“A very special place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2011

We stayed here in Jan 2009 and we still think its one of the most special places we've ever stayed. Friendly staff that make you feel like nothing is too much trouble, great location on a beach only shared with a small set of beach huts (also good for lunch), lovely food in a restaurant on the beach where you sit with your feet in the sand, relaxed atmosphere, lovely cocktails served with a smile and on big chill out chairs, comfortable room which was large and had a sofa area to watch DVDs, great trips available especially to the reefs, and very quiet! For people that need a paradise to escape their stress and worries of everyday life, this is the place for you. We loved it!!

La Laanta hideaway is exactly that, a little piece of paradise hidden away at the very south west corner of Ko Lanta. Set around a stunning pool at the heart of the site, looking over an almost private beach, perfectly orientated to take in the glorious sunsets. The  rooms are lovely; modern, clean and tastefully decorated but with an authentic feel. The staff are welcoming and helpful. In addition, the food is a great selection of Thai with a few international dishes thrown in as well; try the 'fresh' spring rolls...
A lovely place to spend a few days on the beach with a good book and to relax!

Trip adviser

LaLanta
One of the guests that stayed here actually wrote a song about this place its that awesome.
As you drive to the very end of the island which takes around 15 minutes from one end to the other you enter one of the beaches you dream about finding in Thailand.
Forrest hitting the the beach with the backdrop off a national park. It's peak peak season Christmas and guess what..... It's deserted. Oh joy.
As you sit and sip a Chang in the hammock over looking the sea with chilled out tunes in the background. You realise you could stay here for a very long time.
Patrick and Hong's saying you come as a guest and leave as a friend is true. As you welcomed to dinner by Chico a drink on the house and delicious Thai food you settle into the day bed for the evening as the waiters all make you laugh, Chico was born to be stage and uses the dinning area as just that. Hysterical.
This place won't date, it's a Robinson crusoe laid back cool place and I hope it always will be. It's a collection of huts on the beach, with a nice infinity pool over looking a magnificent beach.
If you cannot be happy here you got to be pretty miserable person.
Thank you do much for a lovely visit laLanta. Wish you could of kept us longer.

We spend 3 nights at Lalanta resort in December. This was one of the highlights of our trip. We had a bungalow towards the back which was just amazing. Only a few steps to the pool and beach. We had 2 snorkeling trips while we were here which was no problem since they pick you up by boat right on the beach. I would also like to metion we were always the last to be picked up in the morning and the first to be dropped off so that was a bonus when there is 30 people on the snorkeling tour! The staff here is amazing, my sister got her toe cut pretty bad by coral on a snorkeling trip and the staff cleaned and bandaged it every night! We also wanted a day shopping on Old Town and the hotel provided us a vehicle and driver at no cost to take us shopping. I couldn't recommend this place more! We loved it!

+ secluded jungle location on a remote paradise beach
+ amazing laid back vibe in a cozy setting
+ tasty food and great milkshakes
+ very friendly, genuine and relaxed staff, loving our infant
+ interaction between guests
+ resort blends nicely into the surroundings
+ clean bungalows
+ nice pool

- overpriced
- surprisingly run down after only four years of operation
- rubbish on the beach, even in front of the resort
- lazy staff when it comes to keeping the resort fresh
- landscaping could be improved
- recently finished concrete road takes away some of the hideaway feeling
- as communicated challenging to move around with a stroller
- very shabby baby cot mattress

Very nice and cozy hotel with friendly staff. Not ideal for divers because of the poor quality of the road and the distance to the good dive centers.
Probably perfect for a romantic getaway...

My sister and I stayed at LaLaanta for 5 days in November 2011.

We had already spent 6 days staying on a 4.5 star resort on Phi Phi Island and weren't sure how La Laanta was going to compare as the nightly rates were so reasonable in comparison I'd also read a recent review that said it was difficult to get around whilst staying at La Laanta.

Our farely modest expectations were completely blown out of the water in every aspect.

The room was fabulous, on par with the 4.5 star resort.... (I actually preferred the bathroom at La Laanta).
The food was really good and we were lucky enough to be there for an all you can eat BBQ on the Friday night. There were delicious fresh crab simply boiled with yummy dipping sauces (my own personal heaven), giant prawns, whole sole fish and lots more. It was better than the other buffets I'd been to or seen and was very reasonably priced.

We found it really easy to get around, we were picked up from the resort for all of the experiences we wanted to do (cooking class, elephent trekking, snorkelling at Koh Rok) but a lot of the other guests had bikes/scooters that they were getting around on. It's important to note that a road has been built in the last month so there's no more 4x4 necessary.

It rained quite a bit while we were there and there was a wall of books and DVD's to borrow which was brilliant.

What really made our stay there so incredible was the staff.
There's no hint of some of the forced friendliness you can find in other places in Thailand. Everyone that works there seems to genuinely enjoy themselves and be interested in having a good time with the guests.

A special mention to Shiko (reception), June and Patrick (owners)... we had a lot of laughs and Mai Tai's.. and the boys behind the bar put up with some slightly sozzled girls with fun and cheeky grins.

I will be back with as many friends as I can convince to go. I can't wait till next time!

Room Tip: We stayed in a Villa closer to the beach (from memory I think they were $10-$20 more per night than...
