We have just spent the most incredible last few days on this beautiful resort! It really is a slice of paradise on a beautiful beach, with a great swimming pool, delicious food (especially the bbq). The bungalows are gorgeous and we could not be happier staying here- we really do not want to leave! We have became great friends with the owner, Aod. The staff are amazingly attentive and always look so happy. The cocktails are delicious and the bar plays great music. We really enjoyed the friday night party and watching the thai boxing, thai dancing and the fire show. We met quite a few fellow travellers there, who we have kept in touch with. We spent most of our time making the most of being able to swim in the sea. Bliss.

This is our first trip to Thailand and we really felt that the staff made us feel so welcome and at ease, it was a perfect home away from home.

Thank you for such a fantastic stay,

Carmen and Blue :)

I booked for 7 nights at the Lanta palace resort in Koh Lanta. the hotel is totally run down. The bed linen and towels need to be replaced. The gardens are untidy and the atmosphere is one of neglect. I will advise against staying here

We were here in the prak season and it was hard to find something. We were à little afraid to come here due to the bad reviews. So we came with very low expectations.

Overall we had à great time! Yes it was basic, but it was clean the breakfast fine and the rooms quite spacious. The staff helped us out really wel. The christmas dinner we didnt attend due to our kids was party refunded, when our AC broke down at 9 pm they fixed it immediatly.

Overal if you need luxury dont go here. If you're into basic appartments really à good choice!

This is not a bad hotel. But it's not a great hotel either. We spent seven days here (two adults and two children) and had agreat time. The good things first: The food is good. Our room was nice. The snorckling off the coast was better than most beaches at Lanta. The pool area is nice. The massage hut is heaven! The staff was friendly.
But I asked myself when I was there: Why have a fitness room when all the machines are useless? Why promote a "orchid garden" when it looks more like a dump? Why have a nice front desk area, when the driveway to the resort is full of garbage? However, all in all, we liked the place and had a great time

We staid at lanta palace for four days during our honeymoon. It's definitely a budget hotel. The service is friendly, and easy going. The bungalow was clean, but could have had some fit and finish improvements. The doors were too small for the jambs, and there were pretty good sized gaps through which you could see the outside. A bit of weather stripping would work wonders here. The shower in the room was low pressure, but we worked around this by removing the restrictor from the sprayer, you just can't turn the water up too high after doing this or the water will be cold. We did have some ants in our bungalow by the end of our stay, but fixing the gaps in the doors would probably solve this issue. Our bungalow was in the first row, and we could watch the sunset from our porch. A note about the porch, watch out for the stones, though they are pretty, they stick out and are tough on the feet. They really should be removed or sunk lower into the concrete.

The grounds are nice, and the pool/restaurant is right on the beach, the happy hour is good, and the prices reasonable.

The food here is terrible. We had several dishes which tasted rancid, and there was little evidence of cold food being kept cold, and warm food being kept warm in the breakfast buffet. So I would guess it's much the same in the kitchen. It's probably best to eat elsewhere, and not purchase the breakfasts with your room. If the owners could improve the food handling and preparation, the food would probably be much better. I don't think the staff were properly trained in this regard.

We really appreciated the in room safe. Many of the other hotels in koh lanta have the safes at reception or not at all.

The beach is wonderful, but bring your water shoes as it's a bit rocky if you are going for a swim.

Overall we had a good stay at lanta palace.

Room Tip: Get a beach front single bungalow they are quiet, you can watch the sunset and fall asleep to the so...

We stayed here with a bunch of friends. THey picked us up from the pier and even offered a return trip for free (but we all took buses instead). The staff were lovely and even though they were renovating at the time.

Pool was really clean and had a lovely outlook. If you are looking for a reasonable bungalow that is clean and out of town this is your place.

I am not sure why they call so many hotels 'a palace'. Surely it is not a palace but a collection of bungallows ( some beach front) and a small hotel building. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow and really cannot complain.
The little house we had for us was clean, newly renovated ( or so it seemed), it had an LCD TV, fridge filled every day with bottled water, tea kettle, a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. The beach was literally two steps from the bungalows - take a look at the attached pics.

The pool was great - it's reasonably deep so that you can swim and not just wade there. We did have some meals in the restaurant and the food was OK.
On the downsides: breakfast is a bit of a joke - that;s true. There's very little selection and warm food is not really warm. Also some of the facilities are not really in their best shape like the parasols at the pool ( some would not stay open) and the little gym is practically disfunctional.
Also remember not to buy any trips or ask for a taxi/tuk-tuk at the reception as they are much over priced. Have a 3 min. walk to the main road and you'll find other travel agencies and taxis where you can bargain the price. For the trips however it's even better to make a taxi ride to the town Saladan - there you will really find bargains.

So all in all, if you look for a very calm place to stay, with no crowds of tourists and really by the beach for a reasonable price, you can surely go there. Just don't have your expectations for a palace but relax, get your drink and enjoy the pool and the beach with not many people around.

Room Tip: get the beach front bungalow and remember that it's not a 5 star property but an economy option...
