Baan Rim Lay is a set of a few bungalows located directly on the beach. The place (it's hard to call it a resort) is ran by a very friendly family, who rather don't speak English, but are very happy and eager to talk to their guests anyway. The bungalows look pretty much like slums on the outside, however are pretty OK inside - they are kept very clean and are equipped with air con and fridge. The owner also runs a tourist information, where you can have your laundry done, rent a motorbike or book a boat or a bus.
The biggest drawback was the price for the quality we got - we booked online, so didn't really know what the place looked like in reality - otherwise we wouldn't have stayed here for that price - it was 6x more than much better looking bungalows next door (however they didn't have AC, but still, AC is not worth paying 6x more).
Also, the breakfast included in the price was very poor - standard toasts, butter and jam plus cold eggs, sausages and ham - we would expect them at least to be warm.
To sum up, this place is not very bad, but it's heavily overpriced.
