Five star room for four star price! We were thrilled with our room which had a pool, loungers and a swing and we spent all day within our room compound – there was no reason to leave. The swimming pool was clean, great temperature and great view of the beach which sat at low tide all day. The room was very large and lots of comfortable places to relax. Loved getting back from breakfast and the room had been serviced, nice touch. Breakfast was average with some strange hot dishes, but loved their freshly made pancakes. Enjoyed great hot food from room service at lunch time, did not eat dinner there as had been to Salad Hut before and loved their food so ate there every night. Had a great oil massage on my room lounger for same price as on the beach. Did not have an issue with walking up the stairs, found the quickest way on day 2. We had a fantastic stay here and will definitely be back.
The only negative was the flies at breakfast, surely they can do more than just one fan on a stand to keep the flies away.

We stayed here to have a special night, in our own room with our own pool. The setting is spectacular and you have a full view over the bay from your room and from your own horizon view pool. The room was really nice and it felt luxurious, even if the television only could receive 3 different channels in very poor picture, and there was a slight smell of fungus in the room. I personally think that if you're going to have a hotel information ledger in the room, it should be in proper english, as well as informative about the region with activities, nightlife, services and so on.
The staff was very helpful on the other hand, and they came forth with all of our requests. I surely would recommend this resort for a night or two if you want to be alone with the one you love. They even have big family bungalows with private pool for those with kids.

We chose the Salad Buri resort this year after staying at its sister resort Salad Beach Resort last year, and this place is much better.

The rooms were really pleasant with great comfy beds, nice wet rooms and as each hut is mounted against the hillside if you stay near the top like we did, you have great views out across the bay of Haad Salad.

It also has a great pool that you can actually swim laps in.

The service was largely very friendly; some of the Burmese pool tenders are a little overbearing but they were doing a good job of pushing frozen Margaritas and everyone was smiling and friendly despite obviously doing very long breakfast to close shifts.

I can't comment on the food as we never ate here, although I agree with previous comments that the breakfast needs a little work as it wasn't very inspiring.

Housekeeping could pay a little more attention to dust, but otherwise no problems and overall it's very clean.

One thing that can't be helped is that it's at the wrong end of the bay for sunsets and so it loses the sun before most of the rest of the bay and the sunset is hidden by the headland that it is built into, so head down to the other end of the beach to get the best sunsets.

*** WARNING ABOUT HAAD SALAD TRAVEL ***

If you want to hire a motorcycle or scooter in Haad Salad, there are plenty of places to do so however I would advise against Salad Travel beside Salad Beach Resort. I returned a scooter with a couple of very minor scratches that could have easily been repaired and the manager landed me with a bill of 16,000 Baht (approx £450). The bike brand new cost 45,000 Baht. The same day, he charged a German guy 8,900 Baht, also for the tiniest of scratch and even more incredibly, he charged an Italian couple 800 Baht for a new tyre when they returned with a flat tyre just 2 hours into a 24 hour rental.

I have found similar reviews about this unscrupulous place here on Tripadvisor, and when we reported this to the police in Koh Phagnan the desk sergeant explained that they had frequent complaints from tourists about this particular shop.

If something similar happens to you, I suggest you go to the police station in Thong Sala as they are extremely friendly and will help you to negotiate a fair price with the shop.

If you do wish to hire, I would strongly recommend My Way Bungalows also in Haad Salad - extremely friendly and I only wish we had hired our first bike from there.

Room Tip: If you go in the low season, you can negotiate a really good deal if you turn up with no reservation...

We arrived at Salad Buri resort after having stayed at the most amazing hotel On koh Samui. We had paid the flat rate fee of 600baht for a taxi from the pier and realised that moving around the island would be tough as the hotel is at the foot of a very very steep road...so steep we decided against hiring a motorbike for fear of not being able to get down or up it.

The staff on reception were not the most smiley... But very efficient.... such a shame they were not a little happier, as they had actually upgraded us for free, from a superior room to a pool villa. The pool villa was well located at the foot of the steep hill, which we were grateful for as many of the villas were located high up on the steep hill. As it was our room was 2 mins stroll from the resort and beach.

The room itself was clean and spacious...a little musty on arrival, but this smell faded quickly. I don't think it had been in use for a while. Housekeeping did an excellent job each day and were actually the most friendly of all the staff. Smiling, waving and saying 'hello' at every opportunity.

The beach is pleasant although it is a little shallow for swimming and you can only really enter the sea at the the end of the beach where there is a sandy stretch out into the bay.

Our one criticism would be the food at the hotel. Breakfast is a buffet affair, which is fine...many hotels in Thailand choose to offer this option. However, food is either uncovered or covered with cling film...which really is not hygienic. I notice that I am not the first person to make this observation and would strongly urge the management (who may or may not understand this review, as most staff had limited English) to look at improving the way in which breakfast is presented. They also were adamant about handing in your breakfast coupon... Which we found a little extreme as they bombard you for it as soon as you arrive. Could you not just provide your room number?

On our first evening we thought that we would try the barbecue, as it had been given some good reviews. We could not have been more disappointed... We picked a mixed meat platter for a pricey 300 baht each. However, we were presented with the most inedible beef... It was so tough you could not cut it with a knife. We eventually handed to meat to one of the beach cats... And the cat could not even eat it!!!

On our second and third night we ate at salad hut... This was a lovely restaurant with excellent service and fantastic food at much more reasonable prices than the hotel. Please ensure you pay them a visit.

