after seeing Diecks at its prior location across the street
(which i didn't think was such a good location), i was pleased
to see them move across the street to the main road;
their business has, deservedly, picked up;
last week, a Danish friend of mine (yearly extended-stay visitor to Lanta)
wanted a place to have an early beer to quell his hangover before his flight;
since i hadn't tried Diecks yet, this was the perfect opportunity;
all around us, people were enjoying breakfasts & sandwiches of nice portions
& fresh ingredients; i ordered 2 different kinds of sausages,
advertised on menu as authentically German in taste;
i must say that they were tasty & filling, and my Danish friend had a few bites;
he confirmed the authenticity of taste, texture, etc
we talked w/few adjoining patrons, everybody seemed to be enjoying their meals,
although not ecstatically so; but the place is very family friendly
and is a welcome addition to the choices in Klong Dao...
the bar located next door, Cheeky Monkey, is by no means Lanta's
most popular watering hole, nor is Dieck's the best sandwich on Lanta,
but the food is tasty and fresh; service is friendly & erstwhile albeit a bit harried
& disorganized when they are busy;
i saw many customers impatient
but this should not deter one from stopping in for a nice tasty Western meal...
