“Hill top paradise”
Reviewed February 4, 2013 for a stay in January 2013

On arriving at Jasmine Hideaway, it is easy to see the reasoning behind the consistently excellent reviews written by other guests. The property certainly has an immediate wow factor for everyone, whether it be the position of the villa itself (boasting both sea and forest views), the traditional features in which the actual house has been finished in, or the several sun terraces…and this is all before you go up the stairs! The house consists of two main living levels. The first one was mine for ten days and contains a bedroom with French doors leading out to an impressive sun terrace and to a bathroom which contains a shower, toilet and sink. There is also a utility area. The bedroom is a reasonable size and contains a very comfortable double bed, and has views on 3 sides! This is the only room in the house which does not have air conditioning, but I slept here comfortably for 10 days and I honestly did not need it. On the second level of the house is another large sun terrace with the kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a further two bathrooms. The whole house is tastefully decorated throughout and manages to act like a home from home, no matter where in the world you come from. There is a relaxing infinity pool which was perfect for cooling down whilst overlooking the beautiful forest and islands of the marine national park. The house is a 5/10 minute walk from a lovely quiet beach, and taxis on the island are plentiful and easy to pick up if you require them. The owners are an amazing and inspirational couple named Phirom and Janette, and to be honest they made our amazing stay complete. They live in the house next door and can assist with travel, or transport as mentioned by other reviewers on here. Nothing is too much trouble for them and their knowledge of the island and of Thailand in general is invaluable! Thailand is full of impressive, shiny, 5 star beach resorts, and of course Koh Phangan is no exception, however it is an island of exceptional beauty and I can honestly say that it can only be fully appreciated by embracing island life and staying somewhere like Jasmine Hideaway.

“Exactly What We needed”
Reviewed October 4, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

We honestly could not have asked for a better place to stay on the island. It really is beautiful and is such a wonderful location as nothing is too far. Phirom and Janet were really lovely hosts and they took such great care of us, bringing us drinking water and fresh linens. I highly recommend Jasmine Hideaway for anyone. We were a group of twenty-somethings, but it is equally as suitable for families or couples. It is a quick walk to a beautiful private beach but a very reasonable taxi ride (about 100 to 150 Baht) will get you to any of the more popular beaches. It is close to a number of bars but not so close that you are disturbed by the noise. We were able to go to the more avid party locations easily by taxi but it was great that Jasmine Hideway is far enough that you can avoid the tourist crowds and get peace and quiet when you want it. It is also very close to a Tesco Lotus - not walking distance but using the jeep or taking a taxi it is about a 7 minute drive. We mostly ate at the restaurant on the private beach as the food was delicious and well priced!

Thank you Phirom and Janet for such a perfect place to stay on our holiday and thank you for your wonderful hospitality. We will miss you and I'm sure we will be back soon!

Kristi :)

“Unforgettable stay in Koh Phangan”
Reviewed October 2, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

My friends and I rented the villa for a week in September. The pictures and reviews looked very promising - and the actual stay exceeded our expectations! The villa was clean and well maintained with all the basic amenities provided. The owners came to pick us up at the harbour, which was incredibly nice of them. The villa was very homely, a short distance from the town and less than 10 minutes' walk from what we agreed was the best beach in Koh Phangan! The owners are two of the nicest people I've ever met - super friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. They paid attention to detail (shared some of their drinking water, stocked up the fridge with a couple of water and soda bottles when we arrived, changed our linen and cleaned the villa halfway through our stay, lent us a mobile phone for emergencies, etc...) These simple gestures were really appreciated and made sure our stay was memorable and perfect in every way. It was really hard to leave the villa and saying goodbye to the owners was very sad but I will definitely go back one day!

“Lovely Villa, Stunning View”
Reviewed October 1, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

I stayed with a group of four friends at the Jasmine Hideaway in late September.

Phirom and Janet picked us up from the port and were kind enough to drop us off at Tesco while they brought our luggage to the villa. They were very warm and welcoming. The next day, Phirom came by and answered all our questions. He also gave us some great advice about where we should go on the island as well as tourist traps to avoid. Phirom and Janet live in the villa next door, which means they are on hand if you need anything. They also give you as much privacy as you need - even when we were playing music and singing into the early hours of the morning!

One of the best things about the villa was the fact that Phirom let us use his jeep. This gives you enormous freedom to explore the island and saves a good deal of money (taxis are in the region of 50-100 baht each if you have a group). Be warned, though, the jeep takes some getting used to and should only be driven by fairly experienced drivers (particularly since getting to the villa involves driving up a very steep hill). Luckily, Phirom took me out for a test drive on the first day and should seriously consider a part-time job as a driving instructor!

The villa itself is very clean and charming. There are two bedrooms that comfortably sleep 2 each. The kitchen is fully equipped and Janet was kind enough to leave some essential groceries in the fridge. The swimming pool/jacuzzi is nice to relax in, though we didn't use it much given how close the beach was.

The nearest beach is a mere 5 minute walk away and, after exploring almost every beach on the island, we agreed that it is the best on the island. We visited at low season, so it was practically a private beach for us.

The absolute selling point of the villa is the amazing view. The villa, as the name suggests, is hidden away on the side of a hill. This gives a terific view of the sea and a number of smaller islands. Having breakfast with such a great view as a backdrop was a definite highlight.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and were very sad to leave both the villa and Phirom and Janet. If we ever return to the island, we'll be sure to stay here.

-Ken

Hi Ken ,Thank you for taking the time to write this wonderful review .
We never heard you singing in the early hours ,if we had known we would have stayed up to listen !!.
Phirom has given some thought to your suggestion of becomeing a driving instructor but has decided he likes being a host more .
We look forward to seeing you again ,hopefully we will have a better jeep next time .
Thank you again Janette & Phirom .

“So easy to come home to!”
Reviewed July 5, 2012 for a stay in May 2012

We ended up extending our stay here as it was so easy to settle into with our children. The beds were comfortable, and the 2nd bedroom/bed more than big enough for our children to share. There was a lovely raised deck attached to the living area where we were able to sit and eat breakfast - Complete with a beautiful view of the ocean! We had a washer and dryer to use, as well as our own private jetted plunge pool. The BIGGEST bonus of all was that we had full use of Phirom's jeep, which we used to explore the island. It gave us a lot of freedom and flexibility, and was a huge deciding factor in us deciding to extend our stay. It was great to be able to leave at whim and go to different beaches/restaurants. Phirom was great and not only picked us up from the dock, but took us right to the grocery store we we could stock the fridge for breakfast. Lovely lovely hosts and place to stay.

Liked best: The view from the deck, small beach within walking distance, and the jeep!
Liked least: tip: leave the outside light on by the deck, attracts the insects, which keeps the geckos over there, as well as their chattering!

“Luxurious western style villa with stunning views and a close proximity to the beach and town.”
Reviewed May 29, 2012 for a stay in April 2012

Having been to Koh Phangan on several holidays, we knew what we were in for. What we found at Jasmine Hideaway was completely above expectation! The owner picked us up at the harbor, even though we arrived an hour later than expected. The house was clean, beautifully maintained and true to, if not better than the pictures. We stayed for 6 weeks with visitors coming and going. The owners did everything to ensure that we and our guests were comfortable. They even helped us arrange scooter hire and gave us great tips on restaurants, shops, local foods and customs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already booked for 6 weeks next year.
