“Poor maintenance”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We wanted to be far from haad rin so the location was good, only 100 baht for a taxi.
The maintenance off the hotel was awful! They didn't clean the room for all.the stay period.
The pool isn't clean as well, its greasy and oily! can be very dangerous.
The staff is bocce but gives you the felony they don't care from u our your experience in their hotel.
The prices were really high! we payed 2500 baht a room. no value for money, not recommended!

We were in Bankai Orchid in Koh Phangan for 3 nights and I felt they were the longest three nights of our whole trip. We were the only people in the resort and as such I felt that we were being watched. If we were in the pool or lying on the sunloungers the female owner (it's a family run set of villas which we were not aware of prior to arrical) looked down on us from their house. I felt quite awkward asking for lunch or a drink etc as it seemed to put them to a lot of effort. There is no safe in the room only at reception and after 8pm reception closes and there is then no form of security at the resort.
The family were not unkind or in any way rude, however, i would recommend staying somewhere that is slightly busier and closer to the town as we were a 15 minute taxi ride away from civilsation.

Looks are fleeting. This hotel looks lovely on the website but when we arrived we were dissapointed.

Booked months and months ahead only to find we had been given the worst room in the worst spot. I loved hearing all the bikes and trucks flying past my bedroom at all hours of the day and night. We had the room right on the front of the property..right on the road.
The hotel is on the road into Haad Rin so it was busy.
Has massive potential to be a gorgeous hotel but the gardens were dying and overgrown and everything on the website is not as pretty in reality. The place was not being maintained.
Pool was oily and dirty. I came out of the pool with black grease on my skin from the side of the pool.
Our bathroom was mouldy and the curtain (which gives you a view straight into the shower recess from the road) was coming of its velcro and one day I gave a guy on a motorbike a decent accidental view if you get my drift.

When we asked to be moved into another room the lady told us none were available & there was no refund. So we were stuck there. Also became very annoyed when a new room became available in a better position and they gave it away to people who hadn't even booked a room and had just turned up!

On a more positive note however, the family who run it were very very nice.
The food is good and home made. Great for lunch or dinner if you cant be bothered going into Haad Rin which is a ten minute drive.

Being just out of town was so great. Haad Rin was pumping (it was full moon week) and it was good to come home to dead quiet just out of town.

I'd say if you were to book here do not book a standard room and spend more money on the better rooms which are further towards the beach, and had nicer views. I wish we had known!

This resort is run by a sweet Thai family. It’s set right on a pretty beach 5 minutes from the Haad rin madness.
Some days we had great food at the resort and other day it wasn’t so nice. I would recommend you eat out as there are great restaurants close by.
I found the location of this resort to be perfect for us as it’s a very peaceful. It was so lovely to swim in the resorts clean pool after a long hot day.
The down side to the resort is the rooms are very basic, even the more expensive rooms. I do think that the bathrooms could do with modernising.
It’s a shame as the view from the sea view rooms are stunning. You have to ask for you rooms to be cleaned which we didn’t mind too much.
On the whole you got what you paid for. We loved the location and enjoyed having drinks on our private balcony which comes with every room.
