A visit to Koh Lanta should include a visit to Mango.

Great bunch of people, both staff and customers made for a great evening. A longing for western food was sorted with a chicken burger and pizza.

I love Thai food but sometimes you need a change and this is the place to come

Wow! I've chosen Mangohouse as my first review on TripAdvisor and I cannot say enough good things about this place...

The Rooms: I've stayed in three of them over two trips to Koh Lanta. All were spotless and well-ventilated. The windows open right up and the ocean breeze circulates perfectly. Being partly on stilts and over the ocean, the tide can come up high at times and the water is right under your feet, terrific! The hammocks on the deck, which is almost a dock, are one of the most tranquil places I've been to in my life.

The Management: Duane (Canadian) and Tan (Thai) are lovely people. They were very attentive, always smiling, and made us feel right at home.

The Restaurant: Amazing food and drink!! Some of the best western style food I've ever had in my many months in Southeast Asia. Especially the burgers! Fresh local fare as well. And of course, perfect mango smoothies. The atmosphere is spot on with ambient lighting and chill music.

Love the location. Being in Lanta Old town is the perfect distance to be able to access the hustle and bustle of the west side of the island, and then have a place to retreat to and recharge. Next year I'll try to be there in March for the Mango House Party!

This little hotel is a rare find.. authentic, gorgeous, peaceful, with some of the best views on Lanta out our back porch. But the walls are paper thin, so it's not pleasant if you have noisy neighbors. (..Part of staying in authentic old Thai houses!). Mango house restaurant, detached from the villas on the roadside, has great western food.. they even offer room service if you want it!
I would stay here again, but I might come in low season to avoid having neighbors;)

Room Tip: The beds in the Banana Villa were pretty uncomfortable, but Suite #2's bed was great.

i have eaten at Mango House many times, and many of my friends have stayed there, and i have visited them in their rooms
(i will stay there this March during our famous Lanta Laanta Festival);
the place is built over the water. -rustic villas w/large rooms & big decks over the water;
east facing to watch the magnificent sunrises (the west side of the island is renowned for spectacular sunsets, the east side has amazing sunrises!!!
very good food, w/huge juicy burgers and much more, great atmosphere,
fun, welcoming vibe- ***but check your 'tude at the door- you're on vacation in Koh Lanta-
chill, dude!!! ***(written in response to the heel below who gave this place its only terrible rating; quite undeserved- this place is GREAT!!!) -and i am a Lanta local, i should know!!!

Room Tip: there ARE no bad rooms here... spectacular location!!!

We were 2 couples and rented Mango House (on stilts & over the water) 2 bedroom villa for 1 week in February. This meant living in a 2 bedroom, 3 bathroom, private kitchen, large living & dining room and above all - an east facing (sunrise) large terrace with cushions & hammocks for major chill time. As the tide comes in the sea flows right underneath the terrace and the house enhancing your 'living-on-the-water' experience. As you can imagine it was tempting to stay there all day. Being located in Lanta Old Town suited us as it was quiet and only a short walking distance (10 minutes) from the pier where you could negotiate the price with a longtail driver for day trips to islands & beaches close by. It was fun to rent scooters from clever Loy next door when we wanted to explore the rest of the island. At the Mango bar both Duane and Tan were super friendly and helpful. Coming out of Mango turn right and approx 50m down there's 'Sri' (we think it was called) 'restaurant' (ask Tan - she guided us to her). OMG can this lady cook! We ordered food there every night and enjoyed it on our terrace on the water.

I stayed here with my partner for 2 weeks in June 2012 ans absolutely loved the place! The location is in the Old Town on Koh Lanta which is quiet and a perfect getaway town, The bedroom at Mango House was huge and had 3 beds in it, we had a bathroom , a kitchenette area and a large back deck directly over the sea with stunning views all day long, it was hard to drag ourselves away from the views long enough to discover the rest of the island. Duane the owner welcomed us from the moment we got there and was a great host the whole time we stayed.
Really amazing place to stay if beautiful views, relaxing places and a slow pace of life are your cup of tea :) Would love to return oneday!

We stayed for 5 nights in December 2011 and had the most amazing stay in Seafront Suite One.

The suite was spacious, scrupulously clean and had the most amazing views from the veranda. The bed was comfortable and my partner and I loved lazing about on the hammocks, listening to the waves. This was heaven.

Though no a/c, the fans were more than adequate and due to the location, sleeping with the windows and doors open was not an issue and a mozzie net was provided.

Old Town has a different feel to the west side of the island and it was great to escape to peace and quiet; don't come here if you are expecting a party town! Restaurants and the only bar were done and dusted by 8 - 9pm. The downside was that tuk tuks were hard to come by and very expensive for getting around the island.

We asked if they could recommend a local cookery class and they organized one for us in one of the local restaurants; it was fantastic - just me and my boyfriend learning to cook meals that we had chosen, Fabulous!

My only criticism is the rooms were quite dark; this is partly due to the type of wood used in building the property but it did feel very dark and the lighting could have been better.
