The bungalows were not fully completed on our arrival and we had some problems with animals etc finding their way in, no additional toilet roll was provided, they were not cleaned in the 4 days we were there and no brushes etc for us to do it ourselves, the beach which the bugalows are located near is not very good and it's a bit of a drive to find a decent one, the locals were friendly and helpful and the restaurant across the road served good food, all in all ok given the price payed but wouldn't go back again.

This is by far my favourite place in Thailand! We were only supposed to stay four days but extended our stay to 10 as we literally fell in love with The Smile and Koh Phangan. We would have stayed longer if we didn't have any engagements that dragged us away. The location is great with the most beautiful sunsets, nested perfectly between Tong Sala and some of the most beautiful beaches of the island. The restaurant is right on the beach with beautiful views of neighbouring islands. The bungalows are not more than 50m way from the beach and are large with king size beds, air-con, plenty of storage and fridge. However what really makes this place a gem is Kara and Lolo. Kara is an amazing cook, we highly recommend all the food but our favourite was her Massaman curry. Lolo is the life and soul of the bar with comic anecdotes and knowledge of the island. With a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, we spent most evenings there! They are a beautiful couple who made us feel like part of the family, we will definitely return on our next vacation!

We had the standard bungalow with air con. The inside was beautiful, very nicely decorated and had some handy storage, a TV, a fridge, a window seat and a rather big bed. The sink in the bathroom however drained straight on the floor which made brushing you teeth end with washing your feet. Outside we had a raised porch/terrace with another couple of seats and a hammock, ours was ripped in half so not so useful.

The staff were OK, not brilliant to be honest. We asked them to call for a taxi but they told us we just had to stand in the road and wait. However the shop over the road offered a taxi service that we had to find out for ourselves.

The restaurant was pretty dire, everything on the specials board was unavailable as was anything that sounded nice in the menu. My girlfriend had a cheese burger that arrived as a burger and the cheese slice came separately on a plate as they had forgotten it. The burger turned out to be really tough and gristly. I had some wholewheat pancake thing with cheese and a burger just dumped on the side of the plate and a fried egg in the middle, again not great.
There was a lovely view from there though out over the water. Maybe pop in for a couple of drinks and watch the sunset which was beautiful.

If you stay here you should eat in the place to the left, they had huge portions and they were stocked up on ingredients.

We booked with HostelWorld.com and got our room for half of what it was advertised for on the desk about 500 baht

Room Tip: one with complete plumbing

The photos are a little deceiving the bungalows are not on the beach but hey the restaurant is....the beach is not very good for swimming.....the bungalows are basic....we got the superior bungalow which was ok but upon checking in there was no fridge, they did go get us one very quickly.....i was unwell our 1st day here so stayed in bed all day the aircon struggled to keep the bungalow cool I very warm it was find @ night......by the 2nd night we had a lot of large ants in our room which I am guessing came in through the bathroom drain hole which had no cover on it & drained straight to the ground below....the balcony did have a nice hammock to lay in but it is rather of putting to look @ where they dump there rubbish.....I think with a little more love & attention these could be good but for now not for us.

We went to Koh Phangan for one and only one motive, freakin' FULL MOON PARTY. This place has served its best in making our party more funny and with all comforts. I would say:
-- The place is nice with friendlier staff and cheap & good food.
-- The rooms are clean and properly maintained.
-- Place is quite close to an awesome beach, so awesome.
-- If ur going for Full moon party and all the places close to Haad Rin are full, go for this.
-- There are lots of nice travelers staying there, so a lot can happen over there.

Room Tip: Take a room with AC, hard to survive without it. If you are going for FULL MOON PARTY, this resort...

The bungalows are basic, but clean & the beds are comfy. You get your private hammock and the bungalows are just across the street from Hinkong beach (great sunsets, beach itself is ok). There are several restaurants, a supermarket and a tourist information (they also offer motorcycle rentals) and it is only a 10 minute ride to Thong Sala. You can also easily drive to the beaches in the west and north, which are amazing! We were pretty much the only guests at the time (just after the Full Moon party in the low season). Take earplugs since there are many dogs around and sometimes they start fighting and barking when you want to sleep. AC worked great (we had to use our sleeping bag inlets since we the place only provides a thin sheet). Only downsights: the door was a little jammed & we had trouble opening it (but I guess that's an easy fix) & some new towels would have been great (we stayed 6 nights & used our own at the end; to be fair however: the owner wasn't around at the end & we didn't ask the guys running the place at that time). All in all great value for money!

Room Tip: Get an AC room.
