“Great start to our two weeks holiday in Thailand”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

Exellent hotell and hotell area was great. At first day we didn´t get hot water but it was fixed very quickly. It was quite difficult to use the stairs of the seawaterpool. Best of all was the service and the stuff, especially two lovely cousins, Aira (Auntie Mae´s Bakery) and Jinessa (at breakfasts). They were the most hearty and took care of us so well. We get two good new friends.

Room Tip: Beds were a little bit hard at first, but we get used to them. We had a great wiew from room 8xx. Up...

Very nice resort close to the Klong Ninh beach. I would highlight a very good breakfast, the food was very delicious. Also the main pool (even I preferred swimming/bathing in the sea) is pretty spacious. The overall architecture is very nice and each facility is well preserved. I really appreciate the flora and the gardens, it gives pleasure walking from the room to the beach...
The gym is specious and relative well equipped. Special thanks to the gym staff Gerry and to Kristina in the front office for their professional approach.

Room Tip: The cottages and rooms located in the upper part are only for sportsmen, the slope is pretty steep...

We recently completed a 3 night stay at the Rawi Warin. I travel extensively for work as well as leisure, and stayed in half a dozen resorts around Thailand over the last couple of years. I would say that based on the size, facilities, and beautiful/extensive landscaping, Rawi Warin is among the top few.

Most of the positives were reflected among prior reviews, and here are my opinions as to why i wouldn't give it 5 stars:

1. Super hard bed - They spent so much money in making it a top notch resort, yet, i felt like they cheaped out on one very important, yet low cost item. The bed is probably the hardest of all beds all the hotels I stayed in Thailand, and actually gave me a pretty bad back/shoulder pain for a few days. Seriously.... replace them with better beds or at least, get some sort of mattress topper.

2. Poor wifi coverage - I was in the 8xx which is the furthest up the hill. Wifi reception was so poor that i as unable to connect to the internet most days.

3. The cart that takes us up and down, sometimes they get busy and take a long time to pick up... which is understandable but the front desk staff should have said something about it.

4. Not all rooms have view of ocean and you can't really control it. Because of dense landscape, the view is completely blocked from some rooms. So its really a hit or miss and I think the hotel should do something about it because guests would come expecting to have sea view only to see trees out the window.

Hints!

Room Tip: If you would like to save $$ on local meals and massage there are plenty of choices around. Walk on...

A great experience ! Our first choice, Pimalai resort, was fully booked on our only possible dates, so we turned to Andaman Adventures of Krabi, who found this resort for us and suggested that we give it a try. We are very happy for their recommendation because we had a great stay here. The staff are every-so-friendly and ready to help, the meals were tasty without fault. Our room was spotless and breezy. There is really nothing negative to say about our experience at Rawi Warin. Oh yeah, 4 nights weren't long enough :)

Given the feedback Rawi Warin has received, we were slightly apprehensive about the stay. Our concerns were however blown away by the gentle reception and excellent service from beginning to end. The premises are beautiful and rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast selection is extensive, with dishes ranging from western tastes to Asian. As said in other reviews the small drawbacks such as the small and somewhat rocky beach and somewhat distant location from shops are very easily overcome. We loved it for the beauty and variety of services, the kids loved it for the pool, slides and playroom and the grandparents loved it for the peaceful atmosphere. We would definitely come back.

Room Tip: Pick a room which is not up the hill - the hike up can be quite taxing.

A little family oriented but definitely one of the best hotels in Lanta. The hospitality was top notch. Room was clean and very nice. Hotel property is huge. The hotel's private beach was small and nothing great to be honest. The hotel is in the middle of the island. Most of the bars and restaurants are at the North side if Lanta. If you rent a scooter from the hotel, that translates to about a 15 minute ride. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to any visitor. :)

We knew before we came here that the chances our 'deluxe' room would be up quite a few flights of stairs would be high, and we were not wrong. However we opted to stay in one of the cheaper rooms (and at just over £100 a night I felt we got excellent value for money) in a luxury resort than stay in a better room in a cheaper resort. The stairs are a pain, it's true, but you get used to them/use their free pick up or drop off service or minimise the number of times you go up and down, it's not really a deal breaker as everything else more than makes up for it, and it's not like they make it a big secret, most people must know before they get here that it's on a hill. Surely?

The resort is fabulous in many ways - the pool is one of the best I have swum in (beaten only by the Marriott in Khaolak) and we could always get a sun bed as they have chosen to put out lots and lots of them AND get guests to sign out towels, which certainly makes you feel a bit more responsible for returning them after use.

Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Pool service quick and made so much easier by the use of wireless bell pushes at every other sunlounger. Wifi (even at the top of the, gasp, hill) was fast and reliable. Breakfast was good - with amazing croissants (but the addition of Bircher muesli would have made it excellent).

On the downside, beds are hard. Very hard. And pillows are just too big, my neck ached after the first night, but I requested, and got, a softer pillow, which was a lot more comfortable. With softer beds and Bircher muesli I would have had to give this hotel 5stars.

We ate at the two restaurants on the beach which were both good - we don't tend to eat in hotel restaurants as they tend to be too formal, overpriced and attract a further 17% in tax. Had excellent massages on the beach too (for the same reasons). There is a 7-11 at the entrance for stocking up on water and life-enhancing Magnum bars. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
