Owner description: Lanta Old Town is a small village on Ko Lanta's East Coast in Krabi Province. Many years ago, Ko Lanta's Old Town acted as the port and commercial center for the island and provided safe harbor for Arabic and Chinese trading vessels sailing between the larger ports of Phuket, Penang and Singapore. Today, Old Town is the district capital; it has a post office, police station, Buddhist temple, Chinese temple and the island's hospital as well as a long pier.

If you are looking to buy bikinis, there are plenty here. The sunblock and suntan lotions are really expensive, please bring before you come to Ko Lanta. Lots of nice eateries with sea facing, not to be missed.

Just a nice old fashioned place to visit. Not a bustling paradise but full of old Thai charm instead.

I was expecting to see a bit more when we drove past the Lanta Old Town. Maybe more of local architecture or culture but really it didn't look like much at all. In fact the first time we drove past it, we didn't even know! Give this a miss, and spend more time relaxing on Ko Lanta.

We though we'll find something interesting there, but Lanta old town is a street about 500-600 meter long with houses like in the Western on both sides. There's nothing to see.

we had a great lunch at the pier side. we liked the outdoor fitness next to the pier. the town is very quiet during low season. the small shops are very authentic.
