Libong Sunset Resort
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Hello.I stayed 3 nights in this resort in the first week of april...I pretty much based my choice to stay here on other peoples reviews about the place...,and I think it was a good choice ..

First of all the staff are friendly and do what the can to help you,,book tours calling taxi etc...The lady in the reception told me that the owner had left in order to get cancer-treatment ,I was the only guest so we did discuss quite a lot...
She told me that the owner also like all kind of animals so there are 3-4 cats 4-5 dogs etc its both their own and some that has arrived there and stayed..They had two funny dog puppies, dogs does not have the best eyes so when it got dark they don´t nessesarily recognize you so it may get noisy the small start and the other will fall in...

If you want to eat somewhere else a small village is nearby..5 minutes walk or so..
The beach itself is so and so,the sand is not that fine but you can swim if you wear sandals or are careful when you walk...

The resort is quite new so its in good shape. The rates for the bungalows are fair I paid 700 bath for mine and here I belive the beach-view makes it slightly more expensive....

If i go back to ko libong this resort is certainly an alternative ,,
Can I recommend it,.,yes..
Take a few books with you its not much to do after dark...

At the Southwest of Libong Island so it is a great quiet place to spot sunset. But rocky & not-so clean (trash comes with tides) make it not truly pleasant to swim or walk along the beach.

Resort is clean and comfort with decent amenities e.g. cloth rack, shampoo & soap, water heater, nice bed & pillows.

Owner & staff are friendly & helpful. They treats guests like family members.

Food is so-so. A local food store nearby offers better authentic Thai food at a cheaper price.

P.S. bring strong mosquito repellent & sun block. Also spare time to visit nearby island for beautiful coral snorkeling & Payoon watching.

In conclusion, worth the money, the commute & the time. Highly recommend :)

Room Tip: Room with local road behind is noisy with motorbike sounds

Libong Sunset is truly a wonderful place to stay. The owner Tookie is friendly, funny and very helpful. Faruk was the young man working while she went to the mainland and he too was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean, cute and well equipped. The food is delicious and there are lots of places on the big deck to sit and read while you drink a cold beer. There is an adorable puppy and a few cute cats running around that will let you cuddle them. We felt so welcomed and at home here. Tookie even went as far as to exchange money for us when she made a supply run to the mainland. She heard us talking about how we had $200 USD stolen out of our room by the staff at Le Dugong down the beach and felt bad for us. (Read my review of Le Dugong for more info about that debacle.)
Bottom line is, Libong Sunset is the best place to stay on Koh Libong and a great value for the money. We will never forget their hospitality and kindness. Thanks for everything!

What a wonderful place this is. The whole island is a paradise amongst overcrowded beaches of Thailand. Very few tourists - hardly any restaurants, shops or bars on the island. Sunset resort has a own beach where you can relax and enjoy the magnificent view (and of course the sunsets). Beach is not really suited for swimming but for relaxing and reading it is perfect. Bungalows are very nice and clean. Staff is exceptionally nice and they serve good basic thai food in their restaurant. Value for money is very good. Highly recommended.

We spent 3 lovely days here after travelling round Thailand for 6 weeks and this was one of the most relaxing and welcoming place so far. The owner and staff were faultless and really thoughtful. The accomodation was very clean with small touches we haven't seen in Thailand. It is still a quiet and unspoilt island which is very difficult to find. Not lots to do but have seen 3 foot lizards off the beach, monkeys, eagles and kingfishers and someone else saw dolphins. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

We stayed on Koh Libong after we visited Koh Lipe and Koh Bilon and had a very good time in Sunset Resort. We got our bungalow for a good price, 700 THB, Sea view, clean garden and friendly staff. Even when we rent a boat with them to see the dugongs, sea cows, we have been lucky and spent a great half day on the sea. The bungalows are basic but comfortable with shelfes and a bathroom with cold shower. The restaurant offers yummy meals and the owner will be always there for you with helpful tips or just for an interesting conversation. Loved it here! Thank you again and chock dee khrap :-)

We chose to go to Koh Libong as we were looking for somewhere peaceful to relax and get some sun at the start of our trip and after a long british winter - and we couldn't have found a more perfect place. I had emailed Tookie, the friendly and welcoming owner, in advance asking for a quiet room and she recommended one of their family bungalows. It was spacious and well equipped with a big verandah which opened out directly onto the (usually deserted) beach and offered fantastic sunset views every evening, There was hot water and fans but no air-con, although it really wasn't needed as even though it was the hot season there was cool sea breeze in the bungalow and in the well designed restaurant.

We were there at the end of the season so there were only a few other guests, but even at the busiest time there must be plenty of space for everyone on the beach. We spent our days reading, swimming in the clear waters, eating, watching the local fishermen bringing their catches onto the beach, or taking walks along the coast through the rubber plantations. After dinner every night we sat out there watching the stars and the fireflies and enjoying the away from it all feel.

Koh Libong is an island which feels like a living place rather than just a tourist trap: it is not picture postcard beautiful like some of the neighbouring islands, but is still lovely and the people are friendly and welcoming. It is also suprisingly easy to get to: we took a mini van from Trang airport to Had Yao and then got straight on a longtail ferry which only took 20 minutes to reach the island. The resort then provided a free transfer for us across the island which takes another 20 minutes: we took the early flight from Bangkok to Trang and were there in plenty of time for lunch.

Libong Sunset Resort is only in its second season, but deserves to become a great success. The restaurant serves delicious, reasonably priced food (don't leave without trying the Penang curry!) including lots of locally caught fish and seafood and some of the best shakes I have ever had.The staff are welcoming, helpful, speak good English and nothing was too much trouble (thanks, Noi). There are lots of hammocks and deck chairs to lounge in. Oh, and the beer was cold too! If you are looking for five star luxury with wild nightlife then Sunset Resort, and indeed Koh Libong, is probably not for you; but if you want to escape the crowds and spend time in a truly relaxing and authentic environment I can't think of a better place.

Room Tip: We chose a family room which was right on the beach with amazing views and furthest away from the re...
