Arrived in lanta with no knowledge of the different beaches. Went to see a few other beaches prior to khlong Do and it was no doubt that it was the best beach!!! (locals describe it as a "family beach" but thats mainly due to the shallow water and lack of waves - personally much better to play bats and just relax on)

Was recommended the accomodation by a local "travel agent" (that drove us everywhere for free!!!!!) for a standard room in the hotel with cable tv, hot water, a/c, breakfast (yyyummmm) and daily housekeeping for 1,800 baht.

Slight confusion when arrived at hotel, as they bumped the price to 2,300baht (so in true thai style we bargained them to 2,100baht for 5nights) - but the staff were great from then on.

Had to pay for compulsary xmas eve gala dinner (1,200baht per person) which included entertainment, great food and games - also a surprise happy bday song and bottle of wine for me - thanks mr aat!

Pro's:
- All of the above
- Great pool
- People say its rocky, but literally a 50m walk to a 2.5km area of white sand and crystal clear water.
- Breakfast included
- Helpful cheerful staff
- Location and beachside views
- Great restaraunts and bars all along the beach
- Good room size, clean
- Free water

Con's:
- Small bathroom (not that big deal for us)
- Gheckos
- Shower flooding but dried within 5mins
- 40baht tuk tuk ride into town (but why go into town when you got everything at your back door??)

OUR FAVOURITE PLACE FOR THE WHOLE TRIP!!!!

Saw the brochures for the hotel so just arrived and negotiated a rate (1375THB per night) for hotel room & breakfast. Upstairs room was very clean and comfortable. No bugs whatsoever. Hot water and good A/C. We loved the setting and the beach. At night the whole bay was lit up by bar and resteraunt lights. The beachside resteraunts were very reasonably priced. There are some rocks on the beach but it is easy to find a clear space and the water is very clear and blue.
Breakfast in the hotel resteraunt was OK but some flies here so we just sat outside - problem solved. Staff were all nice and friendly, pool was clean and refreshing but sunbeds a little sparse. Would stay here again. Good value for money.

It is definitely not worth the money. The room are clean but very old. There were maybe more than 6 big, ugly and dirty cockroaches in the room and in the bathroom, My God there were coming out from the rooms wall. Mosquitoes day and night in the room. We were in the room just for sleeping. The whole time staying at the pool which was ok.

The beach was dirty and rocky. PLZ, avoid this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at this resort for four nights. We had booked in advance as the pictures looked nice enough but when we were pulling in (there were a bunch of us in a taxi) everyone looked horrified! There was a dump (seriously, a garbage dump!) at the enterance and there was a hotel. We were a bit relieved as we saw the bungalows that we had booked but they messed up our reservation and we had to stay in that hotel for one night. It was full of cockroaches and flies everywhere! I didn't dare sleep in the bed!
The bungalow was old and not that great, tv was not working that great and the air conditioning was poor.
The pool and food were okay but the beach was not the best and it was the worse place we stayed in our months trip!

(this review is from the point of view of a year long budget traveller)

We booked this resort in advance, and only choose it because it was the only place with availability for xmas.

The resort itself is nice, we paid 1000 baht for the building rooms, which were spacious and clean, with hot water and a/c, but i think holiday makers (rather than backpackers) would find the room a bit basic. There were also a few bugs, mosquitos got in quite easily.

There were individual detached villa style rooms, which i'm sure would be much nicer, though obviously more money!

The grounds were nice and well kept.

There was a good sized pool, with enough deck chairs, and also 3 open style beach huts which were nice to sit in.

The restaurant had a good menu at reasonable prices.

We had no problems with reception, but we saw quite a few people complaining that looked a bit frustrated with the staff's response.

The main downside to this resort is its location.

It is based on the rocky, unswimmable Khlong Khong beach, which is a good 20 mins car ride away from the main beaches of Khlong Dao and Phra-Ae. There is very little to do near by and you feel isolated. Though it only costs 30 baht to go to the main beaches by tuk tuk.

If i came to Koh Lanta again, i would definutley stay on Khlong Dao beach, as this is where most of the hotels and restaurants are.

Koh Lanta is a very spaced out, 'open' island, and we missed the village feel of places such as Krabi and Phuket, were you can wander to places easily. To get the most out of Koh Lanta you need to hire a motor bike, which is very cheap to do.
