My husband and I stayed here for four nights on our honeymoon,
First impressions were wonderful - very helpful staff at reception.
Rooms - very small and lacked natural daylight.
There is no where to store your suitcases/bags and one small wardrobe in the bathroom for your clothes - we didn't bother unpacking!
The concept of the rooms are great but the practicality is not so good. In theory, you could have two sides of your room open to provide natural light when relaxing which would provide views of the lovely gardens or beach depending on the location of your room but in reality, there are a lot of flies that you do not want buzzing around in your room. I noticed that some rooms have had large glass windows put in them to replace the doors - this looked great as you get the views, natural light but no bugs!
The house keeping staff came into the room every date - late afternoon to put the mosquito net down around the bed - great way to stop any unwanted bites but a nuisance if you need to get up to the loo at ngiht!
Mosquito / insect repellent an absolute necessity at this resort.
Having said that - there's a lovely sound of birds and wildlife in the mornings on waking. A nice personal feel to the hotel with only 22 rooms. A fabulous lounge area with great chilled out music playing and free WiFi. Also some lovely cocktails - ? unique to Costa Lanta I think as I've never heard of some of them before.
Good selection at breakfast.
New Years Eve Party - wow! Costa Lanta really know how to throw a party. Canapes, three course meal on the beach, free flow of drinks, DJ, fireworks, lanterns to release on the beach after midnight - the full works! 4500 bahts sounded expensive initially for a NYE party in Thailand but it was worth every baht!
Very helpful and friendly staff throughout the hotel.
I would recommend this hotel for lots of reasons but don't expect a spacious room and perhaps request a room with glass rather than the wooden doors.

We stayed here at the end of our month long honeymoon in South East Asia. We'd read mixed reviews and had stayed in some amazing places for the 3 weeks prior. But we trusted Mr & Mrs Smith so booked it for a week over Christmas and totally didn't regret it. If you like design and want to get away from the typical resort accommodation then this is for you. It's chilled but very cool yet totally not pretentious, it's tasteful and doesn't need a revamp at all (like other reviews stated). It's quiet and calm. The cabanas are so interesting and unique, comfy beds & great mozzy nets. The maid tends to the rooms twice a day so perfectly clean and tidy. Everyone who works there is so kind and friendly. The owner is hands on and always around to chat to. They arranged fantastic boat trips for us from the beach right outside the cabana. The pool is divine. The food at the restaurant is very nice & the specials change every day. The free wifi worked brilliantly everywhere - cabanas, the beach, pool, bar, restaurant etc. A few minor things would make it 5 star - brekkie could be much better, it was pretty standard. Make it child free - it's not overly appropriate for kids anyway and would make the adults who are there much happier :) and the washing line did leave a few rust marks on our swimmers. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone.

We had a great and relaxing stay at the Costa Lanta! It's really a quiet (in exception of the birds in the morning ;-) ) and lovely place between trees.

The hotel has some small bungalows in which you can hardly turn around. The bed room is really so small you can't put your luggage somewhere. We travelled with two backpack. One we had to unpack and stored all the clothes in the wardrobe in the bathroom. The other backpack we had to put on the floor in this small bedroom.

The other room is the bathroom with shower and toilette. Compared to the bedroom is the this room huge!

The breakfast is a little bit special. They provide a small variety of food at the buffet. Fruits, sticky rice, banana cake, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Further food can be ordered from the menu. Okay, you get really enough to eat, there is nothing to complain. But if you want to have some water, you had to pay extra...

All in all we enjoined our stay here very much! The staff is friendly and kind, the part of the beach in front of the hotel is that part with the least people. They also take care that no one who doesn't belong to the hotel in any way enters the hotel area.

Costa Lanta is an excellent hotel in a great environment. We stayed there for 8 nights.
Before we've booked we've heard that the food is good. Being interested in local food we told the staff after arrival that we want to try as many local dishes as possible. Every evening we got recommendations and everything was fantastic. One day we also bought lots of stuff at a local market, gave it to the chef and they used it for the meal.So if you are into food, go ahead. Rooms are nice and if you are lucky you can spot one of the monitor warans living on the premises. Great looking creatures, very shy and harmless.

We had lots of mosquitos in our room. It is kind of inevitable with their room design. It may of been a bad time to be there for mosquitos.

We felt we got gouged a little bit on the room price. It was our one splurge during our honeymoon but felt they hit us kind of hard for there being construction going on and for us to be the only people in the hotel at the time. The construction itself didn't really bother me all that much because we were always up early. However, the fact that the crew were chain-smoking cigarettes while we tried to eat our breakfast was kind of a nuisance. The highlight of this place was their dog Hugo, who is awesome! and their amazing staff. They always tried to go the extra mile to make sure we were happy. One of the women actually looked all over and found my phone after I thought it was lost and never to be seen again.

We tried to stay in this hotel for some nights, when we arrived they were still renewing part of the wooden floor around the dining area. You can imagine the noisy mess it meant, particularly when they sell quietness in a natural environment.
Besides, price was too high for the quality, moreover when other hotels in the island offer much more for a similar price.
Closeness to nature shouldn't mean, lack of investment in the hotel, poor maintenance, and lack of details (ie no TV in the rooms).
Last comment, their transport service from the airport was 6 times more expensive than a regular shuttle going from the island.
In conclusion, it's not a matter of taste, this hotel does not reach the level of quality it promises.
