We stayed at the resort for 6 days in a room with direct pool access. The rooms were tidy, the service and food was good and the whole family (including small children and elderly) loved it. We would recommend it for anyone who whishes a quite and relaxed vacation in a beautiful location on the Lanta island.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was very nice. As it is the low season the place was peacefully quiet. You will need some form of transport to reach the resort as it is situated a distance away from Saladan. As we stayed near the swimming pool located on a plateau on a steep hill, we had to take the cart to and from the rooms. The rooms are clean and spacious and the staff attentive. Breakfast is served in a rooftop restaurant with lovely views of the surroundings.

Where to start? I have travel a lot in my life and have stayed in some of the best hotels (Ritz Carlton, W etc) and I have to say I was extremely impressed with this resort. This is one of the most amazing place I had the privilege to stay at.

We travelled through South East Asia for the entire month of July. For our last week, we intended to spend it in a beautiful, luxurious, secluded & calm environment however also wanted to be close to a town. We had originally booked for a private villa at a different place in Ko Lanta however upon arrival we were very disappointed with the place in general and there was no way we were going to stay there (I'll spare you the details!) We looked on Trip Advisor to find the best hotel in the area and everyone was raving about this one. THEY WERE RIGHT! All the positive comments you read about it is true.

The best part of this hotel is the level of service you will experience. I have worked in customer service for over 20 years and have rarely had such an experience anywhere! We were greeted at the front desk by Aing and Eye as we got there and they went out of their way to reassure us (after the experience we had just gone through at the other place) and right away we felt like the entire situation was turned around and we were going to have a fabulous vacation there. The restaurant is really nice with a beautiful view and the food is excellent. But & Tek, the managers, will make you feel like you're the most important person in the world! Try the pancakes, they're delicious!

You will enjoy the evenings at the Reggae bar at the beach and the incredible view. Mister A & everyone see working there make tasty cocktails and are super friendly.

We will definitely go back there again soon...

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the ground floor room with direct access to the private pool. It was incredible...

Thank you Etienne, for your wonderful review! We are honored to have provided you with a luxurious and relaxing end to your month-long journey in SEA. We do pride ourselves on providing exceptional service and thank you for the compliment. I will pass along your positive praise to Aing, Eye, But, Tek and Mr. A. The pancakes are delish, order them Mickey Mouse style and magically the pancakes are so much more enjoyable! I always recommend this for the kids! Sunsets are stunning from Crown Reggae and the pure ambiance of our reggae bar cannot be found anywhere else on this island! Thank you for your recommendations and positive feedback, we appreciate your patronage very much! We hope to host you for another unforgettable holiday in the future. Please don't forget to email us, so we can arrange a special return guest gift for you!

I stayed here 4 nights and enjoyed my stay. It is a nice resort but not 4.5 star - more like a 4 star. The rooms were fantastic, and swimming pools were great, but the quality of food was disappointing for a resort - nicely presented but inconsistent quality, and I did not get exactly what I ordered all the time - breakfast was very good! But better to eat other meals outside of the resort. Good to be able to hire a motorcycle at the resort but it is more expensive, and the travel desk staff weren't too enthusiastic about their job - probably because of it being a bit slow in the low season, but for a resort, I expect better service than what they supplied. Other staff were always friendly and positive but they did drift off a bit at the poolside restaurant on a couple of occasions, and left me unattended for too long.....the resort could really benefit from an on-site deli or shop that offers other fresh food options. All in all, I enjoyed my stay here, and it was very comfortable! A good place to relax and unwind (the spa was nice as well).

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback. We are sorry to hear we missed the bar on consistent food quality and order accuracy, but are pleased to know you enjoyed our beloved breakfast buffet. Motorcycle rental direct from the Tour Desk is about 100 baht (appx 3 USD) more per day than you'd pay outside, but that is off-set with the convenience of not having to hire a tuk tuk which runs about 50 baht per person to drive you to the cheaper rental shop. We are aware of the lacking customer service at the Tour Desk and a solution is in process. We regret to hear that the pool bar staff left you unattended for too long, and will relay your feedback to the appropriate department manager so staff are more aware and attentive to guests needs. Concerning a "deli" of sorts, we plan to launch this amenity coming as early as October for the start of our High Season!!! We are delighted to hear your overall experience was comfortable and enjoyable. Relaxation is an easy thing to achieve when you stay with us and we are honored to have hosted you. We appreciate your patronage and thank you for your review.

