Lovely location with very attentive staff. The beach and the sea are great with plenty of loungers in either the sun or shade. Food was good and service excellent. Bungalow was nice but some of the décor was a little tired. Comfortable mattress but on a wooden platform so it did feel rather hard. Lacked space to store clothes. Chairs on the veranda were very comfortable and the whole site very clean. It is rather remote so you cannot pop out to a shop but this was not a problem for us as we just wanted a quiet few days by the beach.

This place was just pure bliss. We stayed here for lmost a week, then spent a spell in Ao Nang at the Cha Wan hotel, then finished up at the U Sunsuri, the whole trip with transfers and excursions booked through Andaman Sky - great holiday, with the build-up to the last most posh place being just perfect, we started off seriously chilled out here at the LaLaanta getting rid of the city stress, then moved on to the more up-tempo Ao Nang, then finished up with somewhere more upmarket on Phuket.

The LaLaanta is a great place to start your holiday, real chill-out zone, we took a trip during our time here to Koh Rok to go snorkeling, which was the best daytrip we took on this holiday. The food and rooms are great at the LaLaanta but the thing that sets this place apart is the staff, they are just soooo friendly, it’s difficult to believe it’s all sincere but I choose to do so. The food is actually a highlight here, has to be as the place is really pretty remote, but if all you want is to reacquaint yourself with your significant other in an atmosphere that is really romantic and comfortable plus offers great beach scenery and swimming, then the LaLaanta is a good choice.

We arrived on the 19th December 2013 for an 8 day relax after travelling around Thailand for 2 weeks. Lalaanta Hideaway exceeded our expectations in every way. We knew from previous reviews that it would be good and that it should be right for us, but it could not have been better. The position is perfect if you prefer a quieter area, although nothing is too far away. The accommodation was perfect, very comfortable and a good size. The beach is stunning and the surrounding area is beautiful. We had all of our meals at Lalaanta's Castaway Restaurant as the food was excellent. As for the staff, they absolutely were the icing on the cake. Great characters and personalities.
We will definitely return.

We just returned from our belated (one year later) honeymoon at La Laanta Hideaway and we could not have had a better time! It takes a bit of effort to get here, but it's well worth it. The road down to the resort is a rutted dirt road past chicken coops and laundry lines, but when you arrive at the resort, you will feel like you've arrived at your own tropical paradise. All of the rooms are individual bungalows and we stayed at one of the places closest to the beach. The rooms are large and clean, with nice high ceilings. We stayed in a Sand Castle room and it had a bath tub as well as a shower and a great front porch with lots of seating. The staff is super friendly and attentive, though not overly so. They will totally leave you alone, but will attend to anything you need when asked. This place is also full service. If you want to book an elephant trek or snorkeling trip or a ride back to the airport or need some laundry done, they will hook you up. They resort also has on-site massage services. We got beach-side massages on our last day here and it was sublime. The massage area is literally right on the beach - so relaxing. We stayed for 4 days and that was the perfect amount of time to relax as well as do a couple of day excursions. I didn't wear shoes the whole time! This was a much appreciated change from the awfulness of Bangkok. Lots of time to walk on the beach, read by the pool and just generally relax. It's quite difficult to get anywhere else from this location unless you feel particularly brave and want to borrow a scooter to drive into the more populous part of the island. We were perfectly fine with staying put, though. The only reason I would have wanted to leave would be to get something different to eat, as the only option is the onsite restaurant, but that's a minor complaint as the food is quite good. You can walk down the beach to two other resorts for some different food/bar options. The beds are typical Thai beds - on the ground and pretty hard, but that was typical of everywhere we stayed in Thailand. Highly recommended for a completely relaxing escape! There were several families here, though I would say that it's probably pretty difficult to get young kids to this location. We had to take a flight from Bangkok, then a taxi to the pier in Krabi, then an overcrowded ferry to Ko Lanta (2 hours) then a car to the resort. I can't imagine doing that with an infant or a kid in a stroller.

Room Tip: The higher-priced rooms are closer to the beach and have bath tubs, but I think all of the rooms hav...

Staying at the resort at the moment.
The staff are fantastic and super friendly, service is brilliant unlike a lot of other resorts.
Literally in paradise with 5 star food and cocktails.
Rooms are clean and tidy a little rustic but this all adds to the character.
Would love to return again and be sure to be greeted with a thai smile.

