We had a lovely stay, the room was spacious very clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and go out of their way to assist wherever possible. If we are ever back in the area we shall certainly return to the Mermaid.

A small and clean nice hotel with friendly staff, lovely rooms and perfect breakfast. 3 min. walk to the beach and not very far from Saladan. (shopping etc.) Next time in Koh Lanta we are coming back to this lovely hotel for sure. Thank you Chai and all others :)

Room Tip: I think that the rooms on the back side are quieter because the road is in front off the hotel.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Lanta Mermaid Boutique House for an extended period, five months in all.
Chai, Bow, Winnie and the rest of the staff are very welcoming and cannot do enough to make your stay memorable. Nothing is too much trouble.
We had a Deluxe room at the front of the hotel, with a larger room and a balcony overlooking the main road. This however can occasionally be noisy at some times of the day, mainly 'rush hour' but you get used to it very quickly. The smaller probably quieter rooms overlook the rear, but the greater space is worth the slight inconvenience to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. Opposite is the lane leading down to the quiet sandy beach, approx. 100 metres with small bars (Deep Sea) and beach restaurant (Bamboo).
A tray is provided, replenished daily, with tea, coffee & creamer together with 2 bottles of water. For additional items there are a few nearby shops.
The nearest town of Saladan with a variety of shops, supermarket, clothing and souvenirs is approx. 3 kilometres and is easily reached by Tuk Tuk in 5 - 10 minutes or walking 25 minutes.
Nearby restaurants 'Dan Tai' and 'The Kitchen' are both excellent and a warm welcome awaits.
Daily boat trips and excursions, car or motorbike hire etc. can be arranged at reception as can flights, etc.
Overall a superb place to stay, whether for a longer holiday or a short stay.

Room Tip: DeLuxe room and bathroom are more spacious.

We stayed here for 2 nights and had an excellent time in this hotel. One of the better hotels we stayed in Thailand. The staff were extremely friendly and helpfull, they offer you all help they can. Comfortable, nice and clean rooms for the price we paid. The breakfast was good and plenty. The hotel is not immmediately next to the beach, but at walking distance. A pitty we couldn't extend the stay in our cosy room, because the rooms were all booked.

extrem friendly staff, lovely rooms, perfect breakfast, and the road in between on the way to the beach I even didn't hear though my room was facing the road.
Next time lanta, for sure this hotel! and that the hotel does not have a pool or a fitness didn't matter me

Room Tip: to the mountain might be more quiet.

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights in total after finding it on TA in a last minute rush to secure some accommodation. I don't think I could be happier with what we discovered! Very friendly staff who always have time to talk and help with any requests you may have. After travelling for over three months this was the cleanest place we have stayed in. The hotel felt safe and I really liked that you don't wear foot wear once inside the hotel. Breakfast was just what we wanted great selection and even had green tea! And even went out of their way to buy more to keep guests happy. I appreciate everyone has different expectations and this hotel may not suit everyone but for my girlfriend and I couldn't have ask for a better place to stay and the free wi fi was great. The beach is very close just a short stroll across the road and there are plenty of resturants around to cater for all cruisines and places to sit back and watch the stunning sunsets with a drink in hand. I rarely write a review but staying at Lanta Mermaid Boutique House was well worth a mention.

I can't understand the great reviews that this place gets or who is writing them. We stayed here at the end of a 9 month round-the-world trip and decided to splash out for what sounded like a lovely hotel and number 1 on TA. We didn't enjoy our stay here at all.
On the positive side - rooms are clean, breakfast is good and location is handy for the beach and for ban saladan.
On the other hand:
- On arrival we were handed a laminated sheet with a list of "rules" and asked for a credit card for €100 deposit in case of damages. This was one of the only places in 9 months of travel that we had to have money held on our card. The frustrating thing was when leaving I asked how soon the hold would be removed and was told 2 weeks from the date of arrival!! This is totally unacceptable as a hold on a card can be cancelled within 48 hours if the hotel ring the bank (which I requested they do).
- Internet slow and cuts out in the room - to the point where it was unusable. Worst Internet anywhere we stayed in Asia and we were paying twice the price for a room here. There are 2 computers at reception for guests use and the Internet here is ok.
- No remote control for the air-con and it is positioned in the room so it blows directly onto the bed with no option to change the angle of airflow. Cheaper hotels always provided remote controls.
- Old large cumbersome tv with very limited tv channels - again far less than in cheaper hotels.
- Quoted us higher prices for onward travel and motorbike rental than any other travel agents.
- One day we were having a sleep in and were phoned by the owner and told to leave the room so the cleaner could come in. No "do not disturb" sign is provided in the room.
- The room cleaners moved our things around the room and we had difficulty finding stuff after they had been in. This has never happened us in other hotels.
- For the price you would expect a pool.

Overall - bad value, unfriendly staff, poor amenities. Our friends stayed in a cheaper place down the road and had a much more satisfying experience.
