Went there with a friend of mine over the full moon party in August. Rooms were average but tidy. Location wise this is quite remote and you are dependent on their "taxi service" which was 100 Baht per person just to get to Thong Sala pier. The female manager/owner was only interested in your money and the female waitress had no intention of making any attempt to communicate with any of the guests. Even taking orders she would just throw you a dirty glance. You could really feel how they despised their guests. Breakfast was rubbish with flies all over the little fruit left at the buffet. My friend felt really sick and we were looking to get to the hospital. The first question the manager was asking was not whether my friend felt alright or what was the issue, she demanded the 100 Baht per person right away! When we asked her about ferry tickets to get to Krabi two days after the full moon party she just said there were no tickets left. Clearly she hoped we were stuck on the island and stayed for another night. Given that we did not trust her at all we enquired at the pier and surprise, surprise one could still purchase tickets to get off the island. Avoid this resort - the staff/management are just horrible and only after your money!

I stayed here with two friends and we don't really have any complaints. They hadnt received our request for a triple room but they quickly sorted it out. There was a bus service to the full moon party, lovely rooms with a nice view, friendly staff. We ate quite alot in the restaurant and the food was nice and reasonably priced. The hotel staff helped one of my friends organise a diving trip. Recommend if you want a comfortable, cheap place to stay!

Me and 3 friends booked pool side villas for 1 night so we had someplace to stay during the full moon party. The hotel looks really nice from pictures, but it's a different story when you get there. However it was cheap so that was what we were looking for.

Pros:
- cheap
- free wi-Fi (only in non-AC lobby tho)
- shuttle to the full moon party (300 baht)

Cons:
- arrived to a dirty room, bathroom door was locked, AC wasnt working
- found dog poop in my room and front desk didn't understand what I was trying to tell them so they never cleaned it up
- asked to switch rooms and were told they were booked even tho we were the few people there
- poolside villas have a lot of bugs
- staff doesn't speak great English and they were not very fiendly besides letting us play with their dog
- pool was filthy

All in all it ended up working for the night but if I had stayed another night I would have switched hotels. And don't let the booking.com picks fool you it's not that nice.

We chose to stay here because we only wanted to stay on Koh Phangan for one night during the full moon party and most of the other resorts impose a minimum 3 night stay over the party. Also, we wanted to be close to Thong Sala so we could leave easily the following day.

Upon arriving, we claimed we did not have passports on us and they agreed to allow us to leave a cash deposit. I am glad we did this as another person who was staying there left the hotel without her passport as they forgot to give it back to her!

Considering the price paid, the rooms were not good. Bed sheets were stained and the bathroom was filthy - clearly had not been cleaned properly for a while. The shower was luke warm and upon returning from the full moon party, we discovered there was no water in the shower or taps in the bathroom! For some reason all the water to our room had been switched off and we had to wait until they opened for breakfast before getting it turned on again - this is not something you expect when you are paying so much for a room.

As the previous reviewer mentioned, the resort is far away from everything and you need to get a resort car to go to Thong Sala where the restaurants are which they charge 200baht per person return. It only costs 150baht per day to hire a motorbike so would definitely recommend this. Also we discovered after we arrived that Tharathip offer a complimentary transfer service from Thong Sala pier to the hotel - they never mentioned this when we booked and after checking the website again we have found it in small letters on the bottom of one of the pages - most of the people we met while we were there did not know this service existed.

They also offered transportation to and from the full moon party for 300baht per person - we were told that the transport there went at 8pm and 10pm and there would be a bus returning every hour from 2am to 6am. When purchasing the ticket, I confirmed with them that this transport service was not shared with other hotels and they insisted it was not. We decided to return at 5am - we arrived at the meeting point 15mins early to find that the bus was full as they were sharing a bus with another resort. The next bus arrived at 5.15am and they waited for more than 45mins for it to fill up with people and also offered tickets to those not staying at the hotel so the drivers could make more money! We were not impressed with the service and would recommend another service is used - there are plenty of people offering transport to and from the party for the same price and you can go without waiting around.

We never ate any meals at the restaurant but the breakfast was also covered in flies while we were there. Food seemed expensive for what they served.

As the previous reviewer said, you could do much worse if the island was full but if it is not busy I would recommend staying nearer Thong Sala or going further north of Koh Phangan as they cannot justify the high prices they charge.

Mediocre to fair mid-range resort on the west coast of Koh Phangan inconveniently (and expensively) far from other restaurants and attractions.
The hotel suspiciously insists on keeping a passport as a deposit in spite of the fact that it demands payment in advance for the entire stay. We found out later that a cash deposit can be left instead so I would suggest that you insist upon this. Your passport is an important document and not a business card that can be handed out hap-hazardously.

Wok Tum Bay has no actual beach but the resort has a decent pool and a wooden board-walk so there is no need to wade about in the broken glass off the shore.

Rooms are large and spacious with good beds and nice linen, however beware that we did not have hot water throughout our stay, and the bathroom door had no latch and thus could not be closed.

The restaurant is poor (fluorescent pink pad thai!) and expensive by Thai standards, so you will need to arrange transport to Thongsala or one of the neighboring towns to find a decent meal (factor in 200 Baht each way and the hotel insists on charging per person for taxi rides. A better option is to hire a bike from town). The included breakfast was limited in range and left exposed and covered in flies.

The hotel has ropes of LED lights wrapped around palmtrees on the ocean front which are never turned off. Be aware that the curtains are thin and beach front rooms will have blazing orange light streaming through at all hours of the evening and morning.

Tharathip has the potential to be a good resort if the staff work on their aloof attitude and put some care into their hotel's presentation. Their official website significantly misrepresents the resort. While the major hotel facilities are decent, they should take a good look at what makes a stay pleasant and memorable, and what they can do to deserve the prices they are attempting to charge.

When the island is full, you could do worse than stay at Tharathip, but there are far better options and you will find a greater selection of beaches, restaurants and bars on other beaches such as Had Mae Had or Had Salad.