The La Laanta resort is really paradisical. We booked an Andaman Sky family action holiday with our grown-up kids (we chose our agent as friends of ours went on honeymoon with them recently). We were slightly wary of booking the LaLaanta, as the resort has a no-under-12s policy and we didn’t want to feel bad if our lot made a big racket. Thankfully the kids respected the peaceful atmosphere of the place and didn’t embarrass us. The resort is located on a quiet and beautiful beach in the far south of Koh Lanta. There isn’t anywhere worth walking to, so you have to take a 4WD taxi if you want to go out for a meal. I don’t recommend renting a motorbike unless you are pretty experienced, as the track to the resort is rough. This inaccessibility sounds inconvenient, but is really what gives the place its charm, the resorts on the northern Lanta beaches were like Benedorm in comparison, we couldn’t wait to get back to our hotel after visiting the northern beaches for an afternoon.

The bungalows at LaLaanta are very pleasing to look at, cozy and looked just like what you would dream of in a tropical beach bungalow. I thought they were good value too, considering the size and amenities. The pool here is very beautiful too, located right in front of the beach, we enjoyed a late sunset dip. The beach is particularly beautiful and almost deserted. The restaurant and bar are god too. It’s just as well, as you are a captive market when you stay here. The Thai dishes were the real star here – while the Western food was competently cooked, the Thai food was really delicious.

The resort is a real hideaway experience, almost Crusoe-esque except for the air-con and the super comfy bungalows. We got a hammock in our bungalows, well outside it of course, and I really enjoyed reading and relaxing there. You get to use the snorkel and kayak gear free, which is cool.

This is a toes–in sand resort, you can forget your shoes for your entire stay. What a nice thing to be able to do, we all really enjoyed dressing down as much as we liked. The resort has a family atmosphere – you almost feel like you’re staying with your long-lost cousins, who insist on doing all the cooking, and then wash up afterwards, then challenge you to a game of beach volleyball, then buy you a beer afterwards if you win (we didn’t).

Room Tip: Book with Andaman Sky, as part of a tour round the region, we did and were very pleased with the res...

Travelling down from Bangkok on an ad hoc holiday, we didn't know where we were going to end up. We found this location on Trip Advisor and thought we would give it a go.
The journey to Koh Lanta was in a minibus and took us about 2 hours from Krabi bus terminal. The local taxi driver had trouble finding the entrance and went by it a couple of times, he then stopped at what appeared to be a random opening and said this it it. It was a steep rutted slope going down to the woods. I thought he was just trying to get rid of us so my wife stayed on and I had to go and see for myself. The slope led down some 150 mtrs before I started to see any life, then I thought it was a local farmers place. Unbeknown to me this was the back end of the resort but is the only way in so you hit the staff accommodation before reception.

Once in, we had a nice chat with reception and was shown to our room. The room is spacious and seemed to have everything we required. There was a nice size bed, a fridge with daily bottled water, a TV and DVD player with free films to watch from reception, a nice size shower with hot water. Everything seemed to be kept clean and the bed was made on a daily basis.
There was a personal safe if required in the cupboard. A nice touch in the room is the free lemongrass moisturiser which my wife loved so much she buys now. This is to keep the mozzies at bay.

The complex itself was looking a bit windswept and this was no coincidence, the day/night before we got there, they had a massive storm. The rest of our stay showed that the resort is also kept to a high standard.

The restaurant/bar area is a nice place to relax and chat with other travellers. It's also a nice place to watch the cheeky monkeys at breakfast time.

The complex has two pools which are probably safer to use than the more inviting sea as there are lots of hidden rocks and urchins.
There are scooters to be hired but just remember how steep that hill was coming into the resort. Unless you are really competent on a bike, I'd suggest you take it really slow and easy. That said, I think you need to get out of this place and explore. There was a couple we met and they had booked in for 2 weeks, after just one week they were getting very tired with what the resort had to offer, they felt that they couldn't do the scooters so was locked in for another week.

There is a lovely beach to be had which was spoilt by rubbish washing up from the sea. Had some giggles watching the hermit crabs on the sands.

All in all, it's a little gem to find. Perfect place to chill out, but terrible for any disabilities or children.

Would I come back, definitely, but only for 2 or 3 days max.
