What an amazing place to stay! We came for the Full Moon Party (minimum 5 night stay), and stayed in a beachfront bungalow. This place was such a paradise to come back to after nights of partying in Haad Rin and at the Full Moon Party. It is secluded away from everything else so it is very peaceful and quiet. Everything is beautiful from the bungalows to the beach. They advertise as being ~5 minutes from Thong Sala which is accurate.
The staff is extremely helpful as they help you rent a scooter (a scooter is definitely needed to get around, however we heard stories of some companies driving around with a truck and identifying their scooters and lifting them or dinking them, so be careful!), arrange other transportation (they arranged a truck to take everyone to the Full Moon Party), give recommendations, etc. The restaurant has excellent food and it is fairly priced. There are hammocks and cushions to sit on around the restaurant to relax on (in addition to tables / chairs, of course). They also have plenty of kayaks and other water equipment that you can rent. Wifi is free. The only gripe I have about the service is that they don't clean your room whatsoever (no fresh sheets, towels, etc). You will need to ask if you need fresh towels, more shampoo, etc.
Our beachfront bungalow was simple (no TV), nice, clean, comfortable and was right on the beach. There is NO air conditioning, but it was perfectly fine for us as there were plenty of fans. The hammock on the front porch was great as it was a nice way to relax, unwind, watch the sunset and listen to the waves at night.
Shambhala was such an amazing place to stay at. It is extremely peaceful and relaxing with amazing sunset views. I would definitely recommend staying at a beachfront bungalow (they are ~$40 / night). However, if you require air conditioning, a TV or room cleaning service, this is not the place for you.
