“Average hotel, great location, beautiful sunset”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014

The hotel is located on the beautiful long beach, the perfect location for watching the sunset.

The hotel in itself is a bit worn out and could use an update. We stayed in a villa very close to the beach and pool area. We enjoyed having a little terrance where we could sit and enjoy the view, because we didn’t participate in the battle for the sunbeds. If we had wanted a sunbed we would have had to get up before the break of dawn to “reserve” one – at least that’s what most guests do and then they don’t use it for most of the day. Just don’t get that behavior.
The hotel could definitely use more sunbeds/loungers.

Our villa was ok, large room with very hard beds and a loud air con and you couldn’t avoid getting the cold air on you doing the night. The bathroom was dated and could use a little fixing.

The breakfast buffet was ok, what can be expected. The food served at the restaurant was good, but they could do a lot to make the restaurant more inviting and cozy, because the location is beautiful. There a few restaurants that you can walk to a long the beach.

The staff was ok, not as polite and friendly as other places.

Room Tip: Choose a villa close to the beach and pool area

Stayed for 4 days arrived about 11am nowhere to sit around pool all beds gone. So went to end of beach and spent day there. No welcome drink though voucher to get a juice free. Room was nice down in the gardens by pool. Bed rather hard air con good. If you are earlier riser then set your alarm sunbeds along front all gone by 630am. So resorted to 7am getting up to get a sunbed arohnd pool.None on beach all crowded around pool. Need more sunbeds and new ones. Umbrella difficult to move as in heavy cement pods. Hotel take note this is an easy problem to fix people come to your hotel to relax more sunbeds and umbrellas.we had bike whole time so could get around eat in saladan great places all along seafront on stilts. A little walk to restaurants from hotel but good selection and laundry. Lovely beach you can walk for miles and beach bars dotted along. Staff English was fairly basic. The travel guides at front all in scandinavian languages. Old lanta town nice for ride on bike and lunch. Lanta as an island is great place enough to do great places to eat good shopping in saladan there are 2 markets a cheap one on left and new one on the right in about 6 large hut type buildings very nice products.

We (luckily) only stayed here for two days as we had to change our plans at the last minute and couldn't add stays onto hotels either side of this as they were fully booked.

The hotel is very average/poor I my opinion as explained below.

Rooms are broadly OK, the air conditioning works, if loudly and the bathroom is fairly clean (if you ignore the ants). Bed is big and fairly comfortable.

The pool area could be so nice with some investment as there is a big pool over looking the beach which is lovely, but there were some downsides. There isn't enough sun loungers and the ones that are here look like they were bought in the 80's and are a mix between broken and extremely uncomfortable white plastic ones and some metal wood ones with fraying covers. There also isn't enough sun shades which would be ok if you could move ones not in use but the concrete blocks are to heavy to move. And finally the biggest problem here is the rest of the hotel occupants who find it acceptable to reserve beds (and must do it about 5am) and then be there for half an hour in the day which is extremely frustrating and down right selfish. The hotel could maybe have a sign to stop this - especially as there aren't enough sun shades to go around (you can't move them) and apart from them there is no shade unless you sit on the floor under a tree.

The food here again is average, breakfast was fit for purpose and lunch was OK. Staff in the beach bar were on a whole very friendly which was nice.

Finally. The location of this hotel really caught us out. On the map it looks close to restaurants etc but in reality it's a good hours walk. Our fault for not realising this but thought I should mention so people can decide if that distance would suit them. Of course you can get taxis but if you wanted to have lunch outside the hotel it's a little more difficult.

All in all I wouldn't recommend this hotel you can get some much nicer places on koh lanta for the same price.

Our room was with sea view. Then you are inside the yard looking straight to the sea. Hotel is little outdated in some parts but everything works. Rooms are quite small with a basic bathrooms. The hotel area is well maintained and very pleasant. Hotel is on the beach and the swimming pool is right next to the sea. You can lay at the pool and have magnificent views over the sea. Most of the hotel staff are quite lazy. They aren't doing much. Only exception was Mai, lovely lady at the reception, who worked as much as the others all together. And still she was able to be friendly and helpful all the time. Breakfast was average, omelets, fruits and the usuals. The beach in front is almost empty. You have to walk a little to get to other restaurants. You can also go onto main road and walk to the nearest village. It is quite close, just few hundred meters. There is the excellent pizza place beside the road, Bajen steakhouse & pizza. Overall we liked the place and could come back.

Room Tip: You should pay for the room with sea view.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2013 via mobile

We were here with friends at the end of November and had rooms on the ground floor of the main building with a pool/sea view. Room was large and comfortable with a super bed. Bathroom was OK but with a small shower problem. The wall mounted hot water heater for the shower was under dimensioned and with a fully open water flow, could not supply hot water. Housekeeping did a great job with clean towels daily and bed sheets changed every couple of days.

The outdoor areas were well looked after and very presentable. The pool was fine but there could have been more loungers and umbrellas. Some of the umbrella's could not stay up as the clip systems were worn. The beach in front of the hotel could have been cleaner and better maintained however it us a public beach and not the hotels. The hotel is on Long Beach which is a super Beach. It took about 60 mins to walk from end to end.

The hotels beach bar was good with a very comprehensive a la carte menu. Food was very well prepared and personnel were very attentive. Communication with many hotel staff was difficult but not a huge issue. All that we gad contact with were very friendly and efficient. We did miss a cosy area to have an after dinner coffee and drink. Suggest that the hotel tries to establish a small area in the lobby area for this purpose.

Breakfast in the main restaurant was a little disappointing. We got our juice, tea and coffee, fruit, yogurt, eggs, bacon and toast but not much else. A little more effort should go into the breakfast menu.

The nearest shops and restaurants are about a 10 minute walk from the hotel with a hood selection of food choices and shopping.

We stayed 2 nights in the hotel. The hotel is well maintained. Staff are very friendly and polite. All enquiries are answered properly.

Everything is good. One comment is the breakfast. Not many choices. Need to improve. The beach bar food is moderate.

It is a good hotel for couples who wish to relax.

So much potential but minor points let it down
This hotel is in a near perfect location and potentially could be excellent, but it lets itself in a couple of areas. It's a solid 3* hotel but could be so much better at not much cost.

The greeting. Normally you receive a very warm Thai greeting on arrival in a resort hotel. Shown to a comfortable seat. Bags taken from you. Cold towels. Welcome drink. Staff then sit with you and check you in. Not here though. Stand at the desk. Hand over your passport and credit card. Get a voucher for a drink. A voucher?

Breakfast. Plain omelettes (freshly made) every day. No onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese, chillies. I bought these from a local store, gave them to the chef who gladly chopped them up and added them to the omelette for me. Lovely. Aside from this the choice is limited.

WIFI. This is available but at a cost. About THB50 a day. Not a lot of money so why not make it free? Plus it's slow.

Pool. Pool side furniture. Way past it's sell by date. Needs updating. No poolside service. Seriously? The hotel could make a killing selling drinks and snacks yet they don't bother. Missing a pool attendant.

Shower is also past it's sell by date. Barely adequate.

Aircon. Like an A380 coming in to land. Even on its lowest setting. Bring ear plugs.

The good bits:

Location. Right on the beach. Literally. Fabulous sunsets. Well kept grounds. Short walk to a decent set of bars and restaurants. Pool view rooms are lovely and offer great views of the sunsets. Lovely with a GnT!

Fresh bedding each day is nice, and decent size rooms.

Most staff are friendly. All are polite.

Room Tip: Sea view, second floor
