“Excellent Accommodation and Location”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

We stayed in this resort for 5 nights during the full moon period. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. We attended the full moon party on the opposite beach which was a safe 10min walk away. It allowed us to get some sleep while still enjoying the madness. We paid a bit extra for a beachfront and it was worth it. We were positioned right onto what felt like a private beach. The owners were friendly and accommodating. also had the option to get your room cleaned everyday. I would recommend this resort to family and friends

Blue Marine Resort is located opposite of the full moon beach. It is a 10 minute walk through the village to the big beach. So you can enjoy the quietness and chill atmosphere and combine it with some nightlife and still have a good night sleep. The rooms are good. Clean and comfortable. The owners are friendly and trustworthy. We always recommend Blue Marine to our friends and families!

I stayed here for the March 2013 FMP for 4 nights with a friend. The "Resort" was nice at first but after a quick tour discovered this was not really a resort. No pool and it backs on to a very dirty beach. I still swam in it but didn't last long after noticing some bad looking floating items.

The prices were reasonable for what we were given, the rooms were big enough but the bathroom/shower were not much good. I didn't like the process used for cleaning rooms (leaving the key at reception) as they were not very secure and once noticed a random man going through the keys while we waited for a scooter.

I read previous comments regarding scooter hire but can report we had no problems hiring a scooter each day of our stay. I found the prices very good for scooter hire.

The manager was friendly but didn't provide much service to us when we asked for advice and Information. Though he was very strict on how we left the rooms after checkout.

The location of the hotel is convienent for arrival by ferri as its a simple 3 minute stroll down the beach to reach it. It was just a tad far from the main beach though and I became very set on riding a scooter into the parties each night. It was totally silent at night, no noise from the wildness down the road reaches the rooms. It was good for morning sleepins as we were right up the hill on the back of the hotel.

Overall next time I'd probably try to find something closer to the action. I'd recommend this place to older people or people wanting something away from the noise. To the owner of this resort, build a pool and it would make your claim of a resort a little more acceptable.

a really nice place , the rooms are nice clean and well equipped.
We had a room on the beach with a nice porch.
The staff was really helpfull and nice and the price was good for what we got.
We recommand staying in this place.

Room Tip: pay a little more to get a room closer to the beach , it's worth the difference.

Would highly recommend, compared to some places we have stayed this is clean and the staff were lovely.

It takes 10 mins max to walk to sunrise beach ( full moon party beach ) and 5 mins if that from the main pier.

We got off the boat and asked a taxi driver to take us, he pointed us in the right direct and we walked as it wasn't far.

I would certainly come back here! 5 out of 5

Hope this helps

Just spent 1 night in Haad Rin a few days before one of the famous parties, which I have no interest in whatsoever, just wanted a quick look around the town. I wanted somewhere quiet, clean, with a frig, good A/C & wifi, the bungalow met all my requirements.

Had a greats nights sleep with no noise whatsoever. The main beach is only 10 mins walk or so away, with a huge choice of bars, shops, restaurants etc for whatever you wanted. The staff were friendly & helpful both on check-in & check-out.

Please note that the term "resort" does not refer to what westerners would call a resort, its just a fancy name used in Thailand. I've got no idea what the place would be like when all the "party" people arrive for their "fun", but at least it will be a lot quieter than the other side of the peninsula :)

Calling itself a resort is a far cry from what it actually is. the rooms are basic and expensive for what you actually get, even for thailand. but this wasnt the issue we had with this place.

Aside from the man and lady at the check in counter being anything but friendly i think they are quite happy to see you ripped off. It happens everywhere in thailand so be careful. Its just the way the staff acted during the situation that really reflects badly on their business. story goes like this:
they had scooters and bikes outside to rent and we wanted to rent one. the guy said he'd get his friend to come down with the forms. apparently they were just getting paid to advertise for someone else (their friend), when he arrived we paid him for the day (usual price) but didn't want to leave our pass ports.

both the motorbike guy and the hotel staff enthusiastically assured us it would be fine and that the passports would be left at the check in counter. they proceeded to demonstrate it was the done thing by taking out a bunch of other peoples' pass ports and waving them in our faces. that turned us right off.

just the fact that they were willing to unlock the safe and show us what other people had entrusted them with should have been enough for us to give up the idea of using them.

we decided to put a deposit down which was the other alternative the renter offered. he said we could leave it with the hotel and the hotel guy said he'd look after it. somewhat satisfied that was it.

upon bringing the bike back they hotel asked when we needed to leave to catch our ferry and then rang the bike renter. they told him what time we were leaving and he conveniently said that he couldnt get there until half an hr before we had to leave. alarm bells started to ring. sure enough he said we'd scratched it. we hadn't. he said it was going to cost B6000 (AU$200) to fix. complete stitch-up.

we walked right into it unfortunately. he was really jumpy and kept trying to leave without giving any of our bond back. the hotel had given it to him as soon as we left and just looked stupidly on as i asked why. the time constraint was a nice touch, which meant we couldnt afford to argue for too long or call anyone of authority. when the topic of the tourist police came up we literally had to grab him to stop him from leaving, again with all our deposit. i guarantee if we had of gone to the police he would have just totally disappeared.

as this all unfolded the staff all disappeared i found them hiding out the back. they said it was nothing to do with them and gave us advice for renting bikes in the future. when i asked again why they didnt give this advice at the start they just looked stupidly away. It was hard not to feel stupid ourselves in this situation but we were inexperienced.

we were charged and end of story. we have learnt a lot from this and have ourselves to blame but hate just how much the staff of Blue Marine were willing to let us get swindled on a service that they offered/advertised right next to the reception. maybe they get a cut i dont know but they seemed friendly enough with bike renter for it to be suspicious. all in all i suppose this isnt a review of the accom (poor as it was) but rather what the staff of the establishment are like and willing to do/not willing to do.

Just on a matter of principal i cant recommend Blue Marine Resort to anyone. there are other places to go, i would go elsewhere.

p.s. there was one man who smiled a lot and was friendly enough but i think he had little to do with the running of the place and still disappeared when "you know what" hit the fan.
