Pimalai was a haven for us amidst all the madness of that region. 5 star all the way. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite close to the beach. It's divided into two separate parts: on the hillside you have pool villas and the restaurant, on the lower side , the suites , spa, more
Restaurants and the beach! The beach is amazing, the pool amazing, the views stunning, the food amazing! Commentary hobie cats, lasers, surf boards. Loads of beach beds. Fresh water served all the time, and fruit!
We loved this place.

Thanks Na and all the wonderful friendly staff!!

We spent Xmas and the first 10 days of January at Pimalai. We'd been impressed by most TA reviews so were going with high expectations. When we arrived at Krabi, it was pouring down, with never-ending grey skies. Following a smooth transfer by private car then a speed boat transfer to the resort, also very well managed, we arrived at the resort. It was still grey and wet. However, neither of us could believe quite how breathtaking Pimalai was. The website photos do not do it justice.

It is a visual feast to behold!

The scenery is beautiful, the staff are very helpful and clearly customer service is key. We stayed in a bayfront deluxe villa so had a view of the sea and beach. Sunsets were amazing our balcony too. The room was comfortable, spacious, well equipped and always clean.

We used 2 of the 3 restaurants during our stay - Rice n Spicy and Rak Talay with a couple of light lunches from the pool bar (which were very tasty and good value). All meals were very good, well priced (despite other TA comments about the resort being over priced, we disagree with this view.) Yes, you can eat out cheaper outside of the resort but at what cost? Food poisoning! We heard of several that had eaten elsewhere and suffered with terrible tummy problems after. So, we paid slightly more for piece of mind and mainly because all food was excellent.

For others going in Xmas holidays, it's worth mentioning that Pimalai offers themed buffets on some evenings. We went to 6 and all offered a good choice catering to dietary needs with food being replenished in smaller amounts but more often - in other words, it was all fresh. This was good to see and you could eat as much as you wanted.

Breakfasts were impressive with a wide range of cuisine available and free speciality coffees included if caffeine is your thing. Again, dietary requirements are catered for.

The beach is private for guests of Pimalai and split into two areas - one busier with volley ball, water sports, groups of sunbeds, the other end catering for couples and those looking for peace and quiet. Staff bring iced water and fruit out throughout the day which is complimentary - again, service obviously being key. There are plenty of beach towels available and umbrellas and shade. The beach is clean and the sea calm so ideal for families.

Diving is available at the resort, is superbly organised and excellent value! Dive guides are knowledgeable with a limit of 4 divers per guide. They provide brilliant access to some of the best dive sites in the world. Very impressive!

All staff are courteous, helpful and can't do enough for you. Management is very visible and hands on, with the General Manager often seen chatting to holiday makers and all of his teams. Very accessible for those with a problem, query or comment which is refreshing for a 5 star resort.

Without any hesitation, this was our most enjoyable vacation, we would highly recommend and plan to return. And, it stopped raining, the sun came out and Pimalai looked even better!

Room Tip: Pimalai split into 2 halves - beach and hilltops. If you plan to be on the beach, go for a room in this half, if you're a pool person, opt for the hills. However, there is free golf buggy resort transport provided which gives you time to see more of the scenery!

Pimalai resort is perhaps the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen, let alone stayed at (OK, I have to confess I'm pretty new to 5 star resorts). Our Deluxe room came with a large seaview, thanks to our travel agent Andaman Sky Adventures, who also got us a good deal with their Beach Combing package, where we got free dinners and a spa session thrown in. The beach at Pimalai is stunning. The staff are very helpfull and smily, plus the service is quick and friendly. I feel so grateful to the staff at Pimalai for giving us such a nice deal, which is why I'm taking the time to tell people who are thinking of booking to do so straight away. The Seven Seas restaurant must be visited. The Spa is really good, there are a range of treatments and the setting is wonderful.

Pimalai a five star hotel on the side of a hill. We had a double house - two seperate but close bungalows, with all the amenities that come with a five star place. The most spectacular was the view over the Indian Ocean and the wonderful hilly landscape. We had a perfect location close to the beach and still we hd the privacy we wanted. There is a lot of walking involved if you want to - to see the whole resort, which is divided by a road, but it is possible to take a golf car. You just have to ask the very nice and acommodating staff. The restaurants are good, especially the beach restaurant. Breakfat is abundant. The posh restaurant, Seven Seas has a magnificent view, and a beautiful infinity pool. The food is good, but the price is a bit high. The staff is absolutely professional and probaly the most helpful I've ever come across at a hotel. A real treat!

Room Tip: We stayed in 301-302, which was great because it was close to the beach, and also close to the pool and the restaurants. Be clear whether you want to be near the beach, as the bungalows on the other side of the road have a long way to the beach.

We stayed here for 6 nights after a weeks stay in Phuket so the stay started with a nice young man from the Pimalai picking us up in a resort car from our Phuket hotel for the 3 hour drive to Krabi/Pimalai pier but they gave us cookies and bottles water for the journey and there are places to stop for a stretch if need be, it's a long journey but worth it when you get there.
Once at Krabi pier, there is then a 50 minute boat trip (PImalai's private speedboat), where again you are given drinks for the scenic journey. Arriving at the resort, the boat pulls up on the beach which is lovely and really makes you feel like your somewhere very exoctic!

We stayed in a deluxe room for the first 4 nights and then had a pool villa for the last 2. The deluxe rooms are lovely, good sized with decent storage and a lovely seperate bath and shower and resident Ghecko! There was also free bottled water brought to your room every day and you could ask for more if you needed it.
The pool Villas was stunning though, I can't describe how good it was, much larger with better amenities. However, it was the view whilst sitting in my own private pool that will stay with me forever and I hope that one day I can do it again.
If you like nature, then you will love this place. We had a creature of the day game going on as the first day there was a snake on one of the paths (much more scared of us!), the next it was a monitor lizard and we had monkeys too. Absolutely brilliant!
There are 2 pool areas, both are lovely with fruit kebabs and iced water brought around regularly and the staff were great and really look after you. The top pool area has the stunning views oer the bay and was also much less busy when we were there, the pizza's at this pool were also great for a midday snack (although the club sandwiches at the lower pool bar were also fab!).
There resort was very peaceful, the perfect antidote to our previous party week in Phuket, we did eat in the Rice N Spice restaurant one eveing which was very nice. We did eat in other little local restaurants on the other nights and these were also very good (apart from same same which is left from the hotel on the beach. They thought that they could vastly over charge us because we were staying at the Pimalai and that we wouldn't notice, not good and the food wasn't that great). However, turn right out of the hotel and there is the Why Not bar which is very laid back but also does lovely food next door, we had a couple of meals there and it was great.
We had a great time here, if you do go out on some trips, try to do the Emerald Cave, its lovely and the 4 island trip, this was worth it to find Nemo!
This is a great resort and I wouldn't hesitate tp recommend it!

Room Tip: If you can afford the little extra and were going to book a Deluxe room, then consider booking the Bayfront Deluxe. Its not that much more but you get loads more space as the bedroom is huge and they are also much closer to the beach. However, for that special treat, I cant recommend the pool villsa ebough, even if you just do one-two nights as part of a longer stay just to experience it, its worth every penny!
