We had travelled from the luxury hotel of Tower Club at Lebua to the Crown Lanta. Though a culture shock (my partner and I both live and work in London so Bangkok was more 'us') we found after settling in the Crown Lanta very comfortable and luxurious.
There are reviews out there stating it is basic... it is not. It is understated! We had our own private villa overlooking Phi Phi and though the weather was not the best, the whole experience was beautiful. Swimming pool was very nice, restuarant slightly over priced but hey... its a hotel!! The beach could have done with a tidy up but then we were travelling out of season. Staff were very charming and waited on us hand and foot... you barely need to walk anywhere within the resort as they escort you everywhere in their little taxi's. Very charming. Saladan was extremely quiet but good fun, go to the the restuarant next the the Baracuda bar. The staff are AMAZING! Especially the small smiley Thai lady who's name I have forgotten. Expect the odd black out but then you are on an island and try not to let the Tsunami warning signs everywhere scare you.
Good island, Great hotel, Great people and great beaches! Have fun... :-)More
