I have mixed feelings when we stayed at Crown Lanta, especially given that we were charged 1 night extra for checking out early, on a non-prepaid booking.

We had high hopes after reading the reviews here, perhaps building too high of expectation.

We found a good deal because of low season prices, so we booked the pool villa, but was disappointed that the view was not what was expected. Make sure you book the ones facing the Phi Phi Islands, otherwise you will be disappointed.

The room was simple, clean, roomy and functional, but it lacked luxury and sophistication. Something we were looking for, after browsing the website.

If luxury is really what you are looking for, then you might be disappointed, like we were.

However, the service was great and the food was reasonably priced. They even provided in room breakfast without extra charge.

Because we found that Crown Lanta was not really what we were after, we changed our plans and moved to another resort, but was charged a 1 night cancellation fee, even though we did stay for one night. This is the first time I have been charged cancellation fee for checking out early, and I have stayed in over 100 hotels in the last 4 years. So you do need to keep that in mind when booking and make sure Crown Lanta is what you want.

Interesting would be the best word. The place looks very isolated i guess? but it worked for us having just come from Phuket which was party all the way. This would be the total opposite of that. We had a private pool room with a lovely view of the sunset and nearby islands. Pools could be slightly cleaner though, when in the room you just see no need to get out and the ambience is so lazy and cozy one would be content to just laze around all day. There isnt much around twn anyway. The service is good, buggy within 5mins of call, so it wasnt that bad. Room service staff are very determind to clean your room, which was quite amusing for me and my gf. Could have done a better job with the lounge chairs but pool i suppose not much they can do with the wind, trees, birds and bugs. Strong winds at night can be a bit startling. There was nearly no one there so you can just relax, everything is quite pricey within the hotel so I would recommand a nice little dining place in town but cant quite recall the name. Overall, the perfect retreat before returning to busy city life.
