What an amazing place to stay! We came for the Full Moon Party (minimum 5 night stay), and stayed in a beachfront bungalow. This place was such a paradise to come back to after nights of partying in Haad Rin and at the Full Moon Party. It is secluded away from everything else so it is very peaceful and quiet. Everything is beautiful from the bungalows to the beach. They advertise as being ~5 minutes from Thong Sala which is accurate.

The staff is extremely helpful as they help you rent a scooter (a scooter is definitely needed to get around, however we heard stories of some companies driving around with a truck and identifying their scooters and lifting them or dinking them, so be careful!), arrange other transportation (they arranged a truck to take everyone to the Full Moon Party), give recommendations, etc. The restaurant has excellent food and it is fairly priced. There are hammocks and cushions to sit on around the restaurant to relax on (in addition to tables / chairs, of course). They also have plenty of kayaks and other water equipment that you can rent. Wifi is free. The only gripe I have about the service is that they don't clean your room whatsoever (no fresh sheets, towels, etc). You will need to ask if you need fresh towels, more shampoo, etc.

Our beachfront bungalow was simple (no TV), nice, clean, comfortable and was right on the beach. There is NO air conditioning, but it was perfectly fine for us as there were plenty of fans. The hammock on the front porch was great as it was a nice way to relax, unwind, watch the sunset and listen to the waves at night.

Shambhala was such an amazing place to stay at. It is extremely peaceful and relaxing with amazing sunset views. I would definitely recommend staying at a beachfront bungalow (they are ~$40 / night). However, if you require air conditioning, a TV or room cleaning service, this is not the place for you.

Room Tip: Definitely try to get a beachfront bungalow.

Shambhala Bungalow Village is, by far, the best place I would recommend you to stay in Koh Phangan.

Whether you are planning to visit Koh Phangan for a romantic weekend on the beach, a solo travel to disconnect from the world, or with friends for a full moon party, Shambhala Bungalow Village offers all that you may need.

One step from the beach, you will be accompanied all the day by the sound of the waves!
Conveniently located 5 minutes from Tong Sala pier and city centre, and at the same time in a very quiet beach surrounded by nature.

Thanks to all the staff, and specially to Carlo, Daha & Jon for all your help and attentiveness. I had a great time and I look forward to return soon!

All the best!

We spent a very relaxing 5 days in Shambala Bungalow Village. Our charming room (number 5) had a view of the ocean but was shaded by stunning tropical foliage, and kept cool by keeping all the windows open - we didn't need a fan. We locked our things away in a lockable cupboard, however, there is also a safe in the restaurant/lounge area if you want more security.

The staff were very helpful and super friendly. They also have a number of cats and dogs, which adds to the chilled out family vibe. We felt right at home, and would definitely recommend these bungalows to those of you wanting a real Thai beach experience.

Shambhala Bungalows are located right on the beach and only 2km from Thongsala. We walked into town everyday and taxied back. You can hire a scooter if you prefer.

We've had a fantastic time here and look forward to returning!

If you are looking for a warm, friendly place to stay with beautiful location and friendly company, then you should definitely consider Shambhala. My partner and I arrived here from Bangkok via Koh Samui and have thoroughly enjoyed our 6 nights. We booked a superior beachview bungalow, only a minute from the laid back restaurant on the beach. Everyone working here has been welcoming (thank you, Carlo, Daha, and Jon) and we really enjoyed meeting the cosmopolitan mixture of German, Swiss, French, Chilean, and Scandinavian guests. The rooms are clean, shower with hot water, bedding fresh, food tasty, beach front clean, sea wonderfully warm, and sunsets on this side of the island as romantic as you could want :) We've had fun seeing some of the more touristic things, like the snake show about 20 minutes from here by taxi, but have most enjoyed lazing around in a peaceful atmosphere, reading, while sipping the banana & coconut shakes ... Would love to come here again!

Room Tip: The beach front bungalows look great, but are quickly booked out. Our sea view bungalow was lovely...

Very charming, very clean, they have used alot of raw materials in a very stileful way. It is 5 min. from thongsala town. Nice clean beach, and very good restaurant.

Lovely place to stay not even for sunset. Nice spot on the island, bit north of ThongSala - my fav. place to relax on the beach, surf, sail or hang around. Not easy to get one of the three beachfront huts without reservation. The gardenhuts are also very nice - same same but different, every hug has his special flaire - and all of the has amazing seaview. the new appartements on the entrance are very spacy and have a/c, tv and nice veranda with seaview.

@john: Thanks for the best CubaLibre on the Island :)

hope to see u next year again

Chris

I stayed here with 3 other friends, and we rented the family bungalow at the top, of which had a double bunk-bed. Except the rain, and the fact that we only had 1 night here, it was a perfect night!

The bungalow was clean, spacious, decorated well, a great balcony/communal area with a hammock and candles and cushions, fantastic view.

The restaurant on the beach, and the beach itself, was also very lovely. Very secluded; which we wanted!

These bungalows do not come Koh Phangan cheap however (by this I mean, they are very cheap by European/American standards per person, but you will definitely find something cheaper on Phangan, if you want it). Our 4 person family bungalow set us back 1,300baht = $43.

Also, the bungalows are not on the busy Hadd Rin Beach (Full Moon Party), and are quite further north on the island. It is very quiet, which we wanted, however you can rent a scooter for 200baht per 24hours and drive to the nearest village, only 5mins away.
