Baan Laanta Resort & Spa
Ranked #46 of 85 Hotels in Ko Lanta
Reviewed September 11, 2013

Stayed three nights for a relaxing getaway in August 2013.

Location; in the calm and quiet area of koh lanta in kantiang bay, on a hill, beachfront with stunning views and with only a few steps to the beach. Next door to other restaurants, a few bars, spa, pharmacy and a 7 eleven next door. In one word; fantastic location.

Pick up service from ferry point very good service and convenient.

Facilities;
Great pool with sun beds,stunning views and lush garden. Transportation and excursions can be booked easily by the agency at the resort.

Rooms; stayed in one of the not beach front Bungalows. Beautiful spacious rooms with large comfy bed, mosquito net, tv, air condition and large bathroom. Impeccably clean and well maintained. Nice porch with chairs to every bungalow overlooking the pool area. Huge plus for providing beach pool and normal towels. The bungalow is one of the best I've ever stayed in.

Service; staff at restaurant are rude, service is very slow even with two occupied tables in the whole restaurant. Reception staff are rude aswell and with very limited English. Bar and restaurant are separated as the island is Muslim, we were ushered out of the restaurant one night at 9pm just after ordering a watermelon fruit shake, they closed at 9.30pm.

Restaurant: food is delicious and fairly priced, nice restaurant setting. Breakfast included in stay but we had to negotiate to get our fruit plates, waiting over 20 min, and staff were rude, again Such a shame service is so poor.

Value for money;
Got a great last minute deal in low season and the bungalows are amazing so I'd say yes good value for money.for the original 5000baht a night price, if you don't mind the awful service

Room Tip: Book tip or negotiate to get the a bungalow with a sea view, it is definitely worth it. Steep stai...

We stayed in low season and paid £27 for a beautiful, poolside room full of character-including breakfast. It's not a 5 star resort so don't expect perfect fixtures and fittings but the overall atmosphere is tranquil and unique. The sea view rooms are worth splashing out on if you want the most amazing view -stilted and perched on a cliff-side, overlooking Kantiang Bay. Kantiang Bay itself is not post-card beautiful but is rugged and rustic. The food in the restaurant is absolutely delicious and good value- they do an amazing sea-food BBQ.

Kantiang beach is nice and quiet, the only negative is that you don't have much choices of places to eat and the price is much higher than other beaches. You'd better to rent a motorbike from saladan which only costs 150b-200b a day while you need to pay for 300b a day in Kantiang. We pay 1200b a day for the room.

Room Tip: seems only one bay view room

Honestly so conflicted about writing this review. The staff here were awful; unfriendly, unhelpful etc. The rooms were actually nice, the beach is beautiful but I would highly recommend checking out the many other hotels located on this beach. Also booked one night through agoda- When checking out they pretended they never received the booking and we had to pay cash as we didn't have access to our online booking at the time. As soon as we got Internet access we checked our email and no surprise- we had been double charged... So disappointing that they were so dishonest. Steer clear of this hotel but make sure you see this beach!!!!

This was our favourite resort we stayed in in Thailand (out of 6!) and I would definitely recommend it. We were previously staying somewhere else on the island, and met a friend of the owner on the ferry over, who offered to pick us up from our hotel and take us to Baan Lanta to have a look around, to see if we would like to stay there for our last few days on the island - all for free! We loved it so much, we booked it there and then (we bartered and got a reduced rate as well as a free massage thrown in!) - and they offered us a free transfer too.

When we arrived, we were put in number 14 - a Pool View room (cheaper then Beach view), however this hut also had a Beach view from the balcony so best of both worlds!! The pool was incredible - clean, fresh water, and cool - perfectly refreshing when sunbathing or when back from a day out. it was even beautiful for a night time dip under the stars! There were also plenty of sun loungers, and there was always some sun around the pool somewhere (and always shade in other areas) - so perfect for everyone!

They did have a restaurant, which we ate breakfast and lunch at every day (very good, huge choice, and reasonable priced) however we never ate dinner there as there were some really lovely places on the beach, just a short walk away. There was also a fresh fish BBQ available every Friday night, and a bar (althouhg this didn't serve water, so we went to a 7/11 supermarket which was just outside resort).

The beach was incredible - endless amounts of glorious white sands, and plenty of places to explore along for meals. The resort also offered ice cream in cones any time of the day - such a treat!

The rooms were absolutely stunning - A/C, huge beds, mosquito net, TV, loungers inside, rain shower, fridge, sofa...the list goes on! Wonderfully relaxing both inside and out the hut. Staff were friendly, and organised an elephant ride for us with free transfer - about 10 minutes away.

We hired mopeds from just outside the resort as well to explore the island, and visit sunset bars for some absolutely stunning views! I also got a pedicure in the spa - very relaxing and great quality.

Absolutely 5* resort, loved every minute of our stay.

Room Tip: Choose hut 14!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this gorgeous hotel for a good 10 days last summer (2012), during Koh Lantas green season. We absolutely loved it. The location is great and the staff is super freindly and helpful. It's a pretty quiet place during green season, but the little village where the hotel is located, is still alive. We can recommend the "Why Not Bar" for good drinks, excellent service, fireshow and horrible music. ;)
The food at Baan Laanta resort was not very good, but not unedible. There are some really nice restaurants only minutes away, so it didn't really matter to us. The pool is a little strange, with green water, but it was rinsed many times during our stay and we were in it almost everyday, without any problems. The rooms are clean, romatic and very comfortable. Shower facilities were also super. The beach is only minutes away, and it's quite nice! Watch out for the monkeys though.
We were supposed to stay here for 5 days and change hotels, but after looking around on the island, we decided to stay put and Baan Laanta. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the restaurant (which might be better during high season?).

My wife and I satyed here and had the most fantastic time. The beach is secluded enough that a short walk is all you need to have your own piece of paradise. The Why-Not beach bar was the highlight of our evenings, with friendly staff, relaxed vibes, live music every night with optional kareoke! The rooms are different, but spacious and with beautiful views over the bay. I would highly reccomend this hotel if you want to get away from the bustle of the more 'popular' islands and truly unwind.
