I was misled by the doorman about the price but stayed for two nights anyway. After a day sightseeing on my second day I discovered my electric shaver,battery charger and toiletries were missing. The receptionist didn't want to do anything about it till morning,saying the staff were all new. That was obviously untrue as they were all old. I called the police but they didn't come,but a number of phone calls were being received and made by the receptionist. I went outside and saw a middleaged woman,obviously not a guest,entering the hotel carrying a handbag. A few minutes later I was advised my items had been found. When I told the story at a local cafe,a German visitor told me he had checked out because his luggage had been interefered with. Locals say that often happens in this hotel. What a terrible reputation.

I stayed here for four days to see the wonders of ancient Ayuthaya and I needed basic, cheap but secure accommodation. I haggled with the tourist office in bkk and secured a double for 1,000bht p.n but in hindsight would have pushed the price down to 600. Although the hotel was mostly empty we were given a gloomy room facing an apartment block rather than a light and airy room overlooking the temple and river. The bed was comfortable, a/c and fridge worked well with plenty of hot water in the tired bathroom. Breakfast was truly diabolical, unless of course you enjoy cold chinese style food. The cleanliness of the mismatched, chipped crockery was suspect with red lipstick still on my chosen cup. Their riverside restaurant was fine, but I suggest you go next door to the swish Tevaraj restaurant where food is better and cheaper. There is a 7 next door too. The location is good for the railway station but not for the ancient sights. A hair raising motorbike ride to the ancient city was a mere 15 baht each way as the tuk tuks outside are all fixed at 300 baht per hour. If my budget isn't so very tight next time I would stay somewhere else.
