Everything about the experience of dining at the Beachlounge was exceptional. The great thing about the restaurant is that it's also a quirky and idiosyncratic experience as well.
We arrived very early as we'd booked very late and only an early table was available. The menu is varied and interesting with fine dining Thai style with brilliant European influences.
An Austrian who co-owns with a Thai chef makes the restaurant incredibly polite, well organised, with service standards from Thai people of high Western restaurant quality.
Having someone talk you through each option on the menu with obvious pride in the locally caught and ridiculously fresh fish is idiosyncratic but wonderful and helps prepare your palate for the meal. What it can't prepare you for though is the presentation which is utterly impeccable.
The cocktails are very strong the shakes are delicious and the Illy coffee is the best on the Island - they even have decaf. The situation is 'tropical paradise' down an unlit dirt track on a beach.
My son and I were the only people who weren't romantic couples - all the rest of the dinner guests were having such a special time together.
Just go. It'll be the best culinary experience of your entire stay on the Island.
If you're a romantic couple - it's the 'must go' destination.
