We arrived by train late at night and both guesthouses we had researched online prior to our visit were booked. We were walking around and got approached by one of the managers who showed us to a room. The first room he showed us had an en suite bathroom but no door to the toilet. I quickly told him to show us another room and he laughed at my boyfriend and I asking if we were family.
The next room was large, but the hallway leading up to the room had several dusty cabinets full of old bedding and trinkets, resembling an antique shop or grandmother's home. There was a large en suite bathroom with no hot water in the shower and explosive water pressure in the sink that shot out each time we turned it on. The television showed several English channels, and the bed was hard, but decent for a night. A cabinet for extra bedding was in the corner, and a foul smell emerged upon opening it.
I awoke in the morning to find my backpack completely soaked from either the ceiling or air con unit down onto the floor. In a pinch this room made due for a night, but I would not recommend Ayutthaya Guest House to anyone.
