“The best place we stayed at whilst in Thailand”

When you arrive the first thing you will notice is how friendly the staff are and how beautiful Lalanta is. June made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped out of the jeep and until we got back in to leave. The infinity pool is lovely but the whole stretch of beach is and is a great place to enjoy spectacular sunsets. The staff are very friendly and accomodating, we stayed in a Horizon Gaze villa, air conditioning, fridge, hot showers and a huge comfortable bed helped make our stay absolutely perfect.

Lalanta gives you free transfers, free kayaking and free wifi - all things that we had to pay for elsewhere. It is a resort that has been thoughtfully created with relaxation and comfort in mind and is very difficult to leave!

The food is very good, the smoothies are amazing!! We have been craving a Mango Medley ever since we left. To top it all off, evenings spent chatting to Patrick and the other guests at the bar made us feel like we were on holiday with friends and we definitely plan to go back.

We stayed at La Laanta for 12 nights in April. We decided on this resort , having read all the rave reviews on TA. We were not disappointed. The beach is beautiful and provides a spectacular vista with the green rain forest as a backdrop. The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming. Our bungalow was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The food was great and the cocktails that Mackey made for us every night were ‘to die for’. However, as per previous reviews , what makes this resort special is the people that run it. Patrick, June, Tony and Kong were the perfect hosts. They really know how to look after their guests and are very attentive to all your needs. My one reservation when booking La Laanta was that it might be too remote and quiet for 12 nights, but we hired motorbikes and toured the island for a couple of days , went snorkelling to Koh Rok [ a must do] and went on walks to the National Marine park and to the other nearby beaches. We never felt the need to go anywhere else in the evening, as the restaurant food was great and the ambiance created by Patrick and Mackey along with our fellow tourists was all we needed. We had a wonderful evening to celebrate the Thai New Year [Songkran]. The owners provided a free barbecue with every type of seafood you could think of. As is the tradition for Songkran we were invited to join in the ‘water fights’ with all the Thai people, down from Bangkok for the New Year’s celebration. We all ended up at the end of the evening , in the swimming pool fully clothed being served drinks by Mackay.
To summarize If you want a resort for night clubbing / shopping stay away . La Laanta is perfect if you want a peaceful, relaxing, entertaining holiday with a bit of adventure thrown in. We wil definitely be back.

from the minute we arrived the outside world ceased to exist!! in the 10 days there we never put a pair of shoes on! it was total chill out and relaxation and the day consisted of lying on the beach, swinging in the hammocks and lying horizontal in the lovers chairs in the bar!! the staff were amazing and could not do enough to make you feel comfortable, it was like staying in a private house! Macky the bar man has to be the best in the world with a smile that lights the place up!! the rooms were perfect ,most having views of the sea!! the beach was beautiful and clean and the sea clear!! perfect for a bit of skinny dipping up the quiet end of the beach in the sunset!! and what sunsets!! watched nightly with one of macky's cocktails in hand!! there are several small chill out beach bars 100 m up the beach if one requires a change of view and a thai lady who does amazing massages while you gaze at the view but apart from that the beach is yours for the day!! i would love to revisit one day and am sure would be welcomed like old friends!! i hope the ethos of the place never changes!! please go experience for yourselves but dont tell too many people!! its a well kept secret!!!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we had a great time. The food was AMAZING. The smoothies are the best I've ever had. Plus, the staff couldn't be nicer. The rooms were nice but we did have cold/warm showers. Also, they do not have satellite TV but they have plenty of DVDs for free that you can watch. The private beach is so secluded and beautiful. They have kayaks for exercise and a great pool. They will also pick you up from the Pier and drop you off at the end of the stay, which was a savings of $20 each way, which is what we would have had to pay if we took taxis. It is VERY remote (there's a least a mile of dirt road to get there) but it's worth it to relax and be in the middle of nowhere. We loved it and would go back in a second! Plus, there's WIFI around the resort and three free computers to use whenever you want!

