“Pick Air-con Room for Comfort”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2012

Stayed here with a friend for four nights. First we tried the fan-cooled bungalow (400 baht / day for a twin room, one double bed), but at this time of the year it was far too hot and too little removed from the surrounding nature. This means a giant spider was running around in the corners, lizards roaming the walls, some mosquitoes finding the cracks of the floor and, worst of all, little ants marching on the beds.

After one night in that sweaty bungalow we changed to an air-con room (700 baht / day, twin room with one double bed). It had a tv, free wifi (only reaches the restaurant and first floor rooms), hot shower and it was clean and almost bug-free. After a nearly sleepless night in the bungalow, it was heaven. The sounds from the beach could barely be heard there, but we weren't here during a Full Moon Party.

The staff were very helpful and friendly - I really liked the two ladies' eagerness to help with our questions even though the younger of them didn't speak much English. They also take care of your travel arrangements for you for a decent price, if you need that. We bought a ferry ticket directly from the hotel with taxi and minibus transport between piers and towns. There were no problems and I think we could've only saved something like 50 baht if we'd have gotten all of them ourselves from the stations as we went. This way was easier.

All in all, I really liked my time at Sea Garden Resort & Spa and would like to give a special thank you to the staff. I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: The first floor hotel rooms have wifi. Skip the fan-cooled bungalows if you're afraid of bugs.

This is the third time i stay here. First time was 2009, 2010 and now 2012. This time it was me and my friend Emma.
It hasn't changed much. The fan bungalows are a bit smelly and run-down, but high season and 500 baht for 2 ppl (can fit 3 or 4) its ok. We moved to a air con room that was really nice. Looked new and clean and had a TV.
The staff was very friendly and helpful when we had a lot of stupid questions. They never tried to rip us off, and helped us in any way they could.
The "hotel" is near the Haad Rin party beach, very near. So you can hear a bit of the music in the evening/night. So if your a light sleeper, this is not for you. But if your a party goer, this is the place to live.
I will definitely come back there, and will recommend it to friends and all of you. :)

WE Travelled here as a couple in Jan. We ended up staying in this resort for 8 days and we really enjoyed our time there.
WE haggled the price down to £14 a night to stay in one of the big bungalos with a.c t.v. although there are a few other options that are cheaper, such as fan,or no t.v and they also have apartment rooms that are smaller.
our room was clean and spacious, with a nice porch to sit out on. It had a double and single bed inside. It was also nice a quiet on the evenings. ALthough the bar staff can be quite ignorant,it didn't ruin our stay.
The location was great, next to a small town, with all your needs and a 2 minute walk to the full moon beach. ALthough not a great place to sun bathe as the tide is in in the day time, and the sea is sharpe with lots of stones. There is a much much nicer beach a 10minute walk away called leela beach.
We got it at this price as weren't there for the full moon week, where the price would at least double and would def be fully booked.
Would stay here again if we returned.

Based on location alone, the bungalows are in a good spot off the beach. Inside, they're really basic, not particularly clean, and they were very dark and dingy.

The staff weren't at all accommodating and we had a few frustrating encounters. When we were leaving, we told them we were heading off early to take the boat to Ko Tao and they said they'd be there to collect our key, and return the key deposit. None of the staff turned up, so the minibus driver (through the Backpackers Information Centre) waited, and made lots of calls, to no avail.

The short story is that they wouldn't give us back our deposit, so the Backpackers Information Centre had to get involved and managed to sort it out for us, and forwarded the money to the Crystal Dive Centre where we were staying. It wasn't a huge amount of money but it was more about the principle and the whole saga left us with a really bad feeling.
