Stayed for 4 nights with two friends. Rooms are basic however there are newer rooms closer to the beach that you can upgrade to for those not on a backpacker budget and they are well worth it! Excellent food and staff couldn't be more helpful, especially the barman JJ. Can't wait to come back!

We were 5 girls who spent only 2 nights in this peace of paradise. Frindly people- like a family that you want to be a part of. Nice food - thai and western, to fair prices. Awsome bar by the pool - nice prices and awsome cocktails. Awsome pool on the beach, like you see in movies with palm trees etc. The rooms are no palace, but very fine to the price - nothing to complain about. Very good internet.
The staff help with all problems, and tours that you want to book. They also booked ferry and bus in the mainland + they took us to the ferry free of charge.
These people only want you to have a great time. Check it out!

WWe enjoyed our 16 night stay at Sabaii Bay. We stayed the first night in a bungalow closest to the beach and the rest of our stay in the wooden bungalows in the middle of the complex facing the pool area. The accommodation is clean. The restaurant provides a varied menu. The wifi is strong. The pool and the surrounds are beautifully presented. It was a pleasure to stay here and we will definitely return.

Basic bungalows for the price you pay, we were in the "deluxe" bungalow, it had a nice balcony, ac and tv and thats it. For almost £30a night, thats no fridge, safe, no basic breakfast included. It was very dark and the "waterfall" shower was awful! It was a hose pipe pouring down a piece of wood! checked into first room, ants everywhere, we have travelled south east asia twice and are well aware ants are inevitable, but they were everywhere. We moved next door, though again a major ant problem in the bathroom behind the toilet, ants up the walls, in the corners of the floor, any crack in the wall there would be ants. Couldnt be bothered to move again so sorted it myself with alot of bug spray! Yes the pool is amazing and its on the beach, but the pool wasnt even clean. The receptionist was very friendly though and the food was very nice. however, on the second day the pool was closed. We went and asked if it was closed all day, to a sarcastic reply, " its closed all day theres the biggest pool there its called the ocean". Unfortunately the sea is extremely shallow in baan tai so you can't really swim in it. We weren't happy about paying so much money for such a basic room now it didnt even include the main attraction, they offered us 200b off, for us to pay for another hotels pool or for us to check out. We checked out and found a much better, value for money, cheaper resort up the beach. We were really disappointed with our stay here and had read great reviews about it previous.

I dont think I ever stayed in nicer place, our Deluxe bungallow was big with an awesome shower and hammovk outside, do not book the standard bungallow, they really suck. Guys at the reception were fantastic, pool barman Jj was a bit over it, so dont expect much conversation from him, hllol. Now to the menu, these guys tend to run out of many things on the menu, no seafood, no fish no papaya for 4 days i was trying to order it every day, but no luck, i recommend to eat outside if you are a fish lover like myself. Pool is fabulous, could be cleaner but it was the best! I will recommend it and I will be back

Writing this review is rather difficult, since there are so many facets and premises that need to be considered, and thus it is challenging to give a fair verdict. I will do my best in light of these circumstances.

1) The hotel
The hotel is a series of small huts around a central, open-air dining and reception area, and a bar/pool area, with direct access to the beach and sea. The layout is very trendy, and particularly suited to travelling backpackers and younger people.

2) The rooms/huts
These are very simply constructed, made of a stone/concrete, with no effort made to hide this. It is very, very simple and basic, so if you are on a budget and with friends, this would be the place for you. If you are used to any kind of luxury or nicety in a hotel, then it is most certainly not the place for you. The air-conditioning works intermittently, and security to your hut is guaranteed only by a padlock on the thin, sliding front door. Lighting is poor at best, and there is an extreme lack of electrical outlets. Furthermore, many of the huts suffer from poor wifi connectivity, which is however to be expected in such a spaced-out design.

The bathrooms are, to my taste, utterly disgusting and horrible, with cockroach neighbours (see pictures attached) paying friendly visits, and the shower and toilet leaving much to be desired. While basic amenities such as soap and shampoo are provided, there is no sufficient supply of toilet paper, and one is left to walk to the reception area to procure more.

2) The Food
The food here was excellent, and this is one of the reasons I cannot give it a terrible review. Anything, from Thai to Western food is available, and it is truly delicious. The only thing one could perhaps speak negatively of is the rancid booze that is used in the "buckets" in which alcoholic beverages are provided. Still, after even half of one of these buckets, you probably won't (be able to) care what's in them. Nonetheless, food was great here.

3) The Staff
This is another reason this place does not get a truly horrid rating from me. The owner, Per, and his wife, are absolutely great people, and they were so helpful and accommodating with any and all of our various requests and wishes, be this organizing travel to Koh Samui airport, or trips around the island. Their staff are also a fantastic group of people, so friendly and with great banter. Per is also an excellent DJ, and we were lucky to witness his skills one night at a warm-up party in the bar area.

On the whole, my issue with this review is that it's not really fair. If you are a 19 year-old backpacker coming through the island, it is most certainly a great place for you to stay. It is cheap, accommodating and friendly, and provides you with everything you could possibly want. The only downside is perhaps that it's quite far away, but they afford you the opportunity to rent scooters right at the reception, and provide a fairly inexpensive taxi service also.

If you're slightly older and used to different things, the sparse rooms, dirty showers, lack of security, etc., really make for a terrible experience. Unfortunately, this is why, from my perspective, I have to give it a negative review. Sorry Per!
