The location and the design of the hotel are perfect. The room looks very modern and new, one of the best I've seen in resort hotels. The view was to the sea, it's important to insist on sea view while booking. The only minus - not enough light for reading in the bed.
The landscape is very nice, both in day and in night.
There is a free wifi in the hotel, but it's organized in a very sophisticated way - you need to receive login and password every 2 days. Moreover, while the quality of signal in our room was OK, the speed of connection was low and had to be re-established roughly every 2 hours. I would say, you need to be very patient to keep using wifi in the hotel.
The service in general needs to be improved. Personnel was friendly and hard-working, but their work looked chaotic. Understanding of English is below of acceptable level, it's almost impossible to get from them what we wanted from the first time.
And please pay attention to the bill while checking-out - they wanted to charge us one bottle of wine 3 times.. Plus some restaurant expenses that were signed by another guest.

Dear family from Moscow,

The Team thanks you for the valuable feedback. This will help us all to improve on things that you valued the most important; and lead the way to the right direction.

We are aware of the problems with internet during high occupancy - high speed is always a challenge in rural areas in Thailand, but will be gradually improved.

Language skills are also a well-known issue, comes with the remoteness of the island. At the same time the remoteness and peaceful, easy pace of living are the reasons that attract people.

We are working on skills in languages and services all the time.

Our Team hopes to see you here again to witness the progress!

Best Regards

The Team at Rawi Warin Resort & Spa

I have given the Rawi Warin a “poor” rating because of the fact that we paid £200 a night to stay here and it simply is not worth it - not even close - yep, that’s right, over £2000 for 10 nights stay.

We only picked it because one of us is in a wheel chair and for that purpose its very good, as is the design of the resort and the lighting at night is very lovely and the pool is fantastic but it stops there....

It ‘claims’ to be a 5* resort and the fact is, it isnt.

The staff are grumpy and rude (not all, the cleaners and gardeners were the happiest), the food and drinks are massively over priced (£10 for a burger and a shake? - you’d get change in the UK from a tenner)!!!

The rooms are not the same as they look on the website and if anyone is above you then you’ll get their noise in your room.

We paid for a Pond Room but got the back of the pool kitchen so sitting outside was possible if you like the constant smell of fried food - I asked for a discount but was laughed at (probably cause they already had our money) - very professional.

The internet in this place simply does not work (see numerous complaints on here from other guests). We complained many times to the manager ‘John’ but nothing was done about it - we gave up in the end.

The Christmas dinner was a total joke - £40 a head and for what - rubbish food, no atmosphere what so ever, over an hour to get our wine, a further 30 minutes to get our water.....it was like a Thai version of Faulty Towers - the staff were utterly clueless!!!!

The Rawi Warin has the potential to be an amazing resort but its so badly run by management and staff with bad attitudes and terrible customer service, its a crying shame really - it was a real let down for us.

Dear Marcus & Co,

Thank you for your time to evaluate our services, we are happy for every review, they make us work harder and help us to monitor on things our guests feel are important for a pleasant stay.

With that said we are sad that your stay didn’t meet fully your expectations.

The issues on service and quality are well noted and more effort and resources are allocated to improve those;
• more bandwidth to meet the higher requirements that come with smartphones, ipads and laptops – however, rural areas will not be able to provide equal service you experience in Europe
• We will continue with our training plan and sessions in English and service skills

The whole Team wish to see you back for another, improved experience!

Best Regards

This resort has beautiful grounds and an ideal location in Koh Lanta. The only problem - there is absolutely no service at all. The rooms aren't cleaned regularly, the restaurant can take 2-3 hours to serve your meal (one course). The "Pool" Bar and restaurant is not supposed to be self serve; but, surprise! The staff is friendly, but not helpful. There are better choices.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not UP the mountain

To put this review in context, this was a US$400/ night resort for a deluxe room. For that kind of price, you'd expect everything to be top-notch - it's not!

The property itself was passable. The landscaping was rather nice, and the facilities were decent. It's actually quite a big property and the deluxe rooms were basically hotel rooms built on the hillside. So if one is expecting a beachfront resort, you only get that with the most expensive beach front villas. The hillside deluxe rooms needed a bit of uphill walk. We were only the 2nd block on the hill, so no problems at all. Our rooms were on the 4th floor with no lifts, so that's a bit of effort, but worth it for the view of the Andaman Sea.

The rooms were fine. Minor issues (like yellowed toilet seats, broken tiles in the bathroom, stained duvet covers) which should not happen in such an expensive resort, but not really a major problem. Wifi was free, but you need to log-on every single time with a user name and password that expires every 2 days, and the network is super slow. It worked better if we sat near the balcony of our room. We got better wifi speed at a local restaurant just 2 minutes walk from the hotel.

The beach, as the staff pointed out to us on check-in, was rocky so not the best. He suggested we walk 10 minutes south of the resort (actually more like 20 minutes) to the main stretch of the Klong Nin beach. We did get an opportunity to get down there and was indeed much nicer, and with lots of restaurants and bars.

The service needs a lot work. When we first checked in, we asked for extra pillows. We got them more than half an hour later, and after asking 3 times. At breakfast in the 1st morning, it took 15 minutes for my cappuccino to be served, and after asking 3 times. On the 2nd morning, we needed early breakfast to make a tour we booked, so went at exactly 6.30am when breakfast was supposed to be ready. The staff were still setting the table, the toaster was not on, the chef manning the egg station was 10 minutes late, all hot food was still not heated up, and labels were still missing from some of the items. I asked a staff member what was in a pot that had no label. She said "don't know" and walked away!?

