the water's edge and a few massage beds.
HOWEVER. In my opinion you have to get one of the beachfront huts, these look to be in the cleanest area.
The huts themselves are the definition of basic; literally a garden shed with peeling tiles and we saw a few cockroaches, plus I'm pretty sure the hosepipe shower was just spurting out sea water. You do get a big mosquito net and the hut balcony is nice if you're by the shore.
There are dogs that run up and down the beach. I never saw them being aggressive towards or even taking notice of people but they do bark at the other dogs which is annoying. Luckily the huts are on stilts so they can't get up there. Also, hornets in June. Eurgh.
To get to the bungalows you have to take a dirt track up past Same-Same bar which cars won't be able to make and it's a hell of a walk in the heat with a backpack. There is an easier tarmac way through the other resort so take that when possible and just walk left along the beach.
Buuuut for all intents and purposes (i.e. party at night, beach in the day) this was a great little place to go. If anything it was worth it for the views and experience of sleeping in a hut. Wouldn't have been able to stay more than 3 nights though.
OH, and plan your taxi journey to the ferry a few days ahead, we almost got caught out.
