Thank god for Trip Advisor. When my boyfriend and I arrived in Koh Phangan from the ferry we had a hotel room already booked for us by an agent in Bangkok. Once we arrived we immediately knew we couldn't stay so we used the lobby's internet and searched Trip Advisor for hotel reviews in the area. There was one that stuck out- it was promised to be a hidden gem of a hotel sitting on a gorgeous strip of secluded beachfront.

At that point we were ready to try anything but it was well worth the gamble. Upon our arrival we were shown a beautiful spacious room on the 2nd floor. Every room has a balcony over the sparkling pool that runs the length of the hotel and if you request a room on the 1st floor your private patio has access to the pool. I was elated to find that the rooms had air conditioning, hot water, a large comfy bed and a flat screen TV. I was told the hotel was built in January of '09 so everything is very contemporary. All this for only $12USD/night. And it gets better...

One of the best parts of this hotel was the beachside restaurant and bar. You can enjoy your meal, beverage or book tableside, in a hammock, or on a mat overlooking the pristine beaches and breathtaking sunsets. The drinks were strong and the food was a wonderful variety of Thai and American cuisine. A local fisherman brings in the fresh catch of the day for their deliciously prepared seafood dishes. We found ourselves spending a majority of our time down there as the food was cheap and we could entertain ourselves with a game of pool, watch a movie or play some gin rummy.

Next door you can rent a motorbike for 24 hours for only $6 USD. Its a great way to explore the island but make sure to wear a helmet as the roads can be close to nonexistent in some areas. There's also a convenient store across the street as well as in the surrounding hotels. If you stroll the beach you'll find you can indulge in a traditional Thai massage for only $6 USD an hour. If you plan on attending the Black or Full Moon Festivals its about a 25 minute drive. We hitched a ride to the party for around 100 baht per person.

All in all The See Through Resort was a major highlight in our trip and we've recommended it to all who are thinking of traveling to the island.

We decided that out of all 7 seven hotels we stayed at in Thailand ranging from 4-5 star this was our favourite. We based this on the fact that the staff are the most friendliest and helpful, everybody is naturally your friend here and from the bar/ restaurant to reception they make you feel very welcomed and eager to help you get the most out of your stay. The hotel is brand new and located in Haad Yao, (about 40 minute drive from Hat Rin ) a small little village more nicer and relaxed than the chaos at Hat Rin with a couple of shops and a beach full of about 6 or 7 bars joined to other hotels. The beach itself is one of the nicer ones in Koh Phanghan and good for snorkelling although be careful of the coral. The pool at the hotel is a bit odd, its the length of the hotel with deep bits and shallow bits along the way. The sea is like 5 metres from the end of the bar but its raised so safe if the tide comes in. The bar is very nice and relaxed and also serves as the restaurant, the bar tenders do blast the music but are eager to listen to tourist music and will put it on. The food here was very nice and clean as the kitchen is open. We had a upstairs room with a balcony with twin beds. It had a nice TV, warm shower and a safe. Very spacious and clean, if you want your room cleaned everyday you have to leave your key at reception. You can get internet/WIFI free but only at reception. The reception staff were very helpful with what to do. We rented mopeds from here for only 200 bht for 24 hours. All in all we really were sad to leave this hotel and Haad Yao as we had made a lot of local friends.

Stayed for 3 nights in a poolside room and thoroughly enjoyed it. Poolside room had direct access to the pool which was clean and very refreshing. Only downside was there was no ladder to get back out of the pool and into your room. The beach here at Haad Yao was certainly one of the better bigger beaches on the Island with fantastic sunsets. The room was clean and spacious but the best thing about this place are the staff especially in the restaurant and bar. They are great fun and very friendly which adds to the experience of what was a very good restaurant certainly the best we come accross ont his beach. Overall good value for money resort.

They say Haad Yao is the best beach on the island, and this hotel is pretty much in the middle of it. You literally walk from the bar/restaurant area onto the beach in seconds, so it's almost as close to paradise as any of the bungalows. We stayed here for 9 days, but were only supposed to stay for three. We stayed in the 'penthouse' room first, which had a baclony over the bar with a hammock. Bit noisy at night, but an awesome room nonetheless. Spent one evening reading a book in the hammock listening to some chill out tunes from the bar! We decided to stay for longer because we liked it so much, and the staff were all very friendly. Our last six days saw us move to a 'smaller' room, but in those you walk out of your door and into the pool - literally. Really cool.
Very helpful staff, too. All speak english, good english, and while the menu is a bit limited, the food is very, very good. We didn;t taste better along that beach. Oh, and they have hammocks in the bar, pretty cool. Thoroughly recommend... just be sure to haggle on the price!

The See Through Hotel is a great place to relax in Ko Phangan. Haad Yao is a great beach and is very peaceful. The staff of the hotel is terrific, the food is great and the people are wonderful.

Yes, they only clean the hotel room every other day, but they will clean it every day if you ask. I stayed in a pool view room and it was fantastic. I stayed during the Full Moon Party and the hotel arranged for transportation to Haad Rin (about 40 minutes away).

Stayed for 4 days in August.Pool room ok, nice to be able to step into pool.Bar & restaurant staff friendly and helpful, reception staff so-so. Had to ask to have room cleaned every second day and when rooms had been cleaned rubbish bags sat around all day. Most of cleaners/housekeeping staff completely ignored guests and never smiled. Food was good, location excellent, resort quiet, sea very shallow in August apparently much better later in year. internet connections never seemed to work. Generally an ok hotel that with a bit more effort in some areas could be very good indeed. Used Haad Yao resort office next door to organise trips and taxis and for internet access. Their staff very nice and very helpful