We chose Ko Lanta for a chillax week off before we began the more difficult-seeming travel of our summer trip. Having had to cancel another hotel when their pool went off-line for repairs, we stumbled upon Crown Lanta on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a try. I suspect the rates were lower than they'd been when I initially booked the trip because the coup had just taken place and travelers may have been avoiding Thailand. We would have, too, but my travel insurance didn't cover "civil unrest" so we decided to at least try it.

We wound up with a room above the rooms that had access to the pool. It was lovely and clean and had a deck overlooking the pool and beautiful grounds. But sadly, it did not have a sea view. The next day we asked to move down to the pool access rooms so at least we'd have that. Unfortunately, they were to be occupied by a group or conference or something that weekend and were unavailable the whole week. The wonderful manager was determined to make us happy, however, and sent us around with a staff member and cart/driver to look at the other options. We would not have chosen a villa but we wound up "upgrading" at a reasonable rate to one of the villas overlooking the private sandy beach. It had its own infinity pool to my daughter's delight. The villa was a stand alone building, with a complete livingroom, bedroom with a king bed and glass doors also toward the view. Since this was also our jet-lag week, having a separate room was a bonus when our night-wakings didn't coincide. The pool was amazing, cool and clean and a welcome relaxation after a day of elephant riding or Saladan shopping or whatnot. The bathroom of the villa was about the size of the bedroom, with a pass-through closet, a table, and a rain shower above a large soaking tub. The tub was a bit awkward, especially for an 11 year old, to climb in and out to take a shower, but that was a small thing.

Most of the other reviewers have mentioned the staff and I will too. Just fantastic service from the airport-meet to the van driver, the front desk, the manager, the breakfast staff and the folks driving the little golf carts up and over the hills. It was off season and coup-time so maybe that had something to do with it but we felt hugely pampered.

We arrived after 31 hours of travel and a delayed flight from Bangkok. It was evening and we were beyond tired. But a young woman who checked us in popped us onto a golf cart and rode with us to the building, walking us to the room, and helping us inside with our luggage following behind. When she opened the sliders to the deck, I exclaimed, "oh!" because there was a huge Thai beetle sort of bug sitting there looking like a mouse and just about that size. She didn't even blink but said, "oh they're harmless" and scooped it up gently in her hand. Then, this young woman excused herself to go out the front door and put the big beetle outside. For some reason, maybe because we were so exhausted and felt a bit like we'd landed on Mars, in the humid dark, this kind and gentle act moved me.

We saw those same bugs as well as many others on the rest of the trip so that little guy's presence on the deck was simply normal. We also saw a monitor lizard, looking like a mini crocodile, strolling through the vegetation on the side of the villa.

The breakfast was fantastic and included loads of Thai and other Asian foods, had a pancake - waffle station, a smoothie station, a choose-your-own noodles and let the chef make them station, eggs, bacon, and other things for the grill station, and huge quantities of gorgeous fruits including a personal favorite, mangosteen. The breakfast was one of the best we experienced on this summer's six week and 10 hotel trip.

The small private beach was sandy and very close to the pool and poolside cafe, just down the equivalent of perhaps 1.5 flights of stairs. This time of year it was quite windblown and the sea trash, bottles and other garbage, wasn't cleaned up when we walked the beach. There were no beach chairs or umbrellas or other amenities and we didn't ask for any. It may have been the time of year. No one else seemed to use the beach either though one couple seemed to check the tide pools daily (we could see them from our villa!)

The only minus for us was the tour desk. The woman seemed disengaged and irritated at our requests, naysaying each of them. Perhaps it was the time of year and the high seas, but the attitude was still unpleasant. Of the four or five excursions we requested she only managed one, riding an elephant, and instead of going to the area near the national park as we had asked and she had promised, the overpriced driver took us to a roadside place about 4 minutes away. In the end we enjoyed the elephant and her keeper quite a lot, but were still disappointed to have missed the other part of the island in that way. As we continued on our trip we encountered all manner of helpful and cranky tour desk operators. Perhaps this one seemed particularly sour as compared to the hotel staff. As she wasn't a hotel employee, I'm not deducting a star, but otherwise I might be inclined to.

