This is just a delightful place: the extremely friendly members of the staff do their utmost to make you feel at home, the rooms are beautiful, clean and spacious, the outdoor showers are a bless and so is the swimming pool. Another bonus: wifi for free. If you want peace and quiet Chaw Ka Cher is your place! If you want a piece of the action: just take one of the tuk tuks to the small village. You want to go to the beach? Just walk! In about ten minutes from the hotel you will find the lovely beach of Relax Bay. Just sit back, relax and check out the delicious menu of the beach restaurant. About five minutes from Chaw Ka Cher, on the right side of the road leading to Relax Bay, there is another place where they serve great food, Pad Thai House, owned by a lovely Thai family. On my next trip to Koh Lanta, I will definitely stay at Chaw Ka Cher again.

We stayed at this hotel for only 4 nights at the beginning of January, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely go back.

The beach is about a 10 min walk from the hotel, but is a must visit as it is one of the nicest on the island, very clean and not busy at all.

The rooms were beautiful and spacious. Very clean. The outdoor bathroom is always good fun too, nice to take a shower under the stars :). The only reason the rooms didn't get a 5 for us is because they are so light! The rooms have massive floor to ceiling windows on two walls making in really nice during the day, but during the night inside the room is very bright as the curtains are cream, so almost see through! That being said, all the other facilities and staff make up for that one issue.

Breakfast was lovely and to be honest we're struggling to believe what other people have said about there not being enough, unless that has been changed in the last few months! Most mornings there was too much.

You do need a moped to get around Lanta, but they are reasonably priced (200thbt) and fuel is cheap. There are lots of place to explore north and south with plenty of restaurants to explore. The roads are not busy and the island is really beautiful so it's nice to take the moped around it. We were there in high season but the island was not busy at all.

The pool is very nice and clean.

Restaurant was good but a tad pricey compared to outside the hotel.

Excursions are reasonably priced through the hotel.

The staff are very friendly and willing to help out with anything, there is a real personal feel to the hotel, there is a turndown service every night with fresh flowers, and when we checked out they gave me a beautiful hand-made Chaw-Ka-Cher diary!

A beautiful hotel, with beautiful staff that want nothing more than for you to have a perfect stay with them. I stayed here with my partner in December 2009, for four days of serenity, romance and sheer bliss. The beaches are within walking distance, should you want to leave the hotel, and there is enough (just) going on in the evenings to keep you entertained for a short day. This place is paradise on a budget and perfect after a crazy time in nearby Phi Phi.

This was our first trip to Ko Lanta, our friends had recommended we stay at Chaw Ka Cher after they had stayed here last year. We phoned prior to our arrival and the resort arranged for us to be picked up from the pier in the Chew Ka Cher taxi-van. The resort is about ten minutes from the pier and located a five minute walk from the beach.

Initailly we booked four nights but ended up staying seven. We had intended to move on to Phi Phi but decided to give it a miss as our poolside bungalow was lovely and there was plenty to do in Ko Lanta.

Our bungalow was spotless, as was the resort itself. Our room was situated directly next to the pool with our own balcony; charis and beds overlooking the pool. The pool side rooms are slightly more expensive then the other rooms and, from what we could tell, were very similar apart from the poolside location.

Our breakfast was included and there were quite a few options to pick from on the menu. Breakfast was served to you at your table or alternatively you could take it to your room. The food was good and the service was excellent. The resort also offered a lunch and dinner menu and all the food we tried was very good.

The resort offers a free taxi service to the pier everyday at 11am. You can also pay to use the taxi-van to take you around the island, this is not cheap but transport in general is expensive around Ko Lanta unless you hire a scooter.

The staff at Chew Ka Cher were great, they were very warm and friendly and there was a great family atmosphere. There are only about 25 rooms in the resort and you get a very personal service. The staff are able to book any of the popular trips and transport off the island but they do add commission to the price and you are better off booking at the pier itself.

The resort serves alcohol in the restaurant but it was very quiet when we were there and we headed down towards long beach for the night life. The only down side to the resort is that is loctated on the main road, about a 10 - 15 minute walk from the bars and shops. This is ok during the day but not at night as there is little street lighting and lots of traffic on the roads; we used the motorbike taxis alot and this can add up if you make lots of journeys.

We found Ko Lanta in general alot quiter then many of the other islands and resorts around Krabi. It looks as if the place has expanded quickly but there are not enough people around to fill the hotels and bars, it is like going to a resort out of season. Notwithstanding this though we absolutely loved it and would definately go back. You can get to Phi Phi easliy on the ferry and so could go there for a few nights if you wanted to party.

Chaw Ka Cher is a great place to relax and unwind. The resort is lovely and the staff are brilliant, the only down side is the location but we found the all the good aspects definately outweighed this minor issue.

Staying here was the highlight of our holiday in Thailand. The hotel is run by a small team of staff, including the owner, who take real pride in making sure the guests have a good stay. The attention to detail is brilliant! Although the hotel isn't on the beach, the gardens, pool, quality of rooms and reception area more than make up for this. The beach and centre is about a 15 mins walk away but if you take a motorbike/ sidecar taxi it never cost us more than a £1. We stayed for 8 nights and only wished we'd stay longer. It's a really relaxing and peaceful hotel and great value for money. Make sure you book now you won't regret it!

We stayed at Chaw Ka Cher by chance, after deciding to stay on Ko Lanta sooner than we had planned, we arrived on the island quite late in the day and this hotel was available and in our price range.

We're so pleased we chose it. After a packed week and a half visiting Angkor and Northern Thailand we were more than ready for some relaxing around the pool and doing nothing for a few days, this place was ideal for it. We had a very large and spotlessy clean 'bungalow' with a very comfy bed. I think some of the more negative reviews on here are because of its location (it's not right on the beach) but for us this wasn't a problem - you pay more for a hotel right on the beach and i have to say you get less for your money on the beach front places. If you don't want to eat in the hotel there are some lovely restaurants just down the road (about a 10-15 min walk or a short Tuk Tuk ride). Buffet breakfast / and food cooked to order was lovely - we had lots of banana pancakes for breakfast, there's free internet access and a great library where you can borrow books whenever you want. We had the pool area to ourselves most days as lots of people jump on their shuttle bus to the beach. It's a very quiet and relaxing place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

We stayed for three nights and could not have been happier with the facilities and the hotel itself. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and equipped with a powerful air con. It might take some people time to get used to showering/going to the bathroom in an outdoor bathroom though. The staff was friendly and helpful. There are two computeres in the lobby area that can be used for free or you can purchase wi-fi for your room.

The negative is the location. Yes... it's only a 10 minute walk to the beach but there is one stretch of highway that you need to walk along that has no lights at night. My husband and I didn't feel too safe walking this at night so we just took tuk-tuks... the ride to the beach never cost more than 100 baht.
