We arrived at the Twin Beach Resort and a very nice receptionist gave us a warm welcome. The resort has a basic look, small bungalows surrounded by tropical plants and our bungalow had direct seaview, close to the sea. Wonderful. But then the disappointmence started: The beachbar was closed, the restaurant was closed, we got tickets for our breakfast that we could use in a resort 2 miles away (taxi would be free).

But then still, what if you're into a snack? A coffee? A coke? There was no food or drinks whatsoever in the resort, luckily the pool contained water. For every snack or soda we had to go by TukTuk to town! This was unbelievable. Next to our door, there were people busy repairing roofs from bungalows by stripping them, other bungalows were used as storage houses for furniture. On the internet this resort looks like a terrific place, but in reality it looks like the Tsunami just passed by. Going to town is not a pleasant thing to do either; the poverty in this part of the island is a horrific thing to see.

One BIG thumb up for the receptionist; she took great care of us when we said we didn't want to stay there. She charged one night, fair with me, it was late already, and she arranged the booking and transfer to the resort of our choice: La Laanta, on the south of the island. If you're into exploring paradise, that is where you have to go to!

I stayed in Krabi for 4 nights and then booked for 3 nights at the Twin Bay Resort. (I forgot that i had a flight just after 2 nights! I asked them to cancel the 3rd night, but got no refund.)

Anyways, let give you an overview of this resort -

Location - This resort is situated between two Bays, hence "twin bay". It is right next to the main market of Lanta called Saladan Market, where you get all your essentials. The negative point her is that from the main road, you have to take a left in a road which goes all the way till the end and you will find the resort between two bays. Now this road doesnt have any lights!!! Its complete dark in the night! You cannot walk. If you want to go to the main street from the Resort, it will take you around 20-25 mins. If you take a bike, just 3 - 4 mins.

The resort - The resort itself is so perfectly located between twin bays! looks beautiful. Nice swimming pool and bar. There are just individual rooms (bunglow style). We wanted a Sea view room, but due to unavailablitiy, we were upgraded to a Executive Delux room, which is a bit bigger! (thats it!!). The next day we stayed at the sea view room, which was good in size but perfect with sea views!!!! And you wont believe this, none of the rooms in Twin Bay resort has a Telephone!!! Yes! You cannot call the reception if you need anything or if your TV is not working! You gotta walk all the way to the reception and they will help you!

The Bar - One of the Best bars I have visited! The Bartenders are excellent in making great drinks!!

Mosquitoes - Yes, there are mosquitoes in the resort but no mosquito killing devices in the room! But once you switch on the AC they all hide away!

Restaurant and Breakfast - The Restaurant at twin bay is average and expensive! Infact you can eat better food on the main street with 1/2 of the price! Try a hotel called - THAI IS-SAN Restaurant. I have never tasted such amazing Thai food ever.

The breakfast at Twin Bay was good but with minimal choice.

Overall, If you are planning to visit it with family and you wont explore Lanta, Twin bay would be a good choice.

But if you are keen of renting a bike and exploring the lanta island, there are many other hotels which will give you better sea views, right on the main street location and access to a small supermarket for your essentials!