At the pool, we found a couple of deck chairs with an umbrella stand in between, but no umbrella. The 1st time we asked the staff, he said no more umbrellas. We looked around and saw some on the beach, so we asked again, but he said it's for the beach even though no one was using them. We walked around the pool and saw one lying beside the pool, so we asked the 3rd time, but he said the guy on the deck chair did not want it up then (as he was sunning himself) and may want it later. We said we will return it the moment he wants it back. The staff said okay, he will get us a new one - we thought he said there were no more the 1st time we asked!?

Food-wise, it was just passable (except cold breakfast if you are too early). However, the breakfast spread was not great - certainly pales in comparison to all the 5 star hotels we have stayed in Bangkok. The Thai food at dinner was authentic enough but not fantastic given its price. Also they did not have any Thai desert, which was disappointing. Just 2 minutes walk after turning right from the back exit of the resort, there were a couple of very decent local Thai restaurants. These were better options.

Overall, we still had an enjoyable year-end holiday. More attention to customer service on the part of the resort would have made it better.

Room Tip: Try to ask for a room not so far up the hill if getting a deluxe room to minimize uphill walk. No li...

We booked this hotel over the Christmas / New Year's holiday and had a less than satisfactory experience. Yes, the hotel was full and it was high season but this should not come as a surprise. The hotel should be prepared for peak periods.

The resort itself is lovely and well-maintained. We had a pool-view villa close to the main facilities. However, given the $500/night rate we were paying, we did expect much better service.

For example, our room sometimes wasn't made up until 4:00 pm and the housekeepers left clean and dirty linens, water and other service items on the steps of our (and other rooms) for hours at a time, and we often had to ask for enough towels (they kept leaving two towels for three people).

The service in the restaurants and bar, especially at the pool, was a joke. Frequent issues:

- dirty tables not cleared at peak periods of the breakfast buffet
- poor service in the main restaurant - lack of wait staff attention and orders mixed up, food delivered sporadically
- utter incompetence at the pool restaurant/kiosk; staff had poor English, were not friendly and you frequently had to stand at the counter and demand service or you'd be left waiting for 10 minutes or more. A real gong show.

As well, on New Year's Eve, the hotel required all guests to purchase a $150/pp New Years Gala ticket. Then they closed off the whole pool area for that day and even closed all food service at the resort from 1:30 onwards.

Let's just say the guests were not amused. In general, there were lots of service complaints all week long. It was frequently evident at the front desk where guests were sharing their frustrations.

After receiving no satisfaction from the duty manager, we did speak with the general manager who acknowledged a number of service issues. To his credit, he discounted our rooms significantly but even at that price, one would expect better service.

Bottom line: Nice place but very pricy and poor service. I would not recommend it until they get the staffing and service issues resolved.

Room Tip: The resort is built against a hill so unless you want to climb up to your room or call for a buggy...

We did Family holiday over the new year break at koh lanta. The hotel is gorgeous very well laid out and maintained. We stayed at the sunset pool villas ... K.Gay ( ms Tuangrat Kanthaboon) was very helpful and efficient. In spite of the hectic schedule during the new year she found time to speak with customers and make them feel welcome.

The rooms were on a hill and require a buggy to get there ... We walked most days .. Was good exercise. The room was brilliant ... With views of the sea..you can sit on the sun deck and hear the soothing sound of the waves ... The lounge has a brilliant music system which makes a good evening setting. The bathrooms and rooms are well equipped.

Have to say the hotel pools are brilliant ... The ozone pool is big ..And over looks the blue andaman sea ... The hotel has created a pool in the ocean as well ... Which is fun.

Breakfast is good ..something for everyone ... The spa is amazing had two body scrubs and the rest of the family had heaps of aroma massages ... Very nice. There is a small shack on the beach for a massage as well ..

Some improvements in service consistency are required .. But I am guessing these were small lapses because of the new year rush.

Overall a very memorable experience ... And a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: Pond villa.. Make sure you are not in the corner of the hotel Sunset pool villa..room 310 has the b...

From the moment i rolled up i knew i was gonna love this resort. First and foremost it really is a resort, huge land, spaces, all spread out on this hillside set up....with true Asian architecture all in all making the feel a real holiday feel. It has walkways, bridges over ponds, gazebos for eating or just chilling and all the accommodations are really spread out.....add to that the style, architecture and landscaping and it has 100% all the ingredients you want from a resort.

At night...wow. So romantic and atmospheric, especially if you go for a stroll over those bridges, walkways and down to the beach front terrace dining area. All i can here is some faint music, waves and chatting of other happy guests.

But enough about that, also on offer here is seriously awesome food, super rooms and beds.....facilities that are 5 star and not just a claim and a very attentive quirky and fun Manager...who leads by example with his staff. And special thanks to the chefs there as my wife (Thai lady) really loves more hard and traditional style Thai food, so he knocked her up some real Isaan favourites, and this really made her holiday that much better as she also got to eat what she likes....a great personal caring touch, as it should be in 5 Stars!

Thanks guys....you will be seeing us again next year!

Room Tip: Room tip would be, if you come to a place as stunning as this, stretch the budget if you have to and...