My boyfriend and I stayed in Lalaanta at the end of November 08. It seemed like everything was going wrong for our holiday. Rob's bags went missing between flights, and then a couple of days later Bangkok airport was taken over which meant we had to cancel our plans to travel there for a few days. Luckily we had brought a laptop and could check on the progress frequently due to the free wifi provided by the resort. Also we had full signal on our mobile phones too.
However, regardless of the mishaps, our stay in Lalaanta was all we had hoped for. We decided to get picked up from the airport by the hotel. The trip to the resort was on two car ferry's but the driver came prepared with a very spacious people carrier and dvd's to watch in the car which was great and really helped pass the time while driving.
As soon as we arrived we were made feel very welcome and the staff were very supportive. June was a great help with our bag situation and offered to get a car to bring Rob shopping for clothes. The staff, especially June and Patrick, were all very laid back and were really interested in getting to know their guests which is a very rare thing these days and adds to the whole experience in Lalaanta.
Patrick was really everything you could want from a host. He was very helpful during our email exchanges before the trip and treated us so well when we got there, it was like we had known him all our lives!
We stayed in the Sunset Splendour Villa which we loved. I especially loved the design of the bathroom! The layout of the whole place was amazing and we would frequently see monkeys hanging out of the trees on the beach. The beach was perfect and secluded with lush greenery and beautiful pink flowers decorating the edges. The resort was perfectly designed to blend into the surrounding jungle and the scenery was beautiful. It was so relaxing to just float in the sea and gaze up at the mist settling on the green mountains behind the resort.
There are free kayaks and lifejackets which you can borrow to explore the sea. June was on hand to help arrange any sightseeing trips and they had a selection of flyers with different excursions available at her desk. We went scuba diving, snorkelling and were brought to the most amazing beach I have ever seen where the sand was like white powder and we saw monitor lizards roaming around.
The food was lovely, I especially like the BBQ fish they had on one night. On our last night there was a young girl who came to put on a fire show for the guests and she was unbeliveable. Some of the male staff members tried their hands the fire display but they were nothing on this girl!
We were looking for a holiday where we could relax, catch up on some reading, sleep and chill. This trip was perfect and we were well looked after. We hope to travel back there some day with our young son because he would have loved chasing the little crabs which run along the beach!
Thank you so much to everyone in Lalaanta for making us feel so welcome

Me and my family with two young kids (a 5 months and a 2year old) stayed 10 days at La Laanta in the beginning of January 2009. We're happy to recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a relaxing stay. If u are a party animal, maybe this is not the best place to stay.

First of all, thank u Patrick for helping us finding our sons teddy bear that we forgot. And also to find a Swedish traveller that could bring it back to Sweden so that our son now can go to sleep without missing his favourite. That's what I call service!

Back to LaLaanta. Even if it was fully booked and the staff had been really busy with guests over x-mas an new year we felt very well taken care off. First a big private car picked us up at the air port and the driver served us with both snacks and DVDs for the kids. The trip from Krabi air port takes a few hours so be prepared if u go with children.
At the arrival we were greeted by lovely friendly staff in a very relaxed and informal athmosphere. We stayed at one of the Horizon Gaze Villas and it was perfect for our family. Easily fitted a baby cot too.

The beach is just perfect and since LaLaanta is the last resort b4 the national park it was less tourists and hardly any beach vendors than u r used to see. The water was crystal clear and clean.

The food was good, (we've been living in Asia for 3 yrs so kid of picky) but maybe a bit too adjusted to please Europeans, not so spicy that means. We also tried the next door neighbours resturants and if u stay for a longer time it's a good alternetive to get som variation. And u don´t get ruined by eating at La Laanta - if the owners wanted to, they could have squeeze every penny of u, but they don't.

LaLaanta is a quiet place and moste of the guests that we met were couples, quite a few on their honney moon. I guess our family made some noice and some guests were a bit annoyed with the two year old running around, but the staff was just great with him.
They also helped us out when we needed to go to the hospital for a check up, no problems fixing transport and a driver.

Since both me and my husband likes jogging we went out early mornings for some run and u can find a track wherever u want, hardly any traffic and u met some monkeys and elephants. But it's almost too hot in January to be jogging.

Ok, now u go and try this place out!

The LaLaanta was just unbelievable! Found after nights and nights of research on the web, it turned out to be the best we could have found in Thailand!

The bay in the south of Koh Lanta is quiet yet everything can be reach quickly with a scooter that can be rented in the resort. And for boat trips or such, just talk to June and the boat will pick you up right on the beach.
The little houses (every party gets their own, no one disturbing you in any staircases) are decorated to tastefully, it is just a pleasure to stay there!

But the best part are the people! Patrick, June and Tony make this place truely the paradise you came looking for when going on a vacation in Thailand!

Thank you so much and hope to return soon!