To conclude...stay at the hotel...but eat elsewhere... This would make for a very pleasant stay on koh phangan.

On arrival at this hotel,we were very surprised to see that much of the accomodation is located on the side of a steep cliff, reachable by steep and treacherous steps with no handrail,or else by calling for a courtesy cart whenever you wanted to leave or return to your room.
Two rooms had been reserved for our family of four adults and two children. The lagoon view villa was as described on the website, and quite satisfactory,in spite of the spa bath not working for the entire time we were there. The other room, supposed to be in the "lowline main building" was in fact high up on the cliff, and completely unsuitable for two people in their 60s. The hotel staff flatly refused to discuss the fact that this was the wrong room, and had the cheek to claim that we had not given them the paperwork that they were handed on arrival, which would have showed exactly what had been booked and paid for.We were forced to share the pool villa, taking the second bedroom. We were unable to get any compensation for the unused room on the cliff. They tried to charge a child supplement again, despite it having been paid for on booking. The "child bed" supplied was a thin vinyl poollounge cover smelling strongly of mould, which was put directly onto the floor.
Breakfast in the outdoor restaurant area was adaquate, though hardly of the standard expected in a four star hotel. Every plate seemed to have cracks and chips.
Everything booked to the room had to be paid for every day instead of the usual practice of paying for all extra charges on leaving.
The location of this hotel,on a lovely beach, and with nice pool areas was fine. There are some good restaurants dotted up the beach short walk away.
We could not recommend that anyone stay at this hotel, unless you are a mountain climber, and don't mind being ripped off.

Room Tip: Make sure you are not in one of the cliff rooms! A room in the main building would be ok.

This is our second time to the Resort. Eighteen months ago we Booked for two nights and stayed a week. It was great. The staff was amazing. We dreamed getting back to visit again. This time - we celebrated our honeymoon.
We booked the last four nights of our honeymoon. We thought it would be cherry on the cake.
No cherry and no cake... Light years away it.

The place was so bad that we had to check out after 2 nights. We preferred to pay double and just leave.

Sub-standard place, shocking beach, terrible staff and bad service.
Really bad service.
The service is really, really bad.

Check in - We were met by two receptionists with a sour face. They couldn’t choose less services people from these two. No smile, not a pleasant welcome, no welcome back or maybe Congratulations the honeymoon.... Sour face.
The only things that interested him - first of all to pay the taxi that brought us to a place - immediately and in cash (because it is not possible to charge the room account and pay at the end), and talk about our check out - coordinate the ferry (although we have 4 more days…)
At this point we were still optimistic and thought it was just us and all we wanted to get into the room.
The Room (Premier Room) is in a very low maintenance. There is a mold stains in the shower, mold stains at the balcony, burned lamp...
At this point we still thought it would be OK and we thought about maybe upgrading the room for extra charge. The receptionist was said he would check and let us know. Of course we have not heard more about it....
At the same time we wanted to book a private tour - a tour of beaches with taxi Boat, and he said that the price from 4000 to 5000 baht. We tried to understand what it includes and what price - 4000 or 5000 baht. At the end he decided that the price is 3,500 baht for five-hour tour. Because it seemed expensive, we went close to the beach where they offered us the same thing in 2000 baht.
All kind of things are very expensive throw the resort - beware....
Restaurant – At Lunch of two chicken burger I had to get up 4 times - the first time to ask for a menu, a second to request order the food, a third time to ask for ketchup and a fourth time to ask for the bill. Every time the waiter returned to sit inside and just did not care that we were sitting there. From that moment until we left, we preferred to eat at a restaurant with wonderful staff elsewhere on the island...
Payment - Hotel staff seemed confident that at any moment his guests are Running away without paying. The hotel does not allow to Charge the room for anything so we had to pay in cash all the time. drinks at the pool, restaurant, taxi - Pay when booking ...

Towels - there are No towels at the pool. Towels are in the room and you have to take them with you. The first day we forgot the towels in the room (and since the way the room has about 100 steps on the mountain) so we asked for extra towels at the reception. The receptionist with the sour face agreed to give us towels - of course not before he took the trouble to explain to me that it's completely wrong and he does not have to give me towels...

Beach – the beach in front of the resort had a Reef that is blocking the water and creates a situation that the water in front of Resort is gray and dirty. To enter the water you have to to go down the beach to another.

And all sorts of little things - if you want to wash you sent you to take her admission that must pay at the moment so can not send her into ... At no saccharin, smell shocking admission, some of the beds in the pool are broken ...
Shocking place.
Defiantly not a resort.
If you are wondering - obviously we have not received a refund for the 2 nights that we checked out.
More than that - they did not even bother to ask why we're leaving ...i guess It does not seem strange to them that we really do not like the place...
Apparently they're used to it...
Among the worst service experience I had in Thailand ... Beware ...

As a group of 3 couples, we stayed two nights in one of the grand deluxe rooms. The other couples stayed in a standard and the pool villa. Our room was located in the main rise building and it was very spacious! Though our room was in need of a bit of renovation it didnt hamper our experience one bit.

The hotel itself is located right on the Salad beach, which is a beautiful beach, though a bit quiet compared to Chaweng beach at Koh Samui this is the perfect way to spend a couple of days just taking it easy.

The staff is extremely serviceminded, at times it almost seemed we had our own employee catering our needs at all times. After speaking to a young lady working as a waitress there she explained that she hoped to one day to get at job on one of the hotels at Koh Samui and from there gain enough experience to one day work at a high-end hotel in Bangkok.

Reccomended!
