stayed here for 4 nights after looking around for somewhere to stay with AC.
paid just 600 baht a night for an AC-room, although the AC-rooms is about 200-400 metres up from the beach compared to the fan-rooms that are about 50-100 metres from the beach it didn't feel that long walk.
Don't know if they cleaned our bungalow during our 4 nights but I would guess as they didn't even ask how long we were staying in the bungalows.
but for the price paid (600 baht) so can't really complain although look elsewhere for luxury and service :)

one of my favorite places to stay in thailand, hands down. not fancy, but has everything you need (ie. bed, aircon, fridge, toilet, shower, little verandah) at anything from $15-$35 a night. what makes this place fantastic is the beach and restaurant.
you can sit with your feet in the sand, watch the kids play in the warm, calm ocean, drink margaritas, have a massage and order dish after dish of fabulous food. hubby is a chef (and hard to please) and he loves it. if you want more action, walk up the beach a couple of spots and there is a bit of doof doof music. a spot or two away a reggae bar. more great restaurants up and down this stretch of beach and the overall atmosphere is relaxing and lovely.
the bungalows aren't fancy at all - but i would rather stay here and spend my $$ on great food, massages and drinks than in any upmarket hotel.

Great stretch of beach a short walk away.
So so restaurant. Bungalow rather dirty.
Old but comfy bed. Ask for a top sheet.
Price is right. You get what you pay for.

We stayed here for six nights in February 2012. We'd not booked ahead so, after arriving at Long Beach, we dumped our bags at one of the restaurants, and went in search of a place to stay. We viewed about 3 or 4 places on Long Beach. February is a busy time so not all places were available, but of those that were this seemed to offer the best value. We paid 700baht per night for a bungalow/ hut about 50m from the beachfront. The hut had double bed, a/c, bathroom and shower. We were even able to get the wifi from the place next door (Somewhere Else) in our room.

On Ko Lanta, staying so close to the beach with all its bars and restaurants etc isn't really a problem. We didn't experience any issues with noise late at night. Most of the people on the island seem to be older couples (over 30 at least) and young families. If you're looking for parties head to Phi Phi, but if you want some nice quiet relaxation time on the beach with okay food then stay on Ko Lanta.

Some food tips: Most restaurants tone down the spiciness levels here so ask for a bit more heat if you like it that way. Seafood is generally good here and the on-beach BBQs are worth trying, just avoid the unnecessary sauces. For a great bakery selling all kinds of German baked goods, try the place on the road back into town, about half way along.

Room Tip: It's worth paying a hundred baht or so more for a room near the beach. Some of the other huts ar...

I'm hoping this is the right Funky Fish! I can't believe I'm the first reviewer since this place was such a find/bargain! We switched to a beach bungalow here after spending a few nights at another hotel that wasn’t on the beach, and ended up staying for 4 nights. Loved it! We had a small, simple bungalow for 500 baht a night (they also have garden bungalows but I didn't look at those so not sure about them). We had a large room with a double bed, A/C, bathroom, small porch area, and screened windows. Free wifi, but only accessible in the restaurant area (which was fine with us since that’s where we spent most of our time). Great value – online the prices were quoted higher so I’d recommend going there in person to negotiate. Presumably they fluctuate based on the season, the demand for rooms, etc.

Location is perfect, Funky Fish is right on Long Beach and our bungalow was just steps away from the restaurant area which is directly on the beach. The restaurant is delicious…we had breakfast there every morning (yummy banana pancakes, eggs, etc.) and often had lunch and dinner there as well, even though there are many restaurants on the beach if you want some diversity. There are tables as well as wooden platforms with comfy pillows that you can lounge on/eat on as well as beach chairs and umbrellas out front for your use. There is also a massage place next to the restaurant where you can get a great Thai massage (or other kinds) while watching the waves.

Staff is friendly and helpful, the place seemed to attract a diversity of people…looked like mainly couples and families but it’s always hard to tell. It’s not a party place, but a nice place to have beer (or big glasses of wine like I did) and watch the sunset. Also can rent motorbikes, arrange onward travel, etc. from the helpful travel desk there. All in all, great value and a relaxing beachy atmosphere.
