Stayed at Awe for four weeks and enjoyed everything: aesthetics of the villas, pool, location, service... Big hug to housekeeper Wan who was nice and helpful like the mother! I navigated all across the island on motorbike and I am convinced Awe are the best villas with the best price on Phangan. There are only two things you need to adopt to: very stiff beds and great looking but not practical outside stairs leading to the second floor. We were at Awe with <2 years baby, so naturally there was a danger of falling from the stairs... Btw, housekeeper Wan recommended to eat at Su's Restaurant (Su is Wan's friend) - cheap and really good Thai food. We were also given Thai cooking lessons by Su and it was a fantastic experience!

Room Tip: Villa #1 is the 1st from the beach, but all 4 villas are literally on the beach. Each villa has one loft type bedroom with two double beds on the second floor.

Regarding the comment on stiff beds, please note that we have since fixed the problem! After this review, we installed eco-friendly, 100% natural latex mattress toppers on our beds. Each mattress topper does not contain synthetic, petroleum-based toxins and is designed to conform to the body. The original beds that we have before the installation of the mattress toppers were hand-made locally using organic cotton. While we strive to make green choices whenever possible, we realize that there is sometimes no substitution for comfort!

We stayed at Awe Resort for almost 2 weeks in over the new year period. The villas are really well cared for and located on a nice private beach. It's about a 5min taxi ride to Tong Salaa and 15min to Haad Rin so is pretty conveniently located.

Peter, the owner was really friendly and helpful, always replying to our questions quickly.

The staff at the resort Won and Penn were just great. Won especially, always made us feel welcome and gave us heaps of tips and advice about where to go on Koh Phangan. The highlight of our stay was when Won and her kids came over and cooked a BBQ with us (to date, the best food we've had in Thailand)

The only caveat about Awe (not a negative, just something to be aware of) is that even though there are 2 beds the villa is actually 1 room. So both beds are in the same room. Not a big deal really but if you are expecting 2 rooms you might be surprised.

Thank you Peter, Won and Penn for making our stay on Koh Phangan so easy!

We stayed in Awe for nearly a month with our 3 young kids in July 11.Peter the owner was hugely accommodating with all our date changes etc . The resort was everything and more that we could hope for. The beach front location is perfect. although not one of the nicest beach on the island , it's still a beautiful Thai beach. you can easily rent a bike or get on the back of a truck for a quick trip up to the other beaches. The main town is close by to stock up on supplies, and the resort next door is perfect for sunset beers at the bar ( Andy and Dushak amazing hosts!) . Will definitely come back to this place and would recommend highly to friends and family. Thanks Peter , it was the perfect stay !

Peter, the owner, was a breeze to work with when booking one of the villas via email. Pen, the caretaker, and Wan, the housekeeper, are both very nice and can help you if you need info or arrangements for anything on the island.

We were extremely happy with our stay at AWE. So much so that we extended our stay an extra week. Our villa was nice, the kitchen capable, the bathroom clean, and the location is pretty nice if you'd like to be away from the hustle of Thong Sala.

However, even though AWE's grounds are calm and relaxing, there're bars on both sides of the property, so it's not uncommon to hear loud-ish music into the night. This wasn't a big deal, and getting to sleep wasn't a problem, but the loud music was unexpected only because I didn't expect bars on both sides of the property. The only other surprising thing, to me, was that there was only one bedroom. For whatever reason, when we saw the villa pictures on their website, we all assumed there were two bedrooms in the villa. Actually, it's just one room (the upstairs room) with two beds in it. Again, this isn't a problem at all. It just surprised us, probably because the website shows photos showing 'the queen bed' and 'the king bed', which we assumed meant 'bedroom(s)', not 'bed'. That's all.

Also, Wan, the aforementioned super friendly and chatty housekeeper, put together a Thai BBQ for us (there were four of us staying in the villa), and the food was plentiful and it was one of the tastiest dinners we've had in Thailand.

Overall, if you're looking for villas on Koh Phangan, stop looking because you've found the place to stay. I miss AWE already.

On holidays from Canada, we booked a villa at Awe Resort at the beginning of November 2011 for five weeks and stayed for six weeks because we so enjoyed our stay.
Awe Resort is located directly on the longest stretch of beach on the south coast of Koh Phangan. The villa has a well equipped modern kitchen with sliding glass doors and a lovely covered dining area adjacent to it. The bedroom is clean spacious with a comfortable king size bed and a separate queen size bed for lounging. The room has high ceilings with air conditioning, two ceilings fans, cable TV, a wall safe and a window sitting area. The bathroom is clean and upscale with hot and cold running water in the shower. An upper balcony has a table and two chairs with magnificent ocean and sunset views. There is free WiFi throughout the entire resort. The infinity saltwater pool, wall waterfall and gardens are spectacular. The beach is raked daily and the gardens and pool serviced during the week. The property and location are top notch. Peter, the owner, offered us first class hospitality at his comfortable and charming resort. The staff Wan and Pen are friendly and helpful and do everything to make your stay comfortable. My wife and I will definitely stay here again and we highly recommend Awe Resort. John and Suzanne (Ontario, Canada)

Room Tip: All the rooms have great ocean views with their own unique character.