Room Tip: (1) Splurge on a private villa with a pool. (2) choose a room that faces the main pool on the first...

Thanks a million for your positive review! If Koh Lanta could be described in one word, it would be "chillax" indeed! Our staff is always eager fulfill the requests of the guests as to ensure your comfort and satisfaction. We are pleased to hear that you (and your daughter!) were happy with your upgrade to an ocean private pool villa. Thai people are known for their gentle and kind manner, and we are delighted that you experienced this with our staff first hand. As for the monitors...they move lazily about, uninterested in people, although very visible on our island headland. Sometimes, it can feel like you're the middle of a National Geographic shoot when you get the random opportunity to observe exotic creatures and amazing wildlife at seemingly close proximity! Our breakfast buffet is absolutely a guest favorite; it's a great way to start your day and you definitely won't go hungry! We regret to hear you witnessed our private beach in less-than-appealing condition. Unfortunately when tide is high, trash and other debris get deposited onto all beaches of Koh Lanta and on rare occasion our pool and beach staff is unable to perform the removal and cleaning before our guests arrive to the area. Sometimes "Green Season" monsoon weather patterns can create high surf and even higher tide which makes placement of sun chairs, umbrellas, etc. at our private beach nearly impossible during this time of year. Thank you very much for your feedback and not deducting a star, as they are not part of the Crown Lanta team. Please be assured we are working to improve the quality of customer service provided by the tour desk and we are very sorry to hear that your experience with the Tour Desk was unpleasant and that ultimately you were disappointed with the tour quality. We greatly appreciate your patronage and feedback and we hope to see you again in the future if you ever feel the need to "chillax" in Thailand!

From what we saw, this is clearly the best hotel in the area (Saladan).
The weather wasn't great, (very windy) so the beaches didn't look inviting, but I'm sure they would be in better conditions.
We visited in the green season so the resort was very quiet.
The staff were outstanding, not in your face, but always available, very friendly and helpful. We were met at reception on checking in by Nine, who looked after us for the rest of our stay.
In saying that, the lady at the tour desk, probably missed a few classes on how to interact with guests. She wasn't rude, but compared to the other staff, she was lacking.
The resort grounds were beautiful and the gardens, walkways and pool areas were well maintained.
We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the Grand Villa, which had a huge pool, but we did visit the main pool on occasions. Again, even tho there were few guests around, it was very clean and well looked after.
The rooms were fantastic, well appointed and very comfortable. The cleaning staff were very friendly, courteous and efficient.
The main restaurant where the breakfast buffet is served is at the top of a "hill" with the resort rooms in the "valleys" so walking up to breakfast could be quite a chore for elderly or frail. The resort did have a shuttle which was almost always available, so I'm sure it could be arranged to fetch people from their room, if needed. It's a very short walk, but quite steep.
The breakfasts were great, and even tho we stayed there for 5 nights, we were never bored. Thai & western breakfasts were available.Pancakes/waffles and eggs were made-to-order, so were always fresh and tasty.
We hired scooters from the front desk & scootered happily around the village and even took a ride to Old Lanta Town.
We ordered room service dinners on two nights, which were delivered promptly and were above our expectations.
The prices of the goodies in the minibars were very competitive with what you could get at the 7/11, which was surprising. (Can of beer was only 50B)
I would recommend this resort to anyone intending to stay on Koh Lanta.

Room Tip: A room with it's own pool, so that you could swim outside of the main pool hours

Many thanks for sharing your thoughts on our TripAdvisor page! I must agree that we are indeed the best resort in the Saladan area, and we appreciate the great compliment! During our "Green Season" wind and storms can create some pretty big surf on our beach, but I assure you it's a night and day difference with less wind and stormy weather. We are aware of comments about the tour desk staff lacking in service; that being said they are not staffed by our employees and we are working to find a resolution. We do appreciate this feedback, as we can improve the service provided at our resort based on the comments and suggestions of our guests. We are delighted to hear that you were happy with all aspects of our resort from the service, to the upgraded room, the food and beverage service and beyond. Because there is not a minimart currently on-site, it's only fair that we offer our minibar at prices comparable to local minimarts. We appreciate your patronage and feedback very much and thank you for the recommendation. We invite you to stay with us again should you return to Koh Lanta in the future!

