We were celebrating a wedding here. For events such a wedding facilities are great here! The food was great and the set up was so beautiful. But it seems that they don't have weddings each year. Preparation for 'big day' was in rough-and-ready fashion.

Awesome sunsets should be missed on the beach cabanas. Staff were very helpful and good at there jobs. Spa was very relaxing and more than willing to accommodate us when we got sun burn on a kayaking trip and needed skin rescue. Food at both main restaurants was fabulous

Great stay here, booked this place as part of a 2 week island hop with Andaman Sky Adventures, who not only put together a fab holiday but also saved me a packet at the resorts, particularly here at Pimalai, where their price was way lower than anywhere else on the web. This is one of the best resorts I have ever stayed at and I’ve stayed at a lot of 5 stars – USA, India, Europe and several in SE Asia too,

We booked a pool villa and got one with absolute privacy where the only view we had was of nature – no other buildings in sight, just the sea and the jungle and the beach – our agent requested this villa for us as they said it was the best one, and it did indeed seem to be the best one, ‘though of course I only got to see one of them. Our villa was spacious, clean and well-equipped, loads of room for us. The extra beds we needed were put in the living room, so my wife and I had nighttime privacy.

The beach here at Pimalai is a highlight, it is almost a private beach & is swimmer-friendly even at low tide. The resort’s 2 main pools are big and it is possible to get exercise in them, as they are not crowded so you can get a few lengths in. Breccy is tasty and offers a huge variety, we were well happy with it. It would have been nice to have had the shampoo automatically replaced when we emptied it, as you expect that in a 5 star, so we were a bit disappointed to have to ask for this, but that’s not much to complain about really.

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. It is great to get the beach activities - paddleboards, kayaks, etc - at no extra cost too. We were quite surprised, after reading TA reviews about how the food is overpriced, to find that we didn’t agree with this sentiment and that we thought the food quite reasonably priced for the standard offered. If you think the food is pricey then it is not really a problem as there are nearby places where you can get good Thai food at a fraction of the price.

The spa treatments were invigorating with lovely touches like a refreshing cup of te both before and after the treatment. Our island hopping trip went to spots that were not too crowded and the food provided after the snorkeling was tasty.

Room Tip: Book a pool villa with Andaman Sky and they'll request one of the units with the best views for...

As a family we are well travelled however this is my first review on trip advisor as I feel this hotel deserves it. We travelled with our 20 year old daughter and had a standard room which was more than big enough. The feeling of total relaxation from arrival to departure was partly due to the location and scenery but the staff helped as they are fantastic. We especially enjoyed the free water sports such as the hobie and canoes.

We ate in all the restaurants and enjoyed every meal. We also ventured into the local village to eat and enjoyed the atmosphere in the local bars.

My daughter and I had great daily massage along the beach as paying for two daily in the hotel spa would have been too expensive.

The beach is lovely with plenty of sunbeds and shades with ample space between you and the next couple.

Normally I wouldn't return to the same hotel but this one is extra special so going to book for nov/dec.

We travel as couple and this summer, in July- August, we have found Pimalai Resort, located in Lanta Yai island, a paradise in the Andaman sea, where luxury boutique accommodation goes hand in hand with gourmet dining and wining. The visitor is greeted with lemongrass-infused iced water in this art gallery-impersonating lobby, where the ceramics make it look more to a museum of Asian fine art.

A complex in the midst of the jungle, blending superbly with the natural beauty of the island, the boutique hotel offers a selection of tastefully decorated suites and pool villas, all with great sea views.

We tried 2 of their range of room categories:

Pool Villa, a 204 sqm built on a piece of hilly land. Spacious, elegant Thai architectural design, it provides wide views of Ba Kan Tiang bay and the surrounding lush tropical forest. The sundeck featuring a private infinity edge swimming pool and a luxurious baldaquin is where you can read their luxury Southeast Asia travel guides.
Bay front Deluxe Room is placed on a small hill, and at 7-8m in front of us, the beach. The sound of waves rousted me out of bed early everyday ready to walk and swim and smile. The first image in the morning, when waking up, was the one of the sea.. incredible feeling for someone that has always dreamed to live by the sea!
With a superb choice of eight fantastic restaurants and bars (in high season) and 3 in low season, settings range from beach casual to sophisticate dining experience and all complemented by the unforgettable sea views. In all the restaurants we found reasonably priced and very well selected wines.

“Seven Seas” restaurant with its infinity pool at the top, is giving guests a sweeping panoramic view of the sun setting over the bay and surrounding hills.
“Under the Banyan tree” restaurant, with its traditional thai cuisine, splurged our dinners with famous Thai dishes such as Tom Yam goong, Morning glory, Goong makam, Som Tam, deep- fried sea bass with crispy kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass& herbs, served with Thai spicy sauce.
My favorite place to dine, with the sand between the toes, watching the waves crushing, is "Rak Talay" beach restaurant. The restaurant is given the name of the plant surrounding it. It has a very original design that compliments the beach charm. Fabulously crafted dishes, cooked to perfection, a glass of Louis Roederer, the spectacle of Andaman.. and the love of my life next to me.. idyllic scenery.
Service is always friendly& efficient yet never intrusive. The attention to the details is astounding. In terms of service and dinner experience, the traditional Thai hospitality meets the French sophistication in details, such as refined cutlery, great wine list, as the GM is a French, island adopted for the last 13 yrs.
We did yoga, snorkeling, jogging along Ba Kan Tiang bay, took cooking classes with a nice Chiang Mai girl, took an island tour, including the Emerald Cave (amazing!!- we were lucky to be just the 2 of us, alone in the Cave)!

It was simply amazing!
