“a relaxing stay”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

Spending 10 days here. It is a lovely spot; jungle gardens, large rooms which are furnished with dark wood against white walls and restrained furnishings. Beds have quality linen and are very comfortable. The outdoor shower room takes some getting used to - especially when the monkeys are jumping around! Breakfasts are good and were part of the price. Evening dining is a bit pricier than in the main drag but when you consider adding 100 baht each way for a tuk-tuk, it is okay to dine at the resort. A free lift into Saladan or anywhere enroute is available at 12.30 daily; return journey 100 baht or thereabouts. If you are looking for peaceful, restful holiday, this is the place.

Room Tip: We had room 126 which was in the shade, and suited us. We did not want to be near the pool.

Good place with very nice rooms and pool area. No free wifi in the rooms but was available in the reception area. A little out of the way but easy to hire a scooter and get to anywhere you need to go.

Visited in November 2011 (took a long time to get around to reviewing!) We absolutely loved this place. There were some downsides: it is not on the beach, and it is a little ways from town. But, that gave it a major secluded luxury feel and we loved it. The outdoor bathroom was strange at first, but fine once you get used to it.

We rented a motorbike and had no trouble getting around. Note that they rent them at the hotel, but those book up, so reserve before you go! Otherwise, you just have to rent one from one of the shops in town, and there are plenty.

This place felt like serious luxury and the staff was beyond lovely. Food was good, everyone was helpful, and you really felt like a valued guest. They even gave us a journal as a parting gift. Highly recommend.

We went there at Feb 2012.
A little far from the other resorts and retaurants. And far from the beach. It's a little unconvinient for looking around.
The individual chalet is big and clean with decoration as well as the bathroom, the pool is nice for the kid.
The breakfast included is OK.

Where to begin? We were only booked to stay at the hotel for 2 nights and frankly I wouldn't have stayed there a night longer. The first night, however, there were no major complaints. We asked to be moved rooms because of a ridiculously noisy air conditioning unit which would have meant no sleep, but the staff were happy to oblige. No problems there.
Then it all went downhill.
The second day we came back from lunch to find that the power had gone out in the room. The girl from the front desk came down, tried a different key and then told us we would have to move rooms. So we did. Only to find that the next room didn't have power either. We were then told we would have to move AGAIN. During the course of the three moves I even lost a pair of earrings because it was such a rush and hassle, although I was told that the cleaning lady never found them on the table where I had left them (probably because no-one went in to check).
All this would have been bad enough, but we realise that sometimes things go wrong, so we put up with it. Then suddenly whilst watching TV around 11pm a mass of giant flying bugs started entering our room, drawn by the lights we had on. Nothing we did could get rid of them. It was disgusting. They were crawling on our bed, on our towels, on the walls....as fast as we were trying to get rid of them, they were flying in. We went up to reception to complain and try to leave the resort altogether, only to find that there was no-one manning reception at that time of night. There was a card on the front desk saying that there should be a nightwatchman on guard, but wherever the heck he was is anyone's guess. The mobile number for the manager simply rang out to the phone at the front desk. Therefore, if anything goes wrong here after around 11pm at night, there is no-one there to help you.
The next morning we went to check out and told them that we wanted a refund for the second night as it had been such a terrible experience and we'd had no sleep. The girl at the desk told us she didn't understand and then put us on the phone to the ever-elusive manager who told us to simply go back to the online agent we had booked through. Which we did, and they still refused to compensate us anything, despite how bad the experience was.
I would never stay here again, not just because of the bug infestation, the constant moving of rooms and the nosy/malfunctioning air con units, but also because there never really seems to be anyone in charge to help if you need anything (the young girls left in charge try their best but don't seem to have the knowledge to deal with complaints or problems) and the fact that we were so rudely treated when we tried to explain how distressing this part of our trip had been.

I stayed here in 2007 and never bothered to put a review up so now I am..
We tried another place on the island and hated it, we grabbed a hire car and drove around several places to stay looking for somewhere nice at a resonable price. We chose this one in the end and it was great. Great service and very nice rooms/facilities. No beach front but the pool was great. We had a few lizards running around our walls at night which was hilarious. We loved the open roof outdoor bathroom, very Thai, it was very private but showering with the sun shining on you was a new experience and most enjoyable. This was 5 years ago but at that time it was a great place to stay.

Stayed here as part of our first visit touring round Thailand and would really recommend it.really The accomodation is set in beautiful gardens with beautiful flowers to enjoy. The outside shower / toilet is a truely unique experience especially if the monkeys pass by when you are showering!!. The staff were very heplful and we enjoyed the breakfasts.
Great island and easy to get around on a moped would go back tomorrow