During our first stay here, we fell in love with the resort due to it being just like paradise...
Then we decided that, if we were ever going to get married in Thailand, we would go for a wedding at Crown Lanta.
This February we went here again, and this time for our Thai buddist blessing wedding ceremony. The entire stay of a week was more than amazing! Not only because of our wedding here, but of everything the resort has to offer.

Rooms:
First stay was in a Holiday Deluxe Gazebo room with view over the lower swimming pool. We loved this room, even though it is the "cheapest" room the resort has to offer. The room is spacious, the bathroom well amended, ad the balcony perfect for relaxing and reading while the entire resort is waking up.

This year, as a surprise, my husband arranged for a stay in the Elegance Deluxe Room, and the hotel arranged it to be one of the rooms with sea view. The view was gorgeous, the room was perfect (even for 2 adults and a baby with special baby cot), and the shower was so spacious that our little one used it to play around when taking a shower. The balcony was even bigger than the ones of the Gazebo Deluxe rooms, and were perfect for a stay while our little one was taking a nap in the afternoon.

Because we booked a wedding package, we got an upgrade to a suite (Ocean Private Pool Villa) for one night. Arriving at this room on the morning of our wedding, we were in complete shock of how grand and gorgeous this suite is. With a nice jacuzzi, outdoor shower, private pool, sitting area that can be closed off from the sleeping room, and a breathtaking view, this is just the best...
Too bad we only had so little time in this room, due to the wedding day and having to remove to our "normal" room the morning after already. Would have loved to stay here a night longer and have the time to fully enjoy the luxury of the room.

Facilities and services:
When arriving at the resort, you immediately feel like you are in paradise. One of the owners also told us this is exactly what they aim for. For us, it feels like coming home. You immediately feel at ease, your holiday has really started now, perfect time to unwind and relax.
There is a little children's playground (our little one did make use of it, as it is just too warm), 2 swimming pools, a poolbar where they have a daily happy hour and serve nice cocktails, a private rocky beach, access to the sandy Klong Dao Beach, a Spa, a reggae bar where you can enjoy the nights, and a restaurant where excellent food is being served.

If you are doubting wether to have dinner in the resort, go for it. The quality of the food is amazing and definitely worth paying a bit more for than when you go into town. We really liked the organized BBQ dinner and just kept on eating. Also the wine menu offers a good selection of nice wines.
Breakfast is being served in another restaurant with an amazing view. It used to be a continental breakfast, but more and more Thai and Asian dishes are being added (good thing!) such as noodle soup and even sushi. Only thing I missed this year, was the relaxing music that was being played the first time we were here. Now it appeared to be Thai, but before it was more relaxing/meditation/new age kind of music. In my opinion that suited the restaurant with its stunning view and early morning tranquility better.

During the second stay here, we were treated as if we were the only couple getting married here in a really long time (even though this is not the case) and felt really special. The staff was always willing to help us, make sure that everything was well taken care of for our wedding and entire stay here, and were so friendly. Thank you Richard, Kannika, Run and the rest of the crew! You made our stay even more memorable!

Location:
Not in the "city centre" of Sala Dan, but located on a peninsula. This makes the resort located a bit away from all bustling and the restaurants. The public beach is just a few hundred meters away and can be accessed directly via the hotel. At the beach there are some other restaurants where you can go for a lunch or drink. At night we used to get a tuktuk into town. Only too bad that the prices they ask are quite high compared to prices in the rest of Thailand. Only on the last day of our stay, we found out that the resort offers transfers to the centre at multiple times a day...

Wedding day:
Where to start?! Our day was amazing and we couldn't be more happy with our choice for Crown Lanta. We got so much help from all the crew. When getting dressed, all of a sudden there were two female staff members helping with whatever they could help with. Walking down to the private beach where the ceremony would take place, they were helping with my dress, taking pictures, and so on. During the ceremony, one crew member would explain us what we needed to do (as the monks were chanting and speaking in Thai). The setup of the ceremony location was awesome with lots of flowers. The cake was delicious and we even had a glass of nice sparkling wine. A few days later we had our wedding package dinner, which was setup at the beach. The food was so delicious, but way too much for just 2 persons :-)

Again, thanks to the entire crew for the amazing stay at your resort! All in all it was a dream come true!
