Owner description: Lanta Old Town is a small village on Ko Lanta's East Coast in Krabi Province. Many years ago, Ko Lanta's Old Town acted as the port and commercial center for the island and provided safe harbor for Arabic and Chinese trading vessels sailing between the larger ports of Phuket, Penang and Singapore. Today, Old Town is the district capital; it has a post office, police station, Buddhist temple, Chinese temple and the island's hospital as well as a long pier.

Well worth the ride or drive! Quaint town with interesting shops, less of a tourist trap and more local feel. Weekly market on Sunday morning will have food, crafts and more!

very small town but it's the biggest town on the island! it's worth a visit though so you can see how all the people who work at your hotel live their lives it makes you appreciate everything you have got back at your hotel.

Situated on the east coast, itself a lovely drive, the old shop houses have been rebuilt to atract the tourists and they have done a good job. Many restaurants and cafes, craft shops and a few guesthouses make it an ideal half day trip.

Hired a moped and travelled round the island for the day. Great fun! Beautiful silver jewellery shop on the left just after old town. Stopped for food and views at panorama cafe.
