“Great beach, one of best on island”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

Really lovely beach and a great little village with some fantastic restaurants. This has a lot more character and traditonal feel than many other areas, we were quite happy spending four days here without going stir crazy. More relaxed and better beach than the southern bay.

“Beautiful Beach but issues with transportation”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

I stayed on Thong Nai Pan Noi in December 2012-January 2013 in Buri Rasa, a fantastic hotel on the beach. To be fair during our time the weather was overcast and the beach rough so that we were unable to swim but I can imagine it would be beautiful when the weather is better. The main issue with this beach is a reflection of an issue of Koh Phangan as an island as a whole - transportation. A taxi costs 300 baht PER PERSON each way from most other locations in the island. This is possible due to both aspects of greed and also the fact the a lot of the road travelled is rough, potholed dirt road which is very tough going. Regardless it makes this a difficult place to travel both to and away from (if you wanted to base yourself here on the island). Another option would be to hire a scooter but this is also difficult due to the fact the roads are mountainous (known locally as the 'mountain of tears'), dirt, potholly and hard to navigate at the best of times, particularly at night. In addition if you wanted to have anything to drink elsewhere you couldn't drive home and if you wrecked your scooter you would be charged and exorbitant amount of money by the person who rented you the scooter.

Nice to chill out at the beach bar, but a bit difficult to get there with moped (road is broken) if take taxi from town will cost you 300 each one way!

“Gorgeous beach!”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Our accommodation was on this beaches southern sister which is equally beautiful & a bit quieter. Both have clean sand, blue sea & palm trees. Away from the madling crowds of Haad Rin which is very welcome.
