Travelled from Bangkok to Koh Lanta, discovered Ghrame's restaurant. Rest was history for the short time in Koh Lanta...Nothing at the Oasis is second best, locally sourced food, service, quality just the atmosphere and knowledge that a professional was in charge. Local knowledge, customs, do's and dont's all freely given, Sadly missed as travelled to Pucket, Oasis we will be back to see you, thanks for the sincere travel tips and best food in Thailand by an Irish mile....

When we were there, they seem to be specialise in sizzling dishes with much theatre as your food arrives with flames shooting up wards. Fortunately the food is as good as its arrival. We have had three evening meals here and my mouth waters as I write this report. The curries (red, yellow and massaman) are full of flavour and extremely tasty. One meal I tried was the squid with egg yolks which turned out to be boiled eggs. Different, but very nice all the same. Mixed fruit shakes are 1st class. Came here for a breakfast one morning and the banana pancake was one of the best I have ever had. Very friendly and helpful staff.

You can eat a lot of Curry dishes in Koh Lanta, but none made with as much attention to detail and flavor as in Sunset Oasis. Owned by a Scottish/Thai power couple that has a passion for cooking. Their expertise and love for all tasty things is transmitted to the dishes they serve; flavorful BBQs, hearty curries and light appetizers. As a foodie myself, I can appreciate a well written menu, perfectly descriptive, and great dishes to back it up. Graham, one of the owners, took the time to visit our table and answer my questions regarding our dishes...all down to the special spices used. He gave me detailed and passionate descriptions of the delicious curries (we ordered the Massaman Curry and the Red Curry) and shared with us some of the history of the Thai Cuisine. The dishes were delicious and well presented...filled with fresh spices and local veggies. Also, Sunset Oasis adds to the Koh Lanta beach experience without imposing on the land. The place is cozy and spacious and nestled in beautiful Klong Nin Beach. Give it a try for an afternoon beach-y lunch or for the perfect Sunset drinks and dinner. Don't leave Koh Lanta without trying a proper Thai meal at Sunset Oasis!

Lunch at Sunset Oasis was delicious and the ambiance was quite nice with the restaurant nestled right on the beach where we could hear the sound of the waves and watch fisherman just off the shore net small fish.

Our dishes were outstanding and full of nutritious vegetables. The presentation was also very nice. My massaman curry (my dish of choice when in Thailand along with Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice) was loaded with veggies and I liked being able to identify the whole spices used to bring out the flavor (just be sure not to eat these!).

The menu is very descriptive and we loved the history of the restaurant and that they make it a point to serve fresh and seasonal veggies in all their dishes that are sourced locally on the island.

The owner, Graham, made a point to come by our table to ensure that we enjoyed our food and to tell us more about Thai food in general. We learned a lot from him regarding the origin of certain dishes and what the differences between the various Thai curries are. He lives in Chiang Mai when not in Koh Lanta so he also wrote down some things for us to do and see when we head up to North Thailand later in our travels. Be sure to eat here if you find yourself on the island of Koh Lanta!
