“Best resort in Koh Lanta!”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

Stayed much longer then expected, 9 nights as my wife was 5mths pregnant and didnt want to travel anymore after 3 days in Bangkok.
Few points:
1. Best service we had in Thailand, seamless, friendly relaxed
2. Very good food and muai tai was a killer of a cocktail!
3. Stayed in enchanted villa (chapest one) and was very happy with it.
4. Everyday vbeach volleyball at 5pm was great to move a bit and beer after brought by staff to pool was great! little touch but sooo good
5. It's last resort on island so very quite and secluded beach.
6. Staff is world class. Never waited for anything.

my wife was almost crying when we were leaving.
Very highly recommended place to chill and relax.

If you are looking for a lot of very very nice people, good food and a beautiful sunset, this is the best place to be. If you are also like to play volleyball with the staff, drink at the bar with the owners and get to know the people working there (without any hotel policy restrictions), then there is no alternativ to LaLaanta!!! It is no 5 star resort, but its clean, lovely made and has everything you need. Its hard to describe how we liked it there. Just go there and check it out!
Thanks again for a very nice time.

Most beautiful, perfect place for a tropical holiday I could imagine. Absolutely perfect - including the rooms, the pool, the amazing, funny & generous staff the food and the cocktails!!
On the best beach i've seen in all of Thailand and it is usually deserted!
Thanks June and everyone else, counting down the days until we can come back!

Room Tip: Horizon gaze was perfect.

this place has the potential to be amazing. however we really felt there are two things that really let this place down. first is the food and second are the staff.

the breakfast is abysmal and frankly unhygenic. we braved it once and went next door to yellow bar every day after that. (we stayed 8 nights). we had lunch there when we first arrived and one dinner but after that didnt touch it again. the crab cakes we ordered were disgusting and had clearly been defrosted. the noodles were greasy and just gross. huge disappointment.

the staff all seem like very nice people. however, attracting their attention away from the TV at the bar to order anything is quite a challenge. god forbid you should also want anything when they play volleyball. the staff also have a habit of napping in the comfortable chairs in the shade which is fair enough, but as a result, we never managed to actually try out those comfy spots as guests.

there is also quite a lot of rubbish that just gets left around the pool. a beer bottle stayed put for two days. a dirty tissue and an empty can for three. this is not a budget place, frankly we expected better.

this sounds like a very negative review but we did have a good time. we just always ate elsewhere and didnt hang out by the pool with all the rubbish.

the management need to give the staff a good boot up the backside because it is such a shame. the location is unbeatable and the rooms are great.

Wow...what a special place! I can't recommend this highly enough! My fiance and I were in Thailand for two weeks and after going to West Railay and then Ko Phi Phi, this was the perfect place to relax and get away from it all. the resort has everything you need - we only left once to go on a fantastic elephant trek and short hike. "resort" is used loosely as there are only about 50 rooms and this isn't your typical, huge, 5-star resort. it has a very personal touch and feels very quaint and remote.

the grounds are beautiful with lush plants, fountains, and soft lighting everywhere. there is a wonderful infinity pool overlooking the ocean, and what feels like a private beach with lounge chairs and umbrellas just for the hotel guests. there is a beautiful, open air restaurant and bar on the beach. we spent each night there just listening to the waves crashing and talking with other hotel guests. they have the most amazing seats that feel more like couches! i've never felt so relaxed as i did after a day on the beach and a night at the restaurant and bar.

our room - the sunset splendour - was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. it was very spacious with a sitting area, desk, and then our bed on a separate, elevated area. the bathroom was beautiful with a shower and bathtub. my favorite part was the outdoor deck (doors from both the bedroom and bathroom open up to the deck) that overlooks the ocean and has two chairs plus a bed-type lounge area. i spent countless hours reading on the deck and drifting in and out of sleep to the sounds of the waves.

the staff was incredible! we were greeted with fresh juices after being escorted (for free) from the ferry to the hotel (note that it's about 45 minutes away as the hotel is on the south end of the island and the Saladan pier is on the north end). they all spoke very good english and were incredibly accommodating. for example, they menu doesn't list mango and sticky rice for dessert, but they custom made it for us on our last night! the staff plays beach volleyball every day at 5pm and invited any hotel guests to join them - very fun.

they have all kinds of entertainment and conveniences for you right there - a kayak to take out, the beach volleyball net, books, movies, massage, laundry, etc. and they can arrange any tour for you. it definitely had a resort feel given we didn't pay anything until we checked out. they just kept a tab of our food, drinks, ferry ticket, elephant trek, massage (did i mention you can get a massage in your room?!?? talk about indulgent!), etc. and we paid for everything when we checked out. the little things were nice too - like the fact that they had sunscreen and bug spray they just gave us when we ran out of ours (oops).

the rooms all include breakfast and it is incredible, as is everything else there :) there is a great spread of american and european type fare, plus different baked goods every day. something nice to look forward to!

i could go on and on but bottom line is this: this is a very special place in an incredibly tranquil setting. if you're looking to escape and un-plug, there is no better place to do it than at La Laanta! we got more for our money than we could have imagined here - something like this in the U.S. would've been five times as much! i certainly hope to go back one day! do yourself a favor and spend some time here!

Room Tip: Sunset Splendour - you have a partial ocean view, huge spacious room and bathroom and large outdoor...

After a traumatic transfer during storms to Ko Lanta we were overjoyed to find LaLaanta nestled & completely tucked away in the far south of the Island. As they were quiet we were upgraded to a superior beach cabin - all beautifully decorated with distinctive bespoke bathroom & floor-level recessed bed. Once you arrive it becomes very hard to leave, the private beach area, sea kayaks, and general atmosphere made this a trip highlight not to be missed.

We stayed in Phuket and many other places in Thailand and this was defnitely the most special little hidden GEM. If you looking for 5 star service where u bothered every 5 min then this place is not for you. Its rustic but modern, on the beach, only a few km away from airport but because the roads are so narrow it takes about 30min from the Pier where the Ferry arrives. When u here u realy dont want to leave the resort. There's no people bothering you on the beach its totally almost private! You tan, rest, drink cocktails and rest some more :) realy if your sole is tired this is the place to go, but its almost self service because bkfst you help your self to a simple bkfst ( which i must say was the one thing they could improve) and if you lying on the beach you will have to get up and order a drink from the bar by the pool (so once again if you looking for a Chedi... With this type if finer details then La Laanta is not for you). But if you looking for absolute getaway, tranquility, beauty and personal touches from the Thai/Vietnamese/Chinese 3 owners that run it themselves you at the right place look no further! I travel the world and stay in the most beautiful hotels for work but one gets tired if this too... You want something Thai, different and beautiful then this is really the place, their website does NO justice because it was done 5 yrs ago apparently! Enjoy and sjoeee dont tell anybody ;)
